MSNBC describes the mood in John McCain's villa:

Senior staffers are gathering to spend time with Senator McCain at the "family villa" they are using tonight on the hotel grounds.

Various senior staffers describe McCain's mood as "good" and "he's fine."

There is a collective sense among staffers that this has been a "valiant effort". And a "great fight" in "historically difficult times."

Other describe a feeling of "no regrets" and members of the senior team contend they "left it all on the table."

One advisor says McCain himself feels "that he let his staff and supporters down."

They continue to watch results and await more actual vote totals.

No details yet on when Senator McCain will appear.

Sorry, but one good speech does not make things right. He has proven to have no intrigity or honor.
He is the past , time for him to step aside. I hold no ill will, but look forward to the day when he returns to the desert and out of public life.

Wow. No regrets. Really? So he thinks he did everything right?

How can people ever learn if they think of themselves as totally perfect?

No regrets? Are you kidding!? There are children in this country now who are afraid of their new president. They have been told so much crap. They have heard it in their churches, in school, from their parents. Some think he a cross between Bin Ladin and Freddy Krueger. He's a terrorist and will kill babies. These are things I've from both my 4th grader and daughter in the 10th. My kid in the 4th grade said a girl in her class said it was ok if Obama won because somebody would shoot him before long. This is insane.
McCain has a lot of work to do. Palin as well. This needs to be fixed.

I'm disappointed that there are "no regrets." I hope McCain, Palin, Rick Davis, Steve Schmidt, and all those campaign staffers will reflect on the dishonorable campaign they waged.

A lot of conservatives are blaming the economy for McCain's loss. If the economy played any role, it was that it highlighted McCain's floundering and lack of leadership.

The real reason McCain lost is John McCain and his dishonorable campaign.

Please, they may say that in public, but privately, they have plenty regrets, the big regret is Palin. The dems gained when she was picked.

I wish only great regrets for you by day and night Senator McCain. What your campaign put out in the last week of this campaign was reprehensible. I won't get into it. It will be in a book. I hope the the title of the book is:COUNTRY LAST! You have disgusted me, I'm sorry to say. You're no patriotic at all.

I hope he regrets the attempt to split America down party, race and class lines.
I hope he regrets the lies and the slander.
I hope he regrets his monumental mistake in Palin.

I hope he regrets putting himself before his country.

If you had shown this McCain to America instead of the spiteful and vindictive McCain, you might have won.

Do you regret that?

They have no regrets because they have no conscience.

It's too little, too late. He should have been shutting down the ones who boo and say hateful/derisive things when he and Palin were on the stump; he should have realized that the Republican brand is tarnished in most of the minority communities, and that he could win people over if he showed us the side of himself that we saw back in 2000. He should have been very gracious across the board and showed his primary opponents and his presidential opponent how a gentleman who'd been counted out months before can rebound and win the hearts of the people. He should have acknowledged and apologized for past mistakes, and vowed to make up for them. Finally, he should have picked a running mate that would have won over the PEOPLE, and not just the base. Again, too little, too late.

At the first mention of his opponent, McCain's supporters went right to the BOOs -- while as soon as Obama mentioned McCain, the crowd in Grant Park cheered for him. Let's hope the good sportsmanship and spirit of cooperation prevail as decisively as Obama himself from here on in.
