I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Obama

While most of Newsweek's behind-the-scenes Special Election Project reporting reveals serious campaign issues on both sides, there's one funny moment when Barack Obama talks candidly about dumb debate questions:

The debates unnerved both candidates. When he was preparing for them during the Democratic primaries, Obama was recorded saying, "I don't consider this to be a good format for me, which makes me more cautious. I often find myself trapped by the questions and thinking to myself, 'You know, this is a stupid question, but let me ... answer it.' So when Brian Williams is asking me about what's a personal thing that you've done [that's green], and I say, you know, 'Well, I planted a bunch of trees.' And he says, 'I'm talking about personal.' What I'm thinking in my head is, 'Well, the truth is, Brian, we can't solve global warming because I f---ing changed light bulbs in my house. It's because of something collective'."

Wouldn't it be great if the "If you were a tree, what kind would you be?" days were over? I blame Baba Wawa, she started it..

"Infotainment" media aren't fit to print the news.

This whole little article made me think of every professor who ever told a class "there's no such thing as a stupid question." I guess none of them ever watched a presidential debate.

There truly are no stupid questions, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots.

After 8 long years, at last:

A president who's not an idiot.

A president who will make a lot of people finally realize that yes, we DO want an elite president.

This man is so smart, so organized, so focused, so able to keep multiple ideas in his head at the same time. And his heart is in the right place.

Is it January 20th yet?

I was angry at Stephanopoulos for asking about Ayers, but now I realize he did O a favor. I'm sure he though he was helping Hillary, but in the end it helped take the sting out McPalin's attempt to revive it.

Exactly. Own it and say WHAT! I'll be honest with you, I honestly think President elect (I LOVE saying that!) Obama and the good Rev. Wright did an old barbershop trick on ya'll! Ha! AND IT WORKED! I can guarantee you that if Obama had kept him close and didn't "Denounce" him, we wouldn't have the best President elect EVER! Ha! So our clever (and right about everything), good Rev. Wright went to that API dinner and "Shucked & Jived (Mac ver. 10.6)" and acted a fool, so that Obama just "naturally" had to disown him! Now, I'm glad he did it and I think it's GENIUS, but I can guarantee you, they'll NEVER ADMIT IT! Me no care... Barack is the MAN! Hooooyah! (you got to admit that's ingenius)

(on to the impeachment festivities for Bush/Cheney!)

Maybe it's time we un-dumb the press. Remove lowest common denominator coverage from TV, radio and print.

Can't be done! Like dogs bred for show, they are chosen primarily for their looks, and like dogs bred for show eventually natual selecton chooses looks over brains and you get a reporter with a very attractive but empty head!

Something tells me that Brian Williams and the missus aren't going to be invited to sleep in the Lincoln bedroom any time soon.

Obama used BW's comment as a good opportunity to make a point -- you are making a molehill out of a grain of sand.

I know. A lot of times he is a mystery and I'll be wondering what he is thinking because he really had a poker face during the debates most of the time, but I end up realizing that what I think in my own head is very much like how he thinks. It's kind of scary sometimes.

I have a friend who ran unsuccessfully for Congress, and he said to me, "You know what the problem is with running for office, from my perspective? I get asked a question and I can think of at least 10 ways to answer it, but the first 9 I know I can't say out loud."

Your friend's quote is right! I feel that way everyday, the right answer may not be the one you want to say out loud. :)

He has simply got to make this his top priority. We do not have much time left.
