NEW YORK — Attention, Mr. president-elect: Come Inauguration Day, Beyonce is at your service.

"I'm there. I can't wait. I feel like all of us, we're ready to do whatever we have to do. Whatever they want _ if they need me to volunteer, they need me to sing, I'm there, and I'm ready," a giddy Beyonce said in an interview the day after Barack Obama made history in becoming the nation's first elected black president.

The singer couldn't stop beaming after Obama's win over Republican John McCain on Tuesday. In fact, she was so inspired, she wore a blue suit and tie in honor of Obama _ with stiletto heels that were red, white and blue.

"I've never been so patriotic!" she laughed. "I'm just beyond excited."

Beyonce was supposed to be in Japan on Election Night to promote her upcoming album, "I Am ... Sasha Fierce," but decided to postpone it at the last minute.

"I said, 'What am I doing? I'm completely making a bad decision. I have to go home, I'm gonna kill myself if I'm not home in America,'" she said. "I knew I needed to be here."

After going with hubby Jay-Z, Diddy, Mary J. Blige and others to states like Pennsylvania, Florida, and Ohio just before the election, she watched the returns Tuesday night with family and friends in her home. She was not only inspired by Obama, but McCain's concession as well: "McCain's speech was so classy."

The 27-year-old said the win was particularly important for the inspiration it gave to African-Americans.

"My nephew, who is 4, when we say, 'You can do whatever, you can be whatever,' it's not cliche. You have no doubt that it's not true," she said.

The election even brought Beyonce to tears, though she says it was the good kind: "I fell asleep crying and smiling at the same time," she laughed. I woke up with mascara running and a smile on my face!"

Sorry Beyonce all that screaming and yelping will shatter way to many windows. Stay home already.

Absolutely not! I don't want that girl anywhere near our new president! I don't care if Jay-Z did campaign for Obama, and I wasn't too thrilled about that either. Her presence would just cheapen the inauguration. This is not the BET Awards! There must be a way to stop this from happening. I am begging Michelle to disallow it right now. I hope those responsible for booking the performers for the affair have gotten wind of this and have declined Beyonce's offer. Honestly, she couldn't even wait to be asked, as if there are no other singers that the Obamas would want at this once in a lifetime event? I guess Gladys Knight, Aretha Franklin, and Nancy Wilson are just some old chicks with fabulous voices that no one would ever want to hear sing at an engagement such as this? Beyonce, put some clothes on and get over yourself!

Sorry, as much as I like Aretha, naw..just too da.mn f.at. She has been eating too da.mn much and it is not attractive. She would be bust!ng at the seams. Love the woman but No Way. She took big boned a little too far.

Wow that was mean! It's no secret that Aretha is big and doesn't seem interested in losing weight, but the fact is the woman can sing that daylights out of Beyonce and any of these girls who call themselves singers. And if Beyonce feels she deserves recognition because of her body then she's got issues. Seriously, have we really sacrificed talented entertainers just to look at young a face and a slender body? If so then we have issues too.

No unapologetic and arrogant crackheads on "the historic" night... AND DEFINITELY NO BEYONCE!!! Keep it real, and as less fake and Hollywood as possible. This president is for "the people", and not just one group. His family is as diverse as America, and so was his upbringing. Thirteen countries and just as many languages... SO LETS START WITH JENNIFER. Leave Beyonce and her new ridiculously looking hair somewhere between Texas, and N.Y.

She just wants more attention for her new album. Where was she when he was campaigning? Jennifer Hudson Pllllleeeease! Besides Jennifer has better chops. And after hearing Beyonce's version of "At Last", she is so not the one!

Honestly I think it should be a somewhat unknown. This historical ceremony should highlight Barack, not the singer. A star the level of Beyonce's will only steal attention away from where it really needs to be.

I like Beyonce but I'd prefer Jennifer Hudson who's got one hecka voice and singing style!

I don't think it's fair to ask though, since Miss Hudson has experienced such a horrific tragedy that will take time to heal, but if it was up to me, I just love Jennifer Hudson's voice to sing at our President's inauguration - a voice without the octave samplings I really don't care for in other R&B singers these days.

Jennifer Hudson all the way. Beyonce can sing...some...But she's got nothing on Jennifer. I pray she is getting through this tough time and will sing the national anthem again. Just do not let the lady who sang on election night sing again. She was horrible. Probably because of he cold air, I guess.

Today I was looking at the pictures on Huff Post of reactions around the world and BB King happened to be playing on my iPod. It was perfect. I brought tears to my eyes in a steady stream.

I can not think of a more moving scene than BB King singing the National Anthem and then presenting Lucile to Obama and the nation to be kept for eternity in the National Archives or the Smithsonian to represent our national struggle and the uprising now felt around the world.
This is how I would like to open Obama's Inaugural Address.

Please B.B. KING!! He and Jennifer Hudson are perfect. Along with the Dixie Chicks and Sheryl Crow. Lenny Kravitz and Rob Thomas. Santana and Maxwell.

It is not fair to say Beyonce has not been working for Obama because she has been traveling and getting out the vote at events all over the country.

I think she has a GREAT voice but I sure would like to see Jennifer Hudson, Chrisette Michele, and Jazmine Sullivan perform at inagural events.... I would be clued to CSPAN for that.

No offense to Beyonce, but she is not the one... It was rather tacky of her to put this out there, the bottom line is allow our new President to make his own choice along with his 1st classy lady......
