In an interview with the Huffington Post, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. -- reportedly under consideration by Barack Obama to head the Environmental Protection Agency -- said that if asked, he would serve.

Expressing deep satisfaction -- almost relief -- with the election of Barack Obama yesterday, Robert Kennedy Jr., the longtime environmental activist and member of the Democratic Party's most cherished family, said he would serve the next president if asked.

"You know what, I would be of service in any way that the administration asked me to be," Kennedy told the Huffington Post. "But I am also very happy and I believe I am being effective doing the stuff I am doing currently."

More from Politico:

President-elect Barack Obama is strongly considering Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to head the Environmental Protection Agency, a Cabinet post, Democratic officials told Politico.

...

The selection of Kennedy would be a shrewd early move for the new presidential team. Obama advisers said the nomination would please both Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.).

It also would raise the profile of the EPA, which would help endear Obama to liberals who may be disappointed on other issues important to the Democratic left because of budget restrictions.

The EPA enforces clean air and clear water laws. Kennedy, an environmental lawyer and son of the late senator and attorney general Robert F. Kennedy, has long championed a cleaner water supply for New York City.

As an officer and attorney for the environmental watch group Riverkeeper, Kennedy has taken on governments and companies for polluting the Hudson River and Long Island Sound.

I am so excited with the direction our country will be going.

I know that Obama is going to put smart people in charge and Robert Kennedy Jr. is an excellent choice for EPA.

Oh yes, do it!

This is a man that has dedicated his life to the environment and issues surrounding it. I heard him speak in 2004....just incredible intellect and passion.

Excellent choice, if not Al Gore.

Al Gore would be better at the Department of Energy, but it appears there are many other names already being floated to head the Energy Department. The EPA regulates polluters. That is RFK Jr.'s area. Gore's field is new technologies to reduce greenhouse gases. A lot of greenhouse gases are produced by burning fossil fuels. DOE would be about using energy better. EPA would be about cleaning up the mess after the fact and preventing future spills and discharges.

This could be one of the most important appointments in the world and this would solidify PRESIDENT Obamas reputation as an honest, decent and compassionate man who understands that tough people get going when tough times are upon them. RFK Jr. is a tough hombre who will place the health of our children and elderly above the profit margins or stockholders of DuPont or Exxon! Long live RFK Jr. and President Obama and I would like to drink water from the tap instead of a bottle!

Here is a major technology break-through the ability to produce fuel from algae, the process takes about 30 minutes. A Republican senator attended the event and it doesn’t even make local news. The Bush administration absolutely killed energy technology. I’m an Energy Engineer and I have witness the use of the fuel and the prototype system to produce the fuel.

Here is a link to the Web site with video from a bio-algae oil to green fuel demonstration on Monday 5-19-2008. They use the fuel in a diesel vehicle demonstration.

Here is the some information on the Dutch Company that has developed an algae bio-reactor that will produce one (1) ton of algae per day on 2.2 acres (equivalent). This is enough algae to produce about 166 gallons of green fuel per day. This system can be used to reduce tons of CO2 emissions per day from power/industrial plants.

Dutch companies AlgaeLink N.V. and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will cooperate on a pilot project to develop an alternative aviation fuel from algae. The announcement of the exclusive agreement was made at the Future Fuels Aviation Summit in London.
