NEW YORK — Attention, Mr. president-elect: Come Inauguration Day, Beyonce is at your service.

"I'm there. I can't wait. I feel like all of us, we're ready to do whatever we have to do. Whatever they want _ if they need me to volunteer, they need me to sing, I'm there, and I'm ready," a giddy Beyonce said in an interview the day after Barack Obama made history in becoming the nation's first elected black president.

The singer couldn't stop beaming after Obama's win over Republican John McCain on Tuesday. In fact, she was so inspired, she wore a blue suit and tie in honor of Obama _ with stiletto heels that were red, white and blue.

"I've never been so patriotic!" she laughed. "I'm just beyond excited."

Beyonce was supposed to be in Japan on Election Night to promote her upcoming album, "I Am ... Sasha Fierce," but decided to postpone it at the last minute.

"I said, 'What am I doing? I'm completely making a bad decision. I have to go home, I'm gonna kill myself if I'm not home in America,'" she said. "I knew I needed to be here."

After going with hubby Jay-Z, Diddy, Mary J. Blige and others to states like Pennsylvania, Florida, and Ohio just before the election, she watched the returns Tuesday night with family and friends in her home. She was not only inspired by Obama, but McCain's concession as well: "McCain's speech was so classy."

The 27-year-old said the win was particularly important for the inspiration it gave to African-Americans.

"My nephew, who is 4, when we say, 'You can do whatever, you can be whatever,' it's not cliche. You have no doubt that it's not true," she said.

The election even brought Beyonce to tears, though she says it was the good kind: "I fell asleep crying and smiling at the same time," she laughed. I woke up with mascara running and a smile on my face!"

Beyonce is cool - but she doesn't carry the weight of the event.

Try Gladys Knight, Pattie Labelle, Diane Reeves, Rachelle Ferrell, CeCe Winans, Yolanda Adams.

Chris Botti is awesome.

I find this quote from her interesting, "I've never been so patriotic!".
So wasn't she patriotic during his initial campaign?
I'd like to see a list of people who endorses him just before the democratic primaries and even halfway into them.

Forget her, Beyonce Knowles is a self promoting machine.
No class, all large a- - .

She needs to be stopped in her tracks now. This historic event is not a place for someone who aids the degradation of women as she does. Let the Inaugaration Committee know to "Not EVEN think about it!" It's a new day and we all need to raise our level of respect and conciousness and her especially. Let the Committe know how you feel. I agree, I'd much rather see Jennifer Hudson.
But truth be told, how about a singer who has been around since the civil rights movement?

To the Obamas, please put these performers on your "consideration list":
Earth, Wind, & Fire, Chaka Khan, Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, India.Arie, Jill Scott, maybe Obama's hometown singer Jennifer Hudson, even Barbra Streisand. At least Barack has confirmed that Stevie Wonder will be there (YES!).

No doubt that this news comes on the heels of her soon-to-be-released album. Self-promotion at its worst. She's overexposed as is.

The performer(s) should be one that can evoke true emotion, passion, inspiration. She does not do that for me whatsoever. YES, I SAID IT!! Lyrics to her songs doesn't move me at all, and furthermore, I'm just tired of her, period. How many times can you get on stage and just shake your behind? I still remember her booty-shaking performance at a concert for Nelson Mandela. Was not respectful nor dignified whatsoever. When I watch the inauguration, I want to see quality represented for the new first family, and not a manufactured image singing manufactured songs.

And for all of the BK worshippers, enough with the tired, overused "hater" crap. It's played out. People have a right not to like her music or how she is as a performer. YES, I SAID IT AGAIN!! I don't understand why she is considered perfect and untouchable. Is she some sort of personal friend or something?

You have a right to like her and enjoy her music and performances, but that doesn't mean I have to.

Hey! Easy on the BK natives! Some of us agree with her being "overexposed", and she can watch from a distance but please not onstage.

You can't leave out Diana Ross!!!

I forgot about Diana Ross. She should be added to the list as well.

YOU...are a person after my own heart with the performers you suggested...love evey one of them (especially EWF anc Chaka....REAL talent). And all of these performers are class acts unto themselves and would do a great job at selecting (and performing) music that's conducive to the occasion. There's a time and place for everything....and Inaugural festivities are NOT the place for booty-shaking!!!

My other concern is...I think it was highly inappropriate for Ms. Knowles to attempt to solicit a slot on the President-elect's performer's list. I thought performers waited to be requested (ie: Stevie Wonder) by whoever is in charge of putting the gala together. Think she may have placed the cart before the horse!

Mavis, Aretha, Stevie are my top picks. This generation of soul/R&B singers are too busy being sexy, glamorous celebrities to foster greatness.

Sorry Beyawnce. Not this time. While I don't have a problem with your music, the inauguration is not the time nor place for you to be half naked and hollering on stage.

Get off on my "caramel dream girl"

She performed with her friends (Destiny's Child) for the now outgoing president years ago.

How is "offering" to perform for this one a crime.

What's with all the Beyonc-HATE!....

This was not the first time she thought of offer this. FEI (For everyone's information)...It was
an interviewer who noticed her "Obama Stamp" shirt and suggested that she could perform at
the inaugural event... This was months ago.

For all the "too glamourous" and "not a REAL sista" crap they throw on her, she truly has an INCREDIBLE "work ethic" for someone her age that doesn't have to work any more.
When she opens her mouth when interviewed I here a "down home texas girl" thats grounded from good breeding.(And she's fine as hell) Unlike Eryka Badu-me, who spouts about "soul sista" and "mama earth" just to put herself in range to have a baby by any and every guy the limelight that'll screw her more than once. YUK!

ANN NESBY should sing at the Inauguration. Josh Groban should be on hand for another song too.

CASE CLOSED. . . .

I would much rather see someone a little more classy, someone who understood the civil rights era. I think he should bring out Nancy Wilson, Ella, somebody that is as classy as he and Michelle. Too bad Lena Horne isn't able to perform anymore. No offense Beyonce, you are classy...just in a different way.

Because Obama may really need her to sing someday.
