Tim Robbins

Politically active actor Tim Robbins almost didn't get to vote in New York.

TMZ reports Robbins was turned away at his polling place.

There was some kind of ruckus and the cops were called.

Apparently Robbins has been voting at that polling place for more than a decade, but today his name wasn't on the register. They told Robbins he had to fill out a provisional ballot but he didn't want to do it. An argument erupted between Robbins and the poll worker. Robbins allegedly got loud and the poll worker said he was calling the cops.

Robbins accused the poll worker of trying to intimidate him so he wouldn't vote.

Robbins went downtown to the City Board of Elections to get proof he was good to vote.

That's where a TMZ camera caught up with him. Robbins held up his papers and told the camera:

"This is what you have to do to vote... I had to go down to see a judge... My name was not on the roll, and I'm not the only one. According to workers, 30 people in 5 hours had been taking off the rolls. You can do the math on that. 6 per hour, per district across America..."

You and all other progressives are hereby banned from saying the words "Sarah Palin" ever again, now that it's over. I'm gonna puke if I see that face one more time in the next six months.

The only thing that matters about her at this point is whether the Republican Party is going to be the party of Palin or the party of somebody like Susan Collins or Chuck Hagel. Or Colin Powell. Or George Will, even. If I were RNC czar, I know which way I'd go.

Well already this morning as of about 730 they were talking about another SP run.
We cannot just ignore her or her cohorts.
Be wary, fix the voting laws.
The Help America Vote Act was authored by Jack Abramoff and Bob Ney, two now convicted felons who were committing crime at the very time they were rewriting our voting laws, if that is not reason to repudiate that along with a bunch of other reprehensible party tricks

Every American, regardless of party, should watch "Murder, Spies & Voting Lies: The Clint Curtis Story". I've watched it twice on linktv.org. You can read more about it at http://www.bradblog.com/?p=6435

I was challenged at the poll today. I live in a Repuke strong hold in South Jersey. I was with my 8 year old nephew and the chalenger said my signature did not match the log and looked odd. So she said show me ID. I said I will if you show me yours. Nephew said this is my Aunt BAWBRA let her vote!!

I wrote down her name, number and DL number. She then let me vote. She said that the signature was bad and that I needed to have the log book updated at the Registras office before the next election.

The funny thing is my nephew came in the booth with me and said pushed the buttons for me.

He kept singing a song O BA MA I love the O BA MA...it cracked me up. Everytime he pushed the button we read aloud who we were voting for. This kid is going to remember he made history when he was 8 with his Aunt BAWBRA

Congratulations on getting to vote despite weird behavior by the poll worker and on letting your nephew vote.

Yes,

Great to vote. I'm on board there.

Challenge the challenger. I'm with you.

Take the nephew into the voting booth. OK

Let him vote. Illegal.

Singing out your vote. Completely disrespectful of the polling place being non-partisan and of other voters.

I am glad the truth is coming out so hopefully changes will be made before the next election.

The following video below is of a computer programmer, speaking under oath, about how he helped to rig the Florida election in 2000. He confesses that he was asked to write this program by Florida Republican, Speaker of the House, Tom Feeney.

If you have the choice, DO NOT use the electronic voting machines. They may be rigged.

Add this to the list of important stories that our criminal mainstream media has completely ignored and/or helped to cover-up.

This was disturbing but not surprising. We now have paper ballots here in FL, but we've got to establish some sort of national system that is tamper-proof. This is ridiculous.

Canadians use paper and number 2 pencils. VERY HIGH TECH.

And it is considered to be pretty much 100% accurate.

International voting groups asked to monitor the 2004 American elections and were denied entrance. They have never asked to come into Canada. Maybe we should save some money and adopt the system our neighbors from the north use.

My daughter was on the voter rolls, had her proper ID and her voter registration card. She was also on the states computer register. She was still forced to vote a provisional ballot. This crap has to stop. Republicans are making up phony lists to take people off the rolls and have been doing it for more than 10 years. VOTER INTIMIDATION HAS TO STOP!!!!

