NEW YORK — Attention, Mr. president-elect: Come Inauguration Day, Beyonce is at your service.

"I'm there. I can't wait. I feel like all of us, we're ready to do whatever we have to do. Whatever they want _ if they need me to volunteer, they need me to sing, I'm there, and I'm ready," a giddy Beyonce said in an interview the day after Barack Obama made history in becoming the nation's first elected black president.

The singer couldn't stop beaming after Obama's win over Republican John McCain on Tuesday. In fact, she was so inspired, she wore a blue suit and tie in honor of Obama _ with stiletto heels that were red, white and blue.

"I've never been so patriotic!" she laughed. "I'm just beyond excited."

Beyonce was supposed to be in Japan on Election Night to promote her upcoming album, "I Am ... Sasha Fierce," but decided to postpone it at the last minute.

"I said, 'What am I doing? I'm completely making a bad decision. I have to go home, I'm gonna kill myself if I'm not home in America,'" she said. "I knew I needed to be here."

After going with hubby Jay-Z, Diddy, Mary J. Blige and others to states like Pennsylvania, Florida, and Ohio just before the election, she watched the returns Tuesday night with family and friends in her home. She was not only inspired by Obama, but McCain's concession as well: "McCain's speech was so classy."

The 27-year-old said the win was particularly important for the inspiration it gave to African-Americans.

"My nephew, who is 4, when we say, 'You can do whatever, you can be whatever,' it's not cliche. You have no doubt that it's not true," she said.

The election even brought Beyonce to tears, though she says it was the good kind: "I fell asleep crying and smiling at the same time," she laughed. I woke up with mascara running and a smile on my face!"

I'm sorry people but this song has to be sung by somebody who can "blow" slang word for someone who can sing really, really well. Maybe someone who sings gospel e.g. Yolanda Adams or maybe one of the Clark Sisters because the pitches in this song; especially the part "and the rockets red glare" and also the words "yet wave for the land of the free and the home of the brave." Those words must be pitched perfect. I love that song it makes me cry every time I hear it and on this beautiful special occasion, it has to be done right.

I knew it, I've always said that no matter how famous this girl becomes, and no matter how many times she is exposed to the world, she WILL NEVER STOP being uncouth, crass and downright tacky.

What the hell is she talking about!! Does she think the White House is a place to display tackiness and trash? PLEASE!

THANK. YOU!! I don't want Beyoddle or Jay Z thug near the WHite House. Nothing but a bunch of opportunists.

Jennifer Hudson and Aretha Franklin all the way. There are countless better singers out there and Beyoddle isn't one of there. D@mm she's such an opportunist.

OH MY GOSH, THIS WAS SO DARNED FUNNY, AND TRUE!!!! NO BEYONCE, AND THAT DISASTROUS "NEW DOO". Bring some grace, humility, class, and DIVERSITY to D.C.

Beyonce Knowles is only a pretty face. When she opens her mouth nothing intelligent comes out. She is arm candy for Jay Zee. What she should do is go to college put something in her brain besides air.

PLEASE, NO!!!!!!!!

Anyone but Beyonce!

God she's awful!

Seems nice enough, but NO talent other than promotion---just like Madonna.

What about Sweet Honey In The Rock, Aretha, Jessye Norman, etc., instead?

I honestly was not really that familiar with them or their music until I watched the documentary "Shut Up and Sing". After, I had the utmost respect for them for standing up for what they believed in despite all of the backlash for speaking out against Bush and the Iraq war when it was not a popular thing to do. Really WONDERFUL ladies. Great suggestion, what would really be a full circle moment for them!

She misses notes and falters in live performances. She's better on controlled songs, calmer songs. If this was a studio performance, sure. In January windy cold air, that's an opportunity for some serious voice cracking for Ms. Keyes.

I like Beyonce but I don't want to hear her sing at the inauguration. I want to hear someone else. No booting shaky and showing private areas.

I was gonna post this when the blog first opened. I thought my view would be the minority opinion cause Bey has fans that'll put Palin rallies to shame. Jennifer Hudson needs to mourn right now and Bey is trying to capitalize by offering her services publicly. It's tacky, but it's pure southside Houston-style.

She should know this is NOT a BET Award Show. Beyonce has been silent the entire campaign and she's just inserting herself to capitalize on the situation. She's not a great singer. We do NOT want to hear vibrato for 12 min. on a 3 min. song. No scantily clad, synchronized dancers, fireworks or other diva moves. And that goes for Celine Dion, Patti, Aretha, Whitney, Mariah, Alicia Keys, Chaka Khan, and anyone else they can pull up. No freakish diva ego crap. Matter of fact. . . . give it to some unknown quantity. They don't have to black, nor female. That's getting a lil redundant at this point. I even sighed when the lady trotted out to sing before his acceptance speech. Love the sistas, but it's time to give someone else a chance at singing a song, dang! Besides, when was the last time we've heard a good anthem rendition from a male or latino vocalist at a major event???

Get Josh Groban. . . . . Gloria Estefan. . . .Luis Miguel. . . .something! Anything but the same o same o. Anyone agree with this?

I think you're one of those crazed Beyonce fans with no other frame of reference outside of R&B and Hip Hop. Of the ones I suggested, you probably don't even know who they are.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:47 PM on 11/06/2008

I definately agree that I do not want Beyonce to sing. She needs to learn how to put some clothes on first. After all, President Obama is raising young ladies not booty shaking divas. However, I would live to see the likes of Jill Scott, Gladys Knight, or Jennifer Hudson if she would be up to it. Just NO Beyonce, please!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:54 PM on 11/06/2008

Can anyone read?
"After going with hubby Jay-Z, Diddy, Mary J. Blige and others to states like Pennsylvania, Florida, and Ohio just before the election,"

Her husband gave a free concert in Florida to register voters and encourage them to vote...and didn't we win Florida?

I was in Nevada and saw a few stars there knocking on doors and no one knew they were there except the ones who opened the door to find a star on their doorstep. It's not always publicized because they are doing it for Obama not themselves.

Don't be such haters, this is everyone's party now...Obama made that clear.

Thank you, thank you robXdion!

I totally agree with you. I could not have said it better myself. This is not that type of event and me being AA myself, I hope all will understand that he is not just our president, he will be the President of the UNITED (key word here) States. This is a historic time, a new administration, a new leader who just happens to be AA.

I'm sorry to say but this is an entire new level of power. A since of power that Beyonce, Jay - Z, Sean Combs, Mary J. Blige (and the list goes on and on) will never achieve. There are so many other artists that would fit the bill. I have faith in the Obama Administration that they will look outside the box.

They are entertainers (which also goes for the professional athlete) & that's simply it. Can we please look at other professions as a career goal? Can we inspire our youth to do something else other than chukin' and jivin'? Maybe picking up a book instead of a football.

Thanks for the years of your music but there is a new chief on board and now we are finally able to lure our children away from looking at any of you as "role models' which you never were....THANK GOD!

The last thing we need is a "hip-hop" President - look at Kwame Kilpatrick (ex - hop hop mayor of Detroit).
