Plastic Surgery

New York Times:

In light of drastic consumer cutbacks on spending, some dermatologists, facial surgeons and plastic surgeons are promoting the kinds of markdowns, coupons or two-fers you might expect to find in supermarket circulars -- complete with restrictions like "offer not good with any other promotion."

And it's not just injection specials. The Web sites of some surgeons list promotions like $500 off a single operation or $1,000 off a combination of body or facial surgeries.

This is AWFUL! It goes to show the true cost of these outrageously priced elective operations. Years ago when one had surgery, it was one cost. Now you have to pay for the surgeon, radiologist, anesthesiologist, labs and much more. It's insane. Yes, we need to overhaul medicine in this country. Medical lobbyists hate it but it has to be done. I'm still waiting for an answer why MRI's cost over $3,000!!!

I remember seeing a show where a college student was rushed to the ER. Her father was a dr and amazed when he received her ER bill. He said he questioned the hospital why they ordered the most expensive tests in the ER when similar, cheaper testing could've been done. He was a dr so they couldn't get over on them with a phony answer.