Were there no Lawyer Observers at the poll? Or any phone number to call in the county to contact the local Obama campaign to investigate this? Here in PA we had lawyers at the polls, or in the canvassing centers to assist with any problems. AFAIK there weren't any really egregious issues at the polls in my county. And I was canvassing almost all day since 7AM until it got to dark to see addresses.

Same here: Next to my name on the rolls it said I had 'requested an absentee ballot'. (I had not.) I was told I had to use a provisional ballot. I refused. Tim Robbins also did not want to use a provisional ballot. Why not? Two reasons: 1. We have been told provisional ballots do not get treated with the same respect as normal ballots. 2. In order to vote on a provisional ballot (in L.A. County) you are given a normal ballot but you HAVE to put it into a pink envelope ON THE OUTSIDE OF WHICH you HAVE TO write all your personal information. YOU HAVE TO WRITE YOUR BIRTH-DATE, SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, ADDRESS AND PHONE. THIS IS TOO MUCH INFORMATION TO GIVE TO RANDOM POLL WORKERS WHOM YOU DON'T KNOW OR TRUST TO KEEP CONFIDENTIAL. This is the reason I don't vote absentee. The mail-in envelope also demands all this information -- ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE ENVELOPE.

There should be NO ID required at polls. There is no reason for it, and it disenfranchises the many people who do not have driver's licenses.

There should ONLY BE PAPER BALLOTS. When voting machines are suspect, even one, then NONE should be used.

A similar thing happened to me too. I was so excited to go vote and they turned me away. I called my mom, who is friends with a senator and her office helped me out. The registrar of voters had to email me my ballot and I was able to make it happen. I'm sure I'm not the only one this happened to, and I wonder how many people out there did nothing about it and were unable to vote...

I vote in a small town pop 2200 in Iowa. They had extra booths set up & I was glad to see that we were using paper ballots instead of the touch screens of the past. It went very smoothly. I was voter number 810 at 4 pm so we are obviously going to have a good turnout. It is a heavily Repub town so will be interesting to see the results. Although we had an amazing turnout at the Democratic caucus. So much hope in my heart.

I also voted in New York today and my name was off the roll. I've been voting in this district for over a decade.

After this election is over we MUST investigate wrong doings and where laws have been broken - PROSECUTE for a change. Why do you think Pres. Bush insisted that computer voting machines from his Ohio campaign manager (the President of Diebold Corp.) NOT provide a written record? There can be no reason but defrauding the public as far as I can see. Vigorous prosecution and harsh penalties for doing so is the only way to regain our credibility.

A legal argument could be made that an attempt to steal votes this way is an attempt to take over the government by force. In other words treason.

The founding fathers knew that unless they won they were putting their lives on the line. This is not different.

One problem that I see with changing the election process is this: the losers of an election have no power to change the process and the winner who won using that process has no incentive to change it.

After all, they won using that process.

Any change would have to be either be BIPARTISAN or a GRASSROOTS movement from the people. A winning politician will never change the mechanism that allowed him to win and the loser is viewed as a SORE LOSER.

Most electoral systems were heavily stacked in favor of Republicans during the last census, when they were in power. Gerrymandering does most of that work. For the Dems to hold their own or blow out in any area is the sheer will of the people who have donated in small amounts to Obama.

Further, Obama is not beholding to anyone other than the PEOPLE, as he has no heavy K Street or Wall Street influence.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:00 PM on 11/04/2008

I don't agree that the dems under Obama will not want to change the process. This would have been stolen if not for Obama's strong lead. There is no way dems will be comfortable with that.

Also, this is a result of the law passed in 2005 to purge the voter rolls. The law was passed because the left wing led people to believe Bush stole the election. So, they are paying for their sins.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:54 PM on 11/04/2008

The evidence shows that Bush stole the 2000 election and strongly suggests that Bush stole the 2004 election. As far as your assertion that the "left wing" is paying for wanting to clean up the voting process so that every American can vote without impediment, and every American's vote will be counted, is there something wrong with that?

You better check the congressional record buddy. That law was passed by republican hacks in 2005. You remember 2005 when the Repubs controlled congress.

Nice try to rewrite history.
