Everybody is so happy. Bush might as well be the "Wicked Witch of the West." I bet the flying monkeys are rejoicing too.

You've obviously never had a comment deleted by an anonymous Huffington Post moderator, of which there are (at least) THIRTY, a disturbing fact I recently found out.

Don't applaud this site for freedom until they deserve it, which isn't now.

Arianna,
We are all right to rejoice today and breathe a very profound sigh of relief, all but those poor wolves in Alaska!

Re: Haaretz's Jerusalem reaction to Obama's victory. Thank GOD Obama will take a softer line on Iran than McCain and Lieberman!! Thank GOD Obama will negotiate with Iran instead of bombing it and completely wrecking the world economy by causing Iran to retaliate after our bombs by sinking lots of oil tankers in the Persian Gulf, making it so expensive to insure tankers that the price of oil shoots to $300 a barrel. Thank GOD Obama will talk directly with Iran, exactly as Robert Baer, for decades a top CIA operative in the Middle East, recommends in his great new book on Iran and the US, The Devil We Know. Thank GOD Obama will break the insanity of the neocon stranglehold on American foreign policy which gave us the incredibly stupid war in Iraq, and would have given us the bombing of Iran for dessert very early in a McCain administration. Fanatical neocon supporters of the right wing in Israel, like Sheldon Adelson, did everything money can buy in this election (including trying to figure out every possible way to smear Obama with lying robocalls, TV ads, etc.) to stop Obama, precisely because they wanted to continue to guarantee that their faction in Israel would be able to use American military might as Israel's Big Stick at will in the Middle East under McCain, just as they have used it under Bush. No wonder the world is so blissed out over Obama's victory for sanity in America.

I can't help but remember how one of my favorite books/movies ends: "....and the world turned on greased grooves....' Cannery Row, Steinbeck... Maybe this 'seachange' event in our collective experience will be enough to bring our willingness to embrace our personal responsibilities for the state of the world up to a level that can sustain and include successful CHANGE for all time, throughout the world!! And Jean, thank YOU for giving thanks to GOD over and over, for truly, we have been blessed with a miracle of love, light and freedom today, giving us the motivation, the strength and the willingness to rise to the task at hand, which is to reach out and help one another, lift each other up and let the gratitude we feel today be the natural and enduring experience we Americans promote by sharing it, giving it away in all we do, in all we say...let the partisan attacks end, and the healing begin. Let the us versus them approach be laid aside for the new day that has dawned in America, a day of HOPE and VISION...May God Bless each and every man woman and child on the face of this new world, that we may all know the truth, as spoken by Martin Luther King, Jr, 'we shall reach the Promised Land together..'

Thank God, indeed. While I have never been to Iran, I am an American woman who is married to an Iranian man. Iran has more in common with America than most Americans are aware. I look forward to seeing this come to light in the coming years. Iranians (almost all of them) LOVE Americans, contrary to what most of the media shows us. Iran has a great deal to offer the United States. Three million Iranians live quietly in the United States contributing a great deal to the culture and the economy. Not long ago Americans could not imagine the day when we would have an African American president, we are seeing that day now. While we can't currently imagine being "pals" with Iran, I now believe that someday we will. Calmer winds will prevail and all of us will benefit.

Perhaps everyone should read the National Geographic article on Iran. I think it was last month. The people of Iran share our desire for a better world. We've got to find a way to get along, Obama might be the man to do that.

Thanks to Arianna, most Huffington bloggers and to all of the progressive Huffington posters who have done so much to contribute to Senator Obama's election. There were many times when I would get depressed about the state of the campaigning and the polls. I would come to Huffington to get my spirits lifted! Hope trumped hate last night!

As another poster suggested, fly your US flags and reclaim patriotism!

Thank you, Arianna, for this website. I don't know what I would have done without it. As an American living in London I often felt out of touch with how this election was actually going. Huffintonpost kept me sane and gave me hope. Since I am not a politician I don't care how it sounds to say I haven't been proud of my country in the last eight years, but I am now. I had begun to feel alone and now I see that I am not alone. Thank you, my fellow Americans, for choosing Barack Obama.

I am no longer an African American............. Tonight we have torn down our wall... We have once again landed on the moon.... We are not reunited by our fears and reactions of terror.... But by our will to in vision and step forward and live the dream a man spoke about years pass... Who are we?.....What is this hope... And Why do we posses this glory, it is because we all are Americans not black, white, yellow or brown. So when we pass one another in the upcoming weeks remember its not about or political views or our cultural background, but by the flag we hold across our hearts and the colors of red white and blue that flows through our blood. we are all just simply blessed Americans.

I really can't believe we have come this far, I am twenty three years old. Born in a southern power house in the state of Alabama. Who loves his white and black friends and in love with a person who happens to be of the opposite color. This is my America, the one I have read about throughout many years of school. The one I never thought I would ever see put aside it's fears of different s. Tonight I don't think I will be able to sleep knowing that now the dream the cause the fight now resides with me. I love us all and without doubt we will be blessed.
