Sounds like CNN is breaking new ground in their attempt to create completely fake news.

Big FFFFing Deal! It is not like they could see the holgram from their seats. People that are impressed with this are idiots. "Wow! Look at that line on the football field that keeps moving! First down! Wow!"

This is NOT a hologram, this is GREEN SCREEN projection. Wolf Blitzer was NOT seeing a person in his studio as he would have if it was real Hologram, he was IMAGINING someone standing on that big red dot and looking 5 feet up from that**. We the viewers, at home, saw both people, one of whom was superimposed via green screen technology.

Yes, it's a breakthrough in green screen technology but it is not a Hologram. CNN have gone one step further than The Daily Show who use a green screen to pretend that Samantha Bee is reporting live from wherever, when in fact she standing 10 feet away in front of a green screen, with a shot of 'wherever' superimposed behind her.

**Which is what actors do when shooting movies with a green screen -- thus we have now (again) blurred the line between 'journalism' and 'acting'.

This was idiotic. The so-called holograms (really just a chromakey) looked terrible, and the fact that Wolf Blitzer was drooling and cooing over it like a newborn baby made it just pathetic. Color me unimpressed.

My question is, where did they hide R2-D2?

Whoever thought that hologram gimmick was a good idea should be fired without pay. It was so ridiculous that when I finally stopped laughing hysterically, at the virtual correspondents standing in the studio on some phony simcity set I had to turn the channel so I could pay attention to the returns. I don't want my news to look like a bad video game.

OK, let's try it THIS way ....

This had to be the most worthless dumb as fecal matter stunt ever pulled by a so called major "news organization" ... well, maybe second to making Wolf Blitzer the face of CNN.

Who, exactly, is in charge there?

"Hologram" is just plain false advertising.

And, more importantly, it's poor journalism to mis-report information.

What you see is just simply a special effect. The idea of filming two different things with moving cameras, where one camera mimics the motion of the other camera, and then you superimpose the two images dates back (at least) to the original Star Wars movie.

Sure, this is an updated version, and it's all done in real time, and it sort of looks cool. But it's not a hologram.
