As a Penn State alum, I've never been more proud of the old alma mater. This is where change starts. Thanks, fellow Nittany Lions, for taking your right to vote so seriously that you would wait through such a long line. Hopefully you will all be a part of a day which will change the world.

URGENT.
Radio talk show host, Thom Hartman just had a caller who says he is a student in AZ and is being denied the right to vote as are many other students there. The caller says that the voter alert numbers he has tried are not "real". Is there anyone out there in AZ that can see if students need a hand out there?

Down here in Orange County, California, a number of Republicans I have talked to, while they will not vote for anyone other than a Republican, have told me that they will stay away from the polls to show their disgust. Also, my neighbors who had bumper stickers and yard signs for "W" in the last two elections, are staying out of the campaigning this time, so my Obama yard sign is all by itself.

That works for me.

Dear Young People,

Thank you for voting! Don't let them take this one away too!

If McCain "wins", then democracy is over and we need to take to the streets

Protest and Survive!

this is a history, civics, and political science lesson that can not be learned in a book. how sweet it is the youth of this country not only living it--but experiencing it. remember that statement made by michelle about being, "proud of her country for the first time." could this be what she was talking about? citizens getting involved in their own governance. but how sweet is it that the kids are shaking those labels of apathy and indifference.

We voted at 10:00 AM. Our polling place is a senior building in Cambridge Mass. The # of younger and non-white voters there was astounding. And 55% of registered voters had cast ballots before I Ieft (10:15 or so). Because of the senior location we live in a high turnout precinct. But the seniors rarely vote that early, preferring for the most part to wait until the afternoon when it is not so busy. I wouldn't be surprised to see a state-wide turnout above 75% which would be excellent given that Massachusetts is a slam dunk for Obama. A friend of mine called me this morning to report that there were massive lines in Davis Square, Somerville and in West Medford and that the # of student voters was overwhelming. Finally youth is getting the message. I can't wait to see the results for Virginia and North Carolina. Weren't those crowd pictures at Manassas last night something! This is the first time in my memory that I actually voted for some I liked rather than the lesser of evils. What a day!

I was in that MASSIVE Manassas crowd but can't find any pics online. I'm overcome with hope that this will be the best day this country has seen in decades. There were 100,000 of us standing for many hours waiting to be part of history. Really, it just doesn't get any better than this.

So great to see students getting out to vote in such large numbers! I broke down & wept this morning. Big sobs-- like Oprah WInfrey would say: the ugly cry. Really shocked myself because I've been a bit emotionally removed from this election. When I stopped crying I went to a place inside my head that I haven't felt for a very long time: I am old enough that, when I was a child, African-American men were beaten and/or lynched in the south for LOOKING at a white woman-- they were required to look to the ground when a white woman walked by. Messages reinforcing this was on the news I saw as a child. As a white girl, it shaped who I became with such power that all the work I have done has been to eradicate discrimination. I am so thankful to have lived long enough to witness this awakening. It gives me hope that some day we might be able to move beyond the evil of racism. OMG, this is simply monumental.

Thanks for reminding us that discrimination hurts on both sides of the divide. I think Martin Luther King said as much.

I am in my mid fifties, and want to apologize to the young voters (including my children) for the mess we have made of the country. (That does not mean that I am not proud of the U.S., only that we have much to fix.)

We desperately need your help, young voters, to get the country back on track.

Obama needs a mandate to get the necessary programs enacted. If he gets a mandate, I know that you voted. If he does not, I know that you did not vote in large numbers.

I'll second that! I'm just glad and hopeful that'll we are going to put Obama in and give him a filibuster proof senate so he can straighten out all our ills and I'll be able to leave this earth with a better country than when I arrived for my childrens sake as well as all the children of the world!

Awesome. Take control of your country through your right to vote. All college professors should give students the day off to vote, and excuse them for lateness or missing class today. It should be a national voting holiday. As the parent of a college student who voted early this morning in my swing state, I am proud of the young generation of voters today, and confident of their ability to lead us older folks into a secure future. VERY PROUD! GO YOUTH VOTE!
