Olbermann Snl

Keith Olbermann reacted to the "SNL" sketch in which Ben Affleck portrayed him as a cat-loving pompous freak Monday night, and also to a report that the McCain campaign was "tickled" by the sketch.

He had previously told Time's Ana Marie Cox, "Honestly, everybody deserves a laugh but if on the weekend before the presidential election they spent more than seven seconds bothering with ME, the campaign staff has even less of a clue than I thought." He had also blogged at DailyKos about the incident, saying:

In terms of my whole career I really haven't been doing this that long (1997-98, 2002-date) but don't presidential campaigns have more to worry about on the day before the election than me?

Am I misunderstanding? Aren't two breaths spent on a sketch done on Saturday Night Live, two breaths not spent calumnying Obama?

Monday night, Olbermann continued with this "Who, me?" line of attack, but also brought evidence — in the form of cue cards — that Sarah Palin was scripted to compliment Tina Fey for her impression when she appeared on SNL but ad-libbed and left the line out.

I thought that was the funniest skit of the show... hahahahahahahaha While they were exaggerated a bit... Affleck had Keith's affectations down to a tee... hahahahahahahahaha

I just recently started watching Keith Olbermann. I like his show and I like his style. I feel like I get a lot of useful information from his show. Also, my teenage daughter enjoys watching him.

Woe is you, Keith? Is that what you're saying?

SNL has never been, is not, and never will be a solely political show. It is a VARIETY show. They make fun of many different things during the course of one episode. It's not a national tragedy if they don't devote every second to the presidential race and instead take some time to mock an overbearing windbag of a commentator. It's obvious from some of the comments on this and the initial story about it that it wasn't a particularly good impersonation, but so what? I for one wouldn't know (or care), since I avoid Olbermann with the same tenacity as I avoid watching O'Reilly. Two peas in a pod, those guys. Endless self-righteous opinion given airtime on "news" networks. (Yes, that's right, MSNBC has lowered itself into the same "news" field as FOX, with the quotes meaning that their status as a news network is seriously in question.)

But I suppose if you're Olbermann and wanted a chance to use your own show to talk about yourself, this was his chance, and he took it.

Just so you know, you might want to have your eyes checked or maybe spend some more time reading before you comment, because you read this all wrong.

Did you watch it? Actually Olberman isn't upset at SNL, he is amused...and bemused that the McCain campaign spent even a breath on him (Olberman) when they could be addressing something more important.

I agree Keith has gotten to be a bit over the top--I don't watch him as often as I used to--but his reaction to the SNL sketch is gracious, and appreciative. i see no "woe is me" here.

Keith was talking about McCain's campaign. "don't presidential campaigns have more to worry about on the day before the election than me?"

Aside from that, your comments would be valid.

Hmmmm.... he was referring to McCain laughing about the skit, not the skit itself. Read before you rant

Keith has been further ahead of the curve than any pundit or news anchor by calling the neocons and the Iraq fiasco out for what they were WAY back when it was unpopular and allegedly unAmerican. He has had the stones that were lacking in all the rest and now the media and the country are gradually coming around to his point of view whether they like his delivery or not. I've said it on here before, but Keith is passionate oftentimes simply because he is paying attention.

I love Keith Olbermann. I love his passion. And I don't think he has anything to be apologetic about with respect to his laser beam attacks on hypocrisy and scum-baggery.

I've seen some comments saying that he is over the top but Rachel is just right. Actually both are good, and they have contrasting styles. For instance, what I see as Keith's "passion" might be seen as "theatrics" by someone else. As for Rachel, some might say she exercises "caution" but sometimes I think she sometimes engages in "hand-wringing", like I felt she did in her segment last night with former Virginia Govenor Douglas Wilder.

Keith and Rachel are good, and they balance each other out. Its two hours of must see TV that I can't wait to watch - whether I'm in Montana, Alabama, Maine, Nebraska, or my home area of Western Washington State.

I watched Rachel last night. I don't consider it "hang-wringing" when someone brings up a valid point and a guest validates that concern.

Republicans won't be concerned that the lines are long today. They will only be concerned that the polls close on time, and that the majority of those people left in line to vote after those polls close are Democrats.

I've kept up with the shenanigans going in some of these states, and as Rachel pointed out, the system will overburden by sheer numbers today. Those numbers have never been tested. I believe Rachel is voicing a concern that a lot of polling places are unprepared for the onslaught.

You've proved my point: everyone doesn't see it the same way. Or see Rachel or Keith in the same way.

I did consider it hand-wringing - her segment with Wilder. Yes she brought up good issues, but why not bring someone from the Obama camp on from Virginia to explain how they're going to deal with the long lines, and other concerns? Huh? She didn't do that. That segment would have been better if she had. And that is my opinion on the matter.

I love Rachel, but what I saw last night was unnecessary hand-wringing. And still, I love her so much, that after finish watching Keith, I'll be watching her too!!!

Since they knew months in advance that it was going to happen, there is NO excuse to be unprepared.

Ending a sentance with a preposition is a situation up with which I will not put.

In writing, anyway.

I like Keith.. Rachel, I have to get used to.. I cant take her facial expressions not sure if she is trying to imitate Keith, but I like when she seems more serious.. She's constantly making faces and it doesnt appeal to the message at hand.

Olbermann makes me cringe but I understand he speaks for some of us who just need to vent. I'd rather watch Rachel though.

he really made me cringe last night with the cue cards. what was his point? that a joke was thrown out at the last minute. i thought gene robinson looked like he wanted to be anywhere else but where he was.

But this is why Keith is fun. He yells and loses his top so we don't have to. Both Keith and Rachel are great for their individual reasons.

He can be that, and pompous as well. However, there were more than a few times this silly season that he gave voice to the very things I was thinking and the frustration therein. With most of the MSM failing its journalistic responsibilities, Keith delivered.

Just remember: No Keith = No Rachel. Sometimes you need the acerbic, witty (and smart) blowhard to blow open a few doors and make it safe for the others.

And if you aren't just as outraged as Keith after the past eight years, you haven't been paying attention!
