BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The United States has accepted some Iraqi proposals to change a pact governing the presence of U.S. troops, but had reservations about others, necessitating further talks, Iraq said Thursday.

"America has responded and the Iraqi side has received the American response. They had some remarks on some of the amendments, which now requires meetings with the Americans to reach a common understanding," government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh told Reuters.

"The mood is positive," he added.

Why can't we come home now? This occupation is costing us more money than we can ever hope to extort from the region.

So if I'm getting this straight, after forcing our troops to serve multiple tours in Iraq, for years on end, Bush, in order to save face and not admit that the Iraqis are throwing him out, is proposing to sign a deal wherein a US GI who maybe gets a little rowdy off the base, in an effort to relieve the boredom/terror of endless deployments, can now be picked up by the Iraqis and tried by the mullahs in more or less the same fashion as Saddam Hussein. And the Iraqis get to decide whether the GI was "off duty" or not, and whether the crime is "serious." So if he's charged with theft, say, they can chop off the offending hand. And if he's charged with rape...

You think maybe we've put these American soldiers through enough? Is there no limit to how long we have to serve W's delicate ego?

I wouldn't trust any deal this failed and discredited Administration entered into, prior to Obama's inauguration...

Obama's 'presence' is being felt even more palpably now.

Wise Americans will seize the moment to 'cut the losses' in Iraq; because UNPROVOKED McCaint-bush war has only be COSTING Americans.
There has been NO benefits for Americans to being in Iraq.

US should move the embassy and personnel to the 'safer' Kurdish region. From there the oil fields can be protected. This will allow the Iraqis the revenues to build their own country.
And if Iraqis want to continue their 1400 year-old self-immolation within their own indigenous space, then that would be entirely up to them.

WMD? Still looking, America? How about mushroom cloud over NYC? That ole Saddam mushroom cloud was, like, imminent.

Why should anyone be worried about these trivial matters when there are timeline pictures of Obama's daughter on HuffPo to ogle today?
