Obama: "We Can't Solve Global Warming Because I F---ing Changed Light Bulbs In My House"

I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Obama

While most of Newsweek's behind-the-scenes Special Election Project reporting reveals serious campaign issues on both sides, there's one funny moment when Barack Obama talks candidly about dumb debate questions:

The debates unnerved both candidates. When he was preparing for them during the Democratic primaries, Obama was recorded saying, "I don't consider this to be a good format for me, which makes me more cautious. I often find myself trapped by the questions and thinking to myself, 'You know, this is a stupid question, but let me ... answer it.' So when Brian Williams is asking me about what's a personal thing that you've done [that's green], and I say, you know, 'Well, I planted a bunch of trees.' And he says, 'I'm talking about personal.' What I'm thinking in my head is, 'Well, the truth is, Brian, we can't solve global warming because I f---ing changed light bulbs in my house. It's because of something collective'."

I can not tell you how many times I have said exactly the same thing under my breath during the last few years of listening to self-satisfied people chide me that i haven't embraced trying to read under 7 watts of fluorescent bulb because I am not Dracula and I can not see in the dark.

Changing light bulbs may sooth someone’s guilt, but it will not too much to affect carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere.

Half the debate questions were simply stupid - and Obama is absolutely right, and I agree with him completely. It will take changing our light bulbs, but it's also going to take much larger and more comprehensive alterations in habits.

When you consider that Jimmy Carter put solar collectors on the White House roof and advocated using efficient cars -- and was ridiculed for it -- it's clear that for a lot of people there is NO acceptable answer.

By the way .... has anyone ever asked that question of Bush or Cheney -- and would they get any answer at all if they did?

Whatever happened to those solar panels? I know Reagan took them down; but were they at least stored somewhere? Maybe they can be put back up. Gotta start somewhere, right?

He should pick up a little tutoring from Samuel L. Jackson - that should have been "we can't solve global warming because I changed the f---ing light bulbs in my house." - the f-bomb is used as an adverb after the verb in a phrase, as in "Palin is f---ing up again." Of course, we can use it in different tenses or as different parts of speech, but one has to be aware of its phonetic value for instance "McCain doesn't know where the f--- Iraq is", or "How did they f--- us up this bad in only 8 f---ing years?" - in the latter example, we use the f-bomb as the verb as well. But the way the President elect used it feels too Ivy League and awkward, but that's cool - I think he got his point across by telling Brian "that s**t is f---ing stupid" in so many words.
