Last night, Fox News' Carl Cameron reported some astounding news -- according to top John McCain aides, Sarah Palin did not know Africa was a continent. Today, via Think Progress, Palin dismissed the story, saying a "small, evidently bitter type of person" made "foolish ... false allegations." However, she did not specifically refute the Africa claim or any of the other charges related by Cameron. Watch:

I'll side with Nicole Wallace on this. She's obviously the "small bitter person" that Sara is talking about. Yeah they picked Palin so ultimately it's their fault but really, I'm sure they had no idea what a power mad, ignorant freakshow hick she would turn out to be. I'm sure they thought she would be humble and grateful that they plucked her from obscurity in the 1st place. I mean come on, she refused to be prepped for the Couric interview? That's so stupid.

Exactly! Palin has been caught in lie after lie. Now, if she said the sky is blue and the grass is green, I'd have to check to be sure. She cannot be trusted.

At first I thought the aides have been picking on Palin. However, I realize she's getting what she dished out about Obama.

As much as I don't like this woman, I find it hard to believe that she didn't know Africa is a continent. I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt on this one.

Really? Then perhaps you could explain her response to Katie Couric to me and all the other Americans with college degrees who couldn't understand her?

Couric: “Why isn’t it better, Governor Palin, to spend $7000 Billion helping middle class families who are struggling with health care, housing, gas and groceries - allow them to spend more and put more money into the economy instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess?”

Palin: “That’s why I say I, like every American I’m speaking with, we’re ill about this position that we have been put in where it is the taxpayers looking to bail out. But, ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health care reform that is needed to help shore up our economy, umm… helping the … uh, it’s got to be all about job creation, too, shoring up our economy and putting it back on the right track. So health care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans. And trade, we’ve got to look as that as more opportunity. All those things under the umbrella of job creation. This bailout is a part of that.”

So she really thinks that Africa is a country? Doesn't say much for the schools in Alaska. Whatever happens to the republican rant that education is the responsibility of the parents?

I think the Palin bashing goes on only because she is a hypocrite.
She became a "Star" and every word out of her mouth was disected. She never heald a news conference and we all know why. If she had held a news conference early in the campaign - McCain would have gotten rid of her really fast and then would have picked someone with a brain.

We now have a President elect that advocates unity and bi-partisanship. However, I come here and find numerous comments advocating hatred and bias towards their fellow Americans. If I were to meet some of you face to face, would this attitude rear its ugly head or would you approach me with civility? Barack Obama himself said John McCain could attack him behind his back but not to his face. This says a lot about a person’s character. Many choose to anonymously slander and attack others while expecting those they attack to respect their civil rights.

“The other side does it too” is no excuse. The American eagle has two wings; a left wing and a right wing. It needs both operating equally to soar. If one wing dominates, it will only circle over our heads.

I'm curious, did you have this same view towards bipartisanship when from 2000-2006? Did you vote for a Republican majority? Do you support Rush? Bill O?

I don't know you, but I have yet to meet some one from the right who demanded of the Republicans what you demand from Democrats.

Man oh Mann you have my head spinning. I guess your point may be two wrongs don't make a right. However, I see nothing wrong with making evident the clear and present danger that is Sarah Palin. It is not slander and it is not advocating hatred.

Plenty of hate comments about 8 years of suck with Bush. Isnt need to make excuses about voting for obama. Obviously hiding excuses to vote against whites though. Thats racial hatred.

It's too soon to turn the other cheek. The McCain/Palin campaign has been the nastiest campaign to date. It's time the Republicans learned there are long-lasting consequences from their tactics.

For those of us who were horrified at McCain's VP choice, that revulsion hasn't magically disappeared because Obama won. To let her slink off to her snowy lair where she can plan her political comeback would be akin to letting Osama bin Laden escape Bora Bora so he could rebuild his organization unfettered in Pakistan.

Your comment speaks of hated and bias and slander, and while you may be correct about the hated, you certainly haven't shown any proof of bias or slander.

Thats quite a burden insisting Obama will catch Osama.

Kinda sounds like that new TV series with Christian Slater, "Worst Enemy".

What a joke.

So the "comments advocating hatred and bias towards their fellow Americans" are completely justified and excusable when coming from the neocons against anyone who dares to disagree with them, but when it is confronted and deflected back at them that is a terrible sin worthy of shame and scorn? It's true that for the negativity to stop, someone has to be willing to rise above it and respond differently, but that does not mean ignoring the vicious, false attacks and not calling them out on it. Don't expect us to take all of the hateful vitriol and not respond with appropriate condemnation. Let's just use an analogy that Dems are interested in "protecting the Homeland" while the neocons are pushing the disastrous "Bush Doctrine." Big difference in tone and strategy. This is why Obama won.

A slip of the tongue (or "gaffe" in our current vernacular) is not the same thing as exposed ignorance. Do you seriously believe that Obama thinks there are 57 states? If so, I have some mortgage backed securities I'd like to sell you.

Exactly, how the hell does Bill still have that job. What's amazing even more that he tries to plant into his viewers heads the idea that it is okay for a person running for a civic or governemnt leader position to not know the "small details". I'm sorry, but aren't the big ones the details that you learn later and the small ones the details that every person should know by third grade. No one should have to teach the VP elect which countries are not continents and which countries are in North America and etc. Somebody should fire Bill O'Reilly.

I would say it's because his ratings are through the roof. That's like asking why Jerry Springer still has a job. The more you talk about him here, the more popular he becomes. People LOVE to HATE others. President elect Obama's campaign ran on optimism not negativity. It's time we put our hatred for our fellow humans aside and form a more perfect union.

What is the scariest thing about the whole "Sarah Palin being ignorant" thing is that her parents were educators in Idaho and Alaska and somewhere out there are thousands of other Sarah Palins that they made sure did not have an adequate education. How could any self-respecting teacher let their kid grow up that stupid. If all this crap about her being stupid and her shopping sprees is a lie, then why would the RNC dispatch a lawyer (a lawyer, no less ) at who knows how the hell much per hour, with per diems in Alaska , buy a round trip air fare, and send him or her up there to retrieve clothing. Not even Ken Star went to that much trouble to get Monica's blue dress and panties. I think it's all true. She denies the clothes part , also. This does so coincide with her being unable to even throw out a name of a newspaper. For crying out loud, do you mean to tell me she reads the local newspaper and can't even tell you the name of that. No. This woman is a total dunce. Also, I think the Republican Party crossed some lines with the FEC and/or the IRS on this contribution with the credit card thing, like $150,000 plus maybe $20-40,000 more. That's bordering on the old Nixon suitcase full of cash thing. That's pretty loose. Thus the lawyer.

Yes, exactly. The GOP spent the entire campaign gossiping about Obama, now that Obama has won, they will turn to gossiping about each other. What goes around comes around.

Out of all four candidates, Sarah Palin recieved more negative coverage and gossip than all of them combined. We now have a President elect that advocates unity and bi-partisanship. However, I come here and find numerous comments advocating hatred and bias towards their fellow Americans. We should take his advice and put away our differences.

Did you catch the sly little comment she made, something to the effect; "If they don't say who they are making those comments then I don't have to comment on it." She said basically, she doesn't have to tell the truth then about it either. How unethical. She knows she said it, but lies about it because those people won't say who they are. Isn't there some kind of threat going on that anyone who opposes Palin will be destroyed? Maybe that's why they are not so eager to say it in front of cameras. But that's not a good reason for Palin, because she knows that people are being threatened. Gangster Girl shouldn't be allowed to get away with these tactics. This isn't East L.A., this is the United States where character is supposed to mean something in those seeking higher office.
