I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Keith Olbermann has long gone after his 8PM competition at Fox News, Bill O'Reilly, but Wednesday night he started a new line of attack — against CNN's 8PM host Campbell Brown.

Olbermann chided Brown for mistakenly claiming that the last time the same party controlled the White House, the Senate and the House was under Jimmy Carter.

"The talking point got out enough that the anchor of another news broadcast at this hour reported yesterday that last time it happened it," — and here Olbermann turned on his Brown impression — "didn't go so well, and people who have been worried about the possibility of one party controlling the White House and Congress. 'The last president to do that, of course, was Jimmy Carter.' Swing and a miss. Her colleague tried to correct her. 'Bill Clinton.' Swing and another miss. Correct answer: George W. Bush, that current guy. Early 2001 and again from 2003-2006."

Everyone who complains about KO need ask themselves this; Who else is truly speaking "Truth ot Power"? Yeah, he MIGHT go a bit overboard from time to time, but at least he goes overboard with the GOOD ANGELS! So of you would rather have a pretty lie than the sarcastic truth!

A VERY misleading headline here Huffpo. Trying to stir-up something that's not there is never a good thing. The purpose is for what?
I didn't see any "attack" that you proclaimed, just a dicussion about an error in reporting followed by an interview with CC about Congressional seats that are still undecided.
If CB's name wasn't in the headline I wouldn't have even given her a second of thought.

Yes. That's how I saw. This is stirring up the pot in my opinion.

Agree. It wasn't an ''Attack". It was a correction of a significant piece of misinformation.

Keith is right and has the facts to back him. Why pointing out mistakes in another network this is ATTACKING?

I do think it is important to know your facts before you report incorrect information.

KEITH IS GREAT!

Imagine all the things other networks and anchors could point out about MNSBC, if they really were petty like Keith and spent their journalism career just making fun of just about anyone that doesn't agree with them.

ANd that is all Keith does. THis truth stuff is a joke.

Good heavens! Your candidate lost the Presidency, your party lost seats in both houses of Congress ... and your biggest concern right now is a television personality watched by less than 1 percent of the American public?

No wonder your party is in such deep guano.

I think it behooves us to be aware of all sides of an issue, bearing in mind that most media is owned by
a dwindling number of conservatives.

One thing I have to say about KO. He is always willing to set the record straight if he gets something wrong. I have never see anyone else admit to giving wrong information on TV. The incident in question was an on-air conversation between Brown and John King. I saw it live and immediately picked up on it. No one else on the set picked up on it or were not willing to set either of the two straight. I was mostly surprised that Gergen didn't jump in on that one.

I think Keith is doing excellent work. His and Maddow's shows are the one's I find most interesting on TV.

She may be wrong about the timing, but she's right about the outcome. It didn't go so well. It historically has not gone so well. But, no reason to worry. If it doesn't go well the public tends to correct that pretty quickly.

Keith is interesting. That is why his ratings are growing. Half the country is relieved and still a bit bitter that the MSM gave bush a pass twice. That the republicans have ruined our great country in every way. That it falls on the democrats to fix the huge mess they made of America. I'm sure his anger will become milder, but not today.

The headline got you to read the post didn't it?

Of course there is a limit to how many times this trick will work before Huffington Post destroys its credibility. You'd think they would care more about their longtime credibility than their short term click count.

I find the criticisms of Keith Olberman rather interesting and amusing and would question the sources and motivations. Let's let the ratings indicate popularity and take the cheap shots back to FOX where they belong.

To say that Olbermann was "attacking" Campbel Brown is wildly overstated.

That was not an attack. You are on during prime time on THE CNN, you better know what you are talking about. I love Campbell, but she was wayyyy off.

Yeah, "no bias, no bull" is just a lame attempt to try and be more cool than Fox's "fair and balanced", but Brown is a GOP shill, as is most of CNN. Blitzer and the other wrinkly old white dude are members of the ultra-conservative AEI, Brown's hubby is one of the more despicable Bush admin alums - something they should disclose to the public.

Brown is just one more partisan for the Right pretending to be all fair and unbiased for the ignorant masses.

You said it. I don't watch CNN a lot, but it seems to me in the last month or so it has begun spinning to right more and more. In a change election cycle, with the evidence so clear that Obama would win, I found it interesting that they would take this tack. I also agree that it should be more widely known about Ms. Brown's husband's affiliation, which seems to color her commentary. I'm not a fan. As to KO, yes he blusters sometimes, but, as others have said, he was the only voice in the wilderness for the left for a long time, so I'm prepared to cut him a LOT of slack.

Why doesn't Keith run over and put duct tape over Campbells mouth and do us all a favor?

Mr. Olbermann is getting too big for his britches. He's alienating HIS base by making too many snarky remarks. I would like to see him to stay focused and do less personal attacks. It seems that Mr. Olbermann doesn't realize that 1. most of the people who watch him don't watch Bill O'Reilly and 2. don't care if he and Ms. Maddow are beating Billo and Fox. His diatribes are becoming shrill and egotistical.

What gets me is that Olbermann has the skill and knowledge to be a huge voice in his movement. His hatred gets in the way though, just as the idiots at Faux News. Man, I might have to send MSNBC my resume and a video because I can go toe to toe with the best of them without being so petty. Although, this video was not so out-of-touch and am glad Olbermann is around to call these morons out on their lies.

You are missing the point here - Campbell Brown validated a false Republican claim. As a journalist, she has a responsibility to report accurately - and usually she does. Neocons have been foaming at the mouth of late with half-baked charges of a liberal bias in the media. Whatever the truth or degree of truth to that charge, this is the sole justification for Fox News, the only "news" outlet with an admitted bias in reporting. If the Republicans and Neocons are going to charge the non-Fox stations with a "liberal bias", and at the same time get away with slipping Republican talking points into their broadcasts, then truly all is lost. Keith Olbeman isn't being "snarky", he's being responsible.

I am SO glad she got called on that! That is a HUGE republican talking point, and she needed to be reminded that gone are the days when the press can just spew their talking points without being confronted about it!

Does she not even know the basics of what has happened during this past administration??? Huge faux pas! Shame on her!
