Keith Olbermann Attacks Campbell Brown, CNN Over Mistake

Keith Olbermann has long gone after his 8PM competition at Fox News, Bill O'Reilly, but Wednesday night he started a new line of attack — against CNN's 8PM host Campbell Brown.

Olbermann chided Brown for mistakenly claiming that the last time the same party controlled the White House, the Senate and the House was under Jimmy Carter.

"The talking point got out enough that the anchor of another news broadcast at this hour reported yesterday that last time it happened it," — and here Olbermann turned on his Brown impression — "didn't go so well, and people who have been worried about the possibility of one party controlling the White House and Congress. 'The last president to do that, of course, was Jimmy Carter.' Swing and a miss. Her colleague tried to correct her. 'Bill Clinton.' Swing and another miss. Correct answer: George W. Bush, that current guy. Early 2001 and again from 2003-2006."

Like all the newsies on TV C.B. has alot of air to fill with her moving mouth. I happened across her show when the incident in question occurred and thought to myself "oops, that can't be right. What is she thinking? How old IS she?" Even Mr. Olbermann has thes occasional brain farts, so maybe he shouldn't be so quick to point his finger at another cable show chair. 'Cause when he points at someone else, three more fingers are pointed at himself.

Campbell Brown's husband is a huge Republican operative. That makes it doubly crooked of her to report outright lies on CNN.

Go ahead and attack a woman you don't care for. At least she has guts. Olbermann is so dramatic he gets hysterical about things that aren't even important to anyone but him. It does look like he is a legend in his own mind though. I tune in occasionally to get a quick laugh at whatever imaginary political situation is making the most of. It is usually so over the top as to be enjoyable for a good laugh. Especially his "worst person of the day". I love the way it is almost always someone innocuous (maybe they dared cross his path when he was in a bad mood), as opposed to a person who has truly committed atrocities that affects the American people.

Did you actually read anything besides the headline? His "attack" was merely a correction of something she said inaccurately.

If anything its a misleading sensationalized headline, that you fell for hook line and sinker.

Campbell Brown used to be center left (as she grew up Democratic Catholic), but in the last few years she married and converted to Bush/Republican Orthodox Jewish and is now having a second child to seal the deal. Her hubbie is a consultant for Fox News. She's now a neocon with some reservations from her dem upbringing.

Lou Dobbs is what Republicans used to be in the 60's and early 70's.

Speaking of my home town in Multnomah county, Portland, Oregon I found this bit interesting:

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Despite his move to the political middle, two-term incumbent Republican Gordon Smith has lost his U.S. Senate seat to Democratic challenger Jeff Merkley.

It was the first time in 40 years that an incumbent senator from Oregon has been booted from office. Smith was the last GOP senator along the West Coast south of Alaska.

Keith Olbermann, you have done it again!

For some unknown reason, I really thought Campbell Brown's
reporting was fair and unbiased. Yes I really gave her the
benefit of the doubt, but after the past three weeks or so, I have
been deliberately switching channels (much like I do when
Lou Dobbs is on) when Campbell Brown comes on! I started
to feel somewhat uncomfortable with Campbell, without even
knowing why, then she gave that NO BIAS NO BULL session
about SARAH PALIN"S WARDROBE, you know the part where
she claims that women are judged more often on their
wardrobe than men? The fact that CAMPBELL ACTUALLY
DEFENDED PALIN really opened my eyes, and my eyes have
been opened since!

AWAY WITH HER "NO BIAS NO BULL" SESSION, BECAUSE

Campbell Brown I have no problems with your attire whatever you wear is your choice. However,my problem is that you are now ready to keep President elect Obama true to his promises. Had you been watching, reporting and keep the Bush administration "true to his promises" as you plan to do to President elect Obama perhaps the country would not be in this financial meltdown that it is now in. The media and critics will now be looking at every atom of Obama's administration but keep in mind that Bush is handing over the country with more major issues than the American public really knows about. I don't dislike Mrs. Brown, - I have seen her go after the re-thugs pretty hard. So she at the very least tries to give the appearance (in her eyes) of not being partisan.

However, please investigate whom her husband is - take a guess.... It may give you some understanding of the box she may be in.

I didn't really have an opinion of Campbell because I had never watched her much before until I saw her long segment about Palin's clothing purchases. She went on and on about how there is a double standard for women when it comes to appearance on the political stage. She actually took up for the gop for spending that outrageous amount of money on her! That's when I realized that she was yet another one of the journalists who should go ahead and get a job at fox.

Kudos to Keith. My first impression of Brown was that she was pretty sharp. So I gave ear. Only to realize her platform is that of a preachy Pollyana who distracts the ear with petty issues. Campbell Brown has also parroted the meme that Olbermann is "far left." (In Daily Show interview). I am less concerned about KO than what that kind of (mis)characterization does to the national discourse.

Before that I was willing to give her a chance, even her newly packaged show is a nekked play by CNN for a niche market.

Countdown thing didn't seem like an attack to me, but I don't remember an impression so maybe I just wasn't paying enough attn.

Brown's done some good work (e.g. her take-down on Tucker Bounds), but after tuning in to CNN for years, anymore from 5:00-10:00 I'm watching Matthews, Gregory, Olberman and Maddow. They're just a whole lot smarter and rational.
