NEW YORK — Attention, Mr. president-elect: Come Inauguration Day, Beyonce is at your service.

"I'm there. I can't wait. I feel like all of us, we're ready to do whatever we have to do. Whatever they want _ if they need me to volunteer, they need me to sing, I'm there, and I'm ready," a giddy Beyonce said in an interview the day after Barack Obama made history in becoming the nation's first elected black president.

The singer couldn't stop beaming after Obama's win over Republican John McCain on Tuesday. In fact, she was so inspired, she wore a blue suit and tie in honor of Obama _ with stiletto heels that were red, white and blue.

"I've never been so patriotic!" she laughed. "I'm just beyond excited."

Beyonce was supposed to be in Japan on Election Night to promote her upcoming album, "I Am ... Sasha Fierce," but decided to postpone it at the last minute.

"I said, 'What am I doing? I'm completely making a bad decision. I have to go home, I'm gonna kill myself if I'm not home in America,'" she said. "I knew I needed to be here."

After going with hubby Jay-Z, Diddy, Mary J. Blige and others to states like Pennsylvania, Florida, and Ohio just before the election, she watched the returns Tuesday night with family and friends in her home. She was not only inspired by Obama, but McCain's concession as well: "McCain's speech was so classy."

The 27-year-old said the win was particularly important for the inspiration it gave to African-Americans.

"My nephew, who is 4, when we say, 'You can do whatever, you can be whatever,' it's not cliche. You have no doubt that it's not true," she said.

The election even brought Beyonce to tears, though she says it was the good kind: "I fell asleep crying and smiling at the same time," she laughed. I woke up with mascara running and a smile on my face!"

I don't know. Beyonce oozes too much sex appeal in her performances. It would remind me too much of that Marilyn Monroe thing at JFK's birthday bash.

The comments on this post are some of the worst I've seen on Huff. Why are you all so negative towards Beyoncé - one of the most successful female performers of this generation (like it or not)?

In a time when we should be more hopeful than ever, why are these comments so full of ridicule?

It is apperant Beyonce Knowles don't have an ounce of class. Or her simple people who handles her air headed self should have told her if the Inaugural Committee of Barack Obama wanted her to sing they would contact her and she didn't have to say anything.
And she is not that successful
1. She can't act, they always put her up against strong leading men and women.
2. She is very country sounding and when she does speak she sounds illiterate and ignorant.
3. She should take some of that money she is making and attend somebodys college because history shas shown women like her don't always remain on top.
4. She has a good public relations machine and a very good manager and she wears little to no cloths.

Wow. I didn't know that you get to determine what successful means.

I never said she was a great actress or singer ... I said that she is very successful. Whether or not you like her - whether or not you think she is educated - she is valued at more than $300 million dollars. I would say that any person generating that kind of monetary worth at the age of 27 is successful.

Maybe she should go to college. Maybe she should speak more like you. But who are you to determine what she should do? And further who are you to suggest that she is low class? Makes you sound like a bit of an elitist if you ask me.

You make a point that she should have waited for the Inaugural Committee to invite her to sing. I don't understand that point either. This is an interview about how she felt about Obama's triumph. Being a world renown entertainer (whether you agree or not) of course she might mention her interest in performing. It seems like your problem should be with the reporting of this statement - not with the person who made the statement.

Not trying to be critical here, but i just don't get it.

"It is apperant Beyonce Knowles don't have an ounce of class. Or her simple people who handles her air headed self should have told her if the Inaugural Committee of Barack "

AlligatorShuz: it is APPARENT that you need to go to school. You can't spell and your grammar is awful" "Or her simple people who handles her...........

Can you act? Because we have not see you in any films lately and i doubt that you are any kind of critic. I bet your favorite movies is the Fast & the Furious 2.

I did not know that having a southern accent (she is from texas) meant that you have no class or sophistication. That statement is just ignorant. I have heard her speak and she is very well spoken.

If you have not noticed Beyonce has been around close 10 years now so i think that she has longevity in the entertainment business.

YOu are just showing your insecurity and low self esteem.

Whats wrong with Beyonce offering to perform for OUR president - closed mouth never gets fed.

Personally I like Beyonce. But she is a formulated studio artist that has been marketed to maximize dollars. That is what makes her successful. Not her artistic ability, which is nil.

I'm just sayin....

What an ego! Why would anybody pick her over all the truly talented people to choose from?

How about we get someone who TRULY represents this change, as did his song "Imagine" on American Idol. David Archuleta, and his performance, put tears in my eyes... it was full of hope and he was so sincere when he said that he loved the message in it.

Why I'm going to go watch it right now..... and enjoy a few more tears of JOY!

Why so many negative comments? She just expressed her feelings and people are calling her trashy, etc. And why is everyone naming all of these old people for possible singers, maybe Obama doesn't want some old washed up act at his inauguration. He is another generation.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:32 AM on 11/07/2008

Washed up old acts, huh? Everything that's current isn't necessarily good. Beyonce can only hope that anyone still wants to hear her music next year much less twenty or more years from now. As for "another generation" , Obama is young by presidential standards, but he is not young. Beyonce is not from his generation, she's young enough to be his daughter.

I would HOPE Obama would choose acts classy as himself for the inaugural event. And that would leave out Beyonce. Sorry, honey. You just don't have it.

yes, and Jennifer Hudson has a much better voice. Although with her recent family tragedy she probably won't be up for much celebrating.

Agreed. We don't need a Marilyn Monroe moment. We need a scandal free president-so stay home B.

Aretha Franklin, singing Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come."

For the National Anthem, a nice operatic voice. It's a pity Bryn Terfel is Welsh and not American.

"It's been a long, a long time comin'
But I know my change has got to come"
