Last night, Fox News' Carl Cameron reported some astounding news -- according to top John McCain aides, Sarah Palin did not know Africa was a continent. Today, via Think Progress, Palin dismissed the story, saying a "small, evidently bitter type of person" made "foolish ... false allegations." However, she did not specifically refute the Africa claim or any of the other charges related by Cameron. Watch:

Sarah Palin came close enough to being Vice President, and maybe even President, in January. Her political career is not over. It behooves journalists to continue to report on who exactly this person is. It may seem unfair to Ms. Palin, but there is serious talk of her running for President in 2012, and the press simply must continue to report on her. That's what journalists do in a democracy.

ROFL...she said until she knows who it is she won't have a comment about it, after she commented that it came from a small, bitter person.

Another republican being eaten by their own party. They uses them and they throws them under the bus. Can't stand the woman, but she's another victim of their blame game. They picked her, they gotta live with their choices just like the rest of us.

Sarah Palin is a dangerous woman - as reported in HuffPost, her church belongs to a strident Christian movement that believes they have a mandate to hold dominion over non-believers, and boasts their prayers may have killed Mother Theresa (who being a Catholic was really a heretic).

I have to agree Kassandra. I'm new here BUT the Repubs PICKED this woman KNOWING exactly what she was about. Personally I think they did it on purpose. But that's another issue.(smile) Anyway, they KNEW she wasn't anywhere near ready & they picked her anyway. And now, it's all her fault McSame didn't win. Bull!!! They just can't help themselves. They MUST always blame others for their own losses. Even when they KNEW it would be a loss. I didn't like her personally, but I think it's time to cut the woman some slack & let her go home & do whatever she does in Alaska to entertain herself & just be done with it. If anyone is to BLAME for McSame's loss it is BUSH & McSame!!! People were so sick of Bush that they were against almost every thing Republican. Sarah Palin is just a pawn as usual for them.

This all just goes to show that Republicans learned nothing. They were slaughtered in the house and senate and all over tv are talking heads saying, "what will the new republican message be?"

governor of Tennessee was just on, talking about how the message needs to be clearer, about unity and self reliance...

then you have this "most popular governor in america" that the GOP never stopped talking about in terms of her popularity, and there's all this internal back biting coming from god knows who, to tank the career of one of the few popular republicans in office.

I'm no fan of Palin's and I'm glad she's not vp or even close, but she's fine for the people of alaska, who voted for her and who are satisfied that she understands their issues, primarily energy.

So why are repubs tearing her down after the fact? They said she was great when they were trying to foist her on America and now that she's merely a governor, they have no qualms about sacrificing her rep?

THIS IS WHY THE REPUBLICANS ARE FINISHED IF THEY DON'T GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER.
All misdirection, tactics, dirty politics and NO MESSAGE.

My second grader thinks she's hot stuff, because she has a better grasp of geography than a sitting governor and former vice presidential nominee.

God help us all if Sarah Palin becomes president.

Don't worry. Her political base is as teensy as her political bank. You really don't think the republicans would allow a woman to be president, do you?

They came closer than they think.
No way Palin was going to spend 4 years staring up a dead horse's a** only to have to campaign for the job she feels she's entitled to.

Palin is a nonentity elevated to the national significance by McCain.
There are a lot of questions, both to McCain and his funs like Pat Buchanan, on why such a thoroughly unqualified person as Palin had been seriously considered for the VP post. The "country first" slogan was not just empty - it was obviously deceptive, since McCain put his ambitions firmly before the country of the USA.

When I first heard this story, I told myself, "nah, it can't be true." I mean, I wanted to believe it I really did, but I felt I was just being partisan, believing it because it easily fit into my lefty world view. So, I decided it couldn't be true.

Then, I caught the Couric interview again, the whole Putin raising his ugly head thing, and it just hit me. Yeah, this is very likely true. Palin is that ignorant. Unreal. This woman came within 6% points of being in the White House and having an inside track at being President. People are always amazed when some fanatic comes to power in some other country.

Now we know how it happens.

Listen very closely to her words. Not really a denial. "I won't have a comment on false allegations." What about TRUE allegations?
