I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Keith Olbermann has long gone after his 8PM competition at Fox News, Bill O'Reilly, but Wednesday night he started a new line of attack — against CNN's 8PM host Campbell Brown.

Olbermann chided Brown for mistakenly claiming that the last time the same party controlled the White House, the Senate and the House was under Jimmy Carter.

"The talking point got out enough that the anchor of another news broadcast at this hour reported yesterday that last time it happened it," — and here Olbermann turned on his Brown impression — "didn't go so well, and people who have been worried about the possibility of one party controlling the White House and Congress. 'The last president to do that, of course, was Jimmy Carter.' Swing and a miss. Her colleague tried to correct her. 'Bill Clinton.' Swing and another miss. Correct answer: George W. Bush, that current guy. Early 2001 and again from 2003-2006."

That's a pretty serious mistake. Maybe she's blanking out the whole "patriot act" thing?

Well if these anchors get their facts straight KO doesn't have to waste his air time straightening things up.

blame it on the teleprompter...

Not sure I see an "attack." What's the story here? And c'mon HuffPost stop fanning the flames where there are none.

I agree with 4ethics. Sounded like he was just making a point and making things clear. This certainly wasn't an attack, especially not like he has gone after O'Really, Limbaugh, Bush, Cheney, etc. It wasn't even a worse person.

I think the reason Olberman was attacking Brown is because her attempt to associate Carter with Obama--predicting a failed Obama administration. I've heard her make similar comments, so I think that is where the attack of Brown was coming from--if you call it an attack.

"And c'mon HuffPost stop fanning the flames where there are none." and then do what?

I think he does need to tone it down a little. He's best when he takes the high road and, as Obama put it, uses a scalpel rather than a hatchet in criticizing other media figures. This did seem petty.

Correcting his so-called Competition because they get important facts wrong is not "petty". If a political "journalist" doesn't know that the Republicans controlled Congress for 6 out of the last 8 years, they should not be "journalists". This shows that although Campbell Brown was reading the news on the Today Show for all those years, she wasn't really comprehending what she was reading. It's inexcusable.

Like I said a thousand times, Keith just doesn't like those women who are smarter than him.

I don't think he likes women at all.

no Keith just doesn't like women who are stupid, perhaps like yourself.

What do Campbell Brown and intelligence have to do with one another?

Are this some type of attempt to bad-mouth Rachel or are you calling Hannity a woman?

Like KO and MSNBC can even afford to poke fun at Campbell Brown and CNN.

Jealous much, Keith.

It was sad to watch Keith last night. Two days after the election he is still going on about McCain and Palin. He was downright boring. Spent too much time talking about Barney the dog like it was real news. This is how it starts, then his ratings drop and he's off the air.

OMG - he is so pathetic. This guy is going to keep bashing McCain and Palin at least for another month, I am sure.

He still hasn't let go of the Hillary bashing completely. He is going to be lost with George W too.

He won't have anyone to bash once Obama takes office, that's for sure.

I guess he will go back to the 24/7 butt kissing then.

Yes, I agree. Fox is much more interesting to watch now. It's a front-row seat to the GOP Circular Firing Squad.

Watching MSNBC is like watching a really good rowing team, where all the oars go into the water at the exact same time. It's boring because the team they are covering is working well.

I am pretty sure she was referring to the last time that there was a filibuster proof senate. To the best of my knowledge, that would have been the Carter administration.

Looking at the tape, it's obvious she was not talking about a filibuster proof senate. If she was, she is a pizz-poor journalist for not making herself clear to begin with and not clarifying that this is what she meant when King tried to correct her (with more incorrect information).

Campbell Brown was making a lot of mistakes that night. She seriously asked King earlier why CNN hadn't called Pennsylvania yet. King had to light up PA on the map and explain to her that the polls had just closed and no votes had been reported yet.

Maybe she will give it up and just go on maternity leave real early.

KO may occasionally go over the top or even goof; but just so long as he admits his mistakes and remains intellectually honest, he'll remain the best guy on the tubes.

No guts; no glory.

Olbermann has been performing a valuable service to the country by calling out the utter BS from the right wing GOP media idiots at Fox News, talk radio, and where ever else they spout their crap. And that's the fact Jack.

KO should be a National Hero for calling Pres. Shrub out on his /ies & bu// 2 years ago when the rest of the media were happily duck-stpping behind him.
