Update: Oprah had an Election Day special live show today, which opened with characteristic Oprah enthusiasm and a convention-like entrance while Daughtry played live in the background.

"I couldn't sleep last night!" Oprah said. "Been countin' down the days and it's finally hereeeeeee!"

Oprah also did something she's never done before: she told viewers to turn off the TV and go vote, if they hadn't done so already.

Watch:

Original Post: Oprah Winfrey called into the Ed Lover show on New York's Power 105.1 FM Tuesday morning, where she encouraged listeners to vote and shared her excitement about the election. She is so confident that her candidate, Barack Obama, will win the election that she's already bought her gown for his inauguration! From UsMagazine.com:

"When Barack wins this evening, it's a victory all of America - because black people and brown people and red people and yellow people all understand that he understands that all villages matter," she said. "That's what Colin Powell said when gave that beautiful endorsement of him. That is why I loved and supported him from the beginning."

Winfrey - who said she already bought her dress for Obama's inauguration -- said today "is a dating of rejoicing for me. It's a powerful thing we are going to do today, as a nation, with of our vote."

She plans to celebrate at Chicago's Grant Park tonight. Her pal Gayle King is even flying in.

Added Winfrey, "We want to be there that moment when Barack comes out ... and he is the new president of the United States."

I would like to share with you and any potentially audience a very special music composition that pays tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King's legacy and historic dream. The moving lyrics convey proof that Dr. Kings' historic and magnificent dream is still revealing itself. As Barack Obama approaches this historic accomplishment of being elected as President of the United States, it confirms that Dr. King's dream is still very much alive.

As the chorus reads:
King's Dream still lives on
Inside of us today
Time has come
For his vision to be realized
Though the journey's been long...
We're finding the strength to carry on

Every girl needs a new dress. A celebration is in order.

Here is my souvenir tribute to the President Elect and family.

Oh God MAKE HER GO AWAY

She has more money than God, and she has used none of it for good. If her charity can't commemorate herself, she ain't interested. That 60 million she build to that school could have sent 4 million children in Africa to school for a year, instead of the 100 of so who will grow up to worship her.

Obama, MAKE HER DISAPPEAR!!

She's the most philanthropic African American of all time, having given over $300 million of her own hard earned charity, despite being born in raised with far more adversity than you & I. And we've tried wholesale education in Africa for years. It's time to give the best & brightest Africans a first class education & change what people think is possible for a poor African girl.

Village,
What the heck are you talking about. You ought to quit bearing false witness; you see that didn't work for the McCain/Palin ticket!

I hope Oprah appreciates the position she's in. Not to sound bitter or anything, but I've been working for the campaign here in Chicago at the national headquarters for almost a year and half, paying my own way across the country to work for Barack and I guarantee you none of us will receive one invitation to an inaugural ball. We've been stiffed on so much stuff by campaign staff that it's just shameful. I don't blame Barack because it's the staff, but something happens to these people when they get involved in political campaigns like this. They forget what "grass roots" really means.

I bought a dress, too, but I doubt I'll get to wear it so Oprah, enjoy the perks your fame and money bring you!

Two economists proved Oprah single-handedly delivered over a million votes in the primary especially in small caucus states like Iowa. He would NOT have won the nomination without her. Not even close. Inviting her to a party is the least he can do. If there was any justice he would make her first lady :-)

I don't disagree with you and certainly, Oprah should be there front and center. However, it's not an "either/or" thing and a lot of us who have dealt with canvassing when it was -15 in Iowa in January and who interrupted vacations and special occasions to work on projects (as volunteers) when we were asked should be included. We have been excluded from virtually everything and, in fact, when we ask to participate in some of the festivities and events we are greeted with silence ("I'm sorry, WHO are you?"). I was just making a point that not a lot of the staffers follow the Obama credo of "Respect. Empower. Include."

Did anybody see Oprah interviewed by Robin Roberts last night on ABC? She was soooo drunk! It was hilarious.

Wow, only Oprah could invite herself to a presidential inagural ball.

Yes We Did!

I liked the fact that Oprah had to stand in the crowd like everyone else. I can't stand it when you see celebrities practically onstage. Ben Affleck standing next to John Kerry in 2004 comes to mind.

" it's finally hereeeeeee! "

Who writes this stuff? She clearly said 'heeeeeeeeeere' not 'hereeeeeeeeeeee' (which sounds like 'hairy').

Don't make Our Oprah look weird.

I'm going to the inauguration. I hope to meet some of you there. I'd love to get a ball gown and attend some of the parties. How do you go about that? I'd appreciate any info. I'm determined.

And I thought she looked OK.

Now that she is First Lady, she is going to have to get in the gym and lose the campaign weigh, and refine her style. That dress is hideous. She can do better than that. And the sweater that let her pits show when she raised her arms was awful.

Gee Oprah, if you'd have gotten behind Gore or Kerry like this............ or was that the plan? Waiting for the one or the one of us? Unity -- yeah right!
