Oprah Winfrey had a special live post-election special on Wednesday, and screamed with joy over the victory of Obama. Winfrey publicly endorsed Obama and campaigned for him, but hadn't really talked about him on her show since her endorsement last winter.

But as she put it on Wednesday, she is "UNLEASHED!" Wearing a "Hope Won" shirt and waving an American flag, she celebrated with unbridled joy for the first several minutes before settling down to talk to a panel including Peggy Noonan and John Lewis. She also joked that if Obama hadn't won she would probably be in the hospital today "on a drip."

The only reason to have NOT voted for Obama was Oprah's support. Gawd, I can't stand her, and am sure I'm not alone there. ;)

I love her. She's the only reason I supported Obama in the primary.

Just because you can't stand Oprah and you had not voted for Obama?! I guess it speaks volume about YOU, not Oprah, not Obama... sorry to say this, but honey, you gotta think bigger as an American citizen!

Then, girl, you're just sad.

I've actually worked for Oprah and it was a great experience. She was generous and real and exuded positivity. She's made a lot of people a lot of money, people are motivated by her to do positive things. What's to hate?

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!! ALL THIS ELECTION PROVED WAS THAT OPRAH COULD ELECT OUR
PRESIDENT. I'D JUMP AROUND IF I COULD DO THAT--HOPE SHE WILL BE VERY PROUD OF
HERSELF AS WE ALL GO DOWN THE TUBE.

Wow, it is VERY sad that you allowed your decision to think rationally and weigh all options about what is best for this country based on a talk show host ..I'm not an Oprah fan but would never allow anyone EXCEPT the actual candidates policies influence my decision to vote.

If we were all fortunate enough to have money like Oprah and shared with others like Oprah, this would would be a much better place. Hopefully, Obama will show us that way that will help each of us to help each other. It's together that we will rise, not individually.

Oprah "unleashed" - be very afraid :) But really, props to her to give a nod to those who voted for McCain-- a huge chunk of her viewers. Hey, who has time to stay home and watch this show live? People in Red states, baby.

But points against: when she said she wouldn't politicize the show and then said all bets were off because it was after the election. It's still a political act to celebrate so overtly during an entertainment show so at least admit it. And, as you know, the political is personal so she's got to be careful not to offend her base.

Plenty of pot heads in Blue states stay home too... I should know, I used to be one of them.

I relate.

As I told my class, "I didn't talk about it before.

But yesterday Obama was "politics".

Today, he is HISTORY.

My taxes will go up, too. I've been really fortunate in my life.
One of the things that annoyed me was when McCain characterized Obama's tax plan as "punishing" people for working hard and doing well.
Let me tell you something. All jokes aside--paying my taxes in proportion to my share of the wealth is my obligation. It is not a punishment. In a way, it's a privilege. When the Bush tax cuts went through and the crap hit the fan, and school lunch got cancelled along with food stamps for dependent children, people who benefited from the tax cuts were polled, and a goodly number of them said they'd rather pay the taxes and have services. From what I've seen of Oprah, she would probably say the same thing.
Good old Oprah. I told everybody that if Barack didn't win, I was going to put my head in the oven, and it's an electric oven, so it wouldn't be pretty.
Thank GAWD he's our President Elect!

My first introduction to Barack Obama was on the Oprah show -long before he introduced his run for the presidency. I knew then that this was special and unique man, and someone I wanted to learn more about. As I have followed his steady and moral climb towards Commander and Chief, all my initial instincts about him have proven to be true.

Because of his ethical actions and the goodness of his character -as well his stance on important issues- I have dared to believe that we could actually have integrtiy restored back into our government.

Obama inspired me to write this song/video -in support of our children -our future generations! It is titled, 'For the Children' and it is my gift of love to the planet. I hope it touches and inspires all who watch it -as Barack Obama has inspired me! Here is a youtube link to share as you feel moved: -Lynn Zanetta http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gi3VNLhHq4

I just saw this video. Wow - it is truly inspirational! The music and the images become one message that is so beautiful, so deeply touching . I encourage everyone to see it! Oprah should see this! - Ellen should see it; and Barack Obama, and Angelina & Brad, Ted Kennedy, Peter Coyote, and Conan O'Brien! This should be required viewing for all humans! I really hope it spreads around the world. What a gift . . . Thank you, Lynn Zanetta for sharing this lovely gift with all of us!

I guess for some people, the country means more to them than money.

As well it should.

Others love to wrap themselves in the flag...as long as they don't have to pay for it.

It seems that the republican party is the people who want to hang on to their money. And not all of them, thank goodness. Americans should think of helping each other, not filling their pockets with cash. Richness of heart brings richness of wealth to you. The more you give, the more you shall receive. Our country is this way now because of those men who cared about their wallets instead of their neighbors and that's why America is suffering.

Life begins on the inside. Money doesn't buy pride and hope and integrity .... however, it greases the axels nicely.
