ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin has returned to her home state of Alaska, where she was greeted by dozens of supporters encouraging her to run for president in four years.

The crowd chanted "2012! 2012!" as Palin disembarked her airplane at the Anchorage airport. Asked by reporters if she might run for president, Palin said, "We'll see what happens then."

The Alaska governor said she hoped to work with president-elect Barack Obama on energy policy. She was returning to the state after spending Tuesday night in Phoenix, where she watched election returns with her Republican running mate, Arizona Sen. John McCain.

It is fascinating that the most vitriolic posts on this board are posted by women. The thought strikes me that the attempts to utterly demean and marginalize Sarah Palin must at its core come from a visceral jealousy of this woman. The question is what is at the root of this jealousy? Is it based on Sarah Palin's successes as a mother, her achievements in politics, her demonstrated self reliance, or is it as simple and as base that she is the hottie that they can not aspire to be. One would think that given their candidate has won this election human decency would dictate that they behave more charitably.

I've just picked myself up off the floor after rolling around with laughter.
I'm darn sure that no woman who's posted here is jealous of Sarah Palin. I'm not jealous of her, I'm disgusted with her. Especially, it's disgust that a successful woman has allowed herself to be exploited by a bunch of randy old men who keep their brains in their pants, to further THEIR political ambitions. She's LET herself become their victim. That's why I despise her. If she really wants high political office she'll get her chance in the next few weeks. If Ted Stevens does win re-election, Harry Reid has already said that the Senate Ethics Committee will vote to remove him. In Alaska, the Governor doesn't get to appoint his replacement, she has to call a special election and can run for office herself. Do it on your own merits Governor. If you can. But whatever you do, don't let yourself become some man's victim again.
This is from a woman running a successful business, who's served in public office.

Don't be so sure that it is democratic Obama supporters trashing Palin. McCain's camp is squeeling like a pig with lipstick on Palin mainly because she's the "gift that keeps on giving". There are many young, beautiful (hottie), politcally accomplished Republican women who don't incite "vitriolic posts" and "visceral jealousy"...those who immediately come to mind are Condi Rice, Marsha Blackburn, Mary Bono Mack, Mary Taylor, Sarah Steelman. The differrence between these women and Palin is conduct, integrity and intellect. Palin labeled herself as a "pitbull with lipstick" but turned out to be a "Cujo with liability". It was "fascinating" to watch the time span of her introduction to America and poll jumps to her last ratings and overall disapproval. She's her own greatest liabiltiy in that she refuses to recognize her problems and believes "mavericky" is an asset. She's damaged goods and completely lost it for McCain...real Republicans won't touch her with a 10 foot igloo in 4 years.

I can't believe any political party *seriously* intent on getting into power, will allow Sarah Palin as a presidential candidate. Her ethical and legal violations are documented in the 'Troopergate' report, despite her claims otherwise; her racist rabble-rousing, shallowness and stupefying ignorance are recorded for everyone to see; she's simply not fit for the job. And as for a nearly-middle-aged woman flirting with and winking at the camera... yeuk. Not even in America, surely?
Aren't women the majority of voters over there now? Many women instinctively recognise Sarah Palin for what she is, we've met our own version and our backs have the knife scars to prove it.

Will check it out. How are about a search for Palin replacement... a candidate who is much more up to par in majority of things...

2012 - are you sure is for Palin not Fey?
I realize I am cynical, because, Palin does not posses executive human skill...
If she did... all saga would not be there...
All team will be tearing for loss together...
Wouldn't you agree?

The best way she can help President Obama is to stay out of his way and to keep her ideas about the problems facing the nation and the world to herself.

"Thank you very much and, of course, I was gonna speak to Alaskan residents first, so I'm sorry about that, but that's the way we do things up here, it's the people who come first."

"It was the thrill of a lifetime to hear other peoples' stories about Alaska, how much they admire the uniqueness here, the significance of this state, and um it was great to be able to shine a light on Alaska."

The depth of love she has for her own state is weird. And you'd think, just to be polite, she would mention a few things she had learned about the other states in which she'd just spent two months wreaking havoc. But nope - it's aaaallll about her precious Alaska. Disturbing.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems odd that hearing people talking about Alaska was "the thrill of a lifetime", more thrilling than running for Vice President. I don't suppose all her admirers in the Lower 48 realize that she was just on a publicity tour for Alaska. Of course, she could just be following her habit of telling whatever l i e s are convenient at the moment.

It's entirely possible that the depth of love for her own state way up north is the source of her lack of interest in whether Africa is a country or a continent or a whatever. Sounds like when she's up there, she really doesn't care about the rest of the world.

One can almost hear the voice of Edward Everett Horton the narrator for the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show: "Meanwhile back at Alaska Independence Party Headquarters we look in on the nefarious duo..."Oh Todd, it's so good to be back home. Natasha dahlink, here is plan. First we finish gutting Republican Party. Then we kill squirrel and moose."

Here is my advise to Gov. Sarah Palin, do not be fooled and run for any office again outside Alaska you will not win. See all the crowds cheering you and at the end of the day they went to vote for Sen. Obama this can clearly tell you something if I were you stay in Alaska and raise your kids. Even if you want to run in 2012 you will not win Sarah Palin because people have already known your flaws. It is not easy just think Sen. Hillary Clinton lost despite that she was a first lady for many, many years.

Sarah, on your generous offer of helping President Obama (I just LOVE typing that!) on energy policy, and your running again in 2012 (we know you're gonna try)...

THANKS, BUT NO THANKS!!!

Won't keep you...know you're busy getting those clothes together to give back to the RNC's lawyer.
10:52 PM on 11/06/2008
me too! President Obama sounds just so surreal; now a bag of nerves. ...sorry were you referring to the same sarah palin "genious answer to of US energy problems of the 21st century"?
11:06 PM on 11/06/2008
I've heard her mention a couple of times already that she'd like to help President Obama (got chills again! Love it!) on energy issues. Sounds to me like she's trying to get back in the game. That doesn't give me chills, it makes me shudder.

I don't mean to keep hacking on her, but I just think it's important that everyone see her for what she is and remember it in case she tries to take another "bite at the apple." I don't think we've seen the last of Mrs. Palin on the national scene.

ladydriver, you are right No thanks your offer to President Obama, try to concerntrate the affairs of Alaska. You should have known that Mccain was using you for his own personal gain. What were you thinking Sarah Palin to get trapped like a mouse?

Oh...I was thinking that maybe Joe LIEBERMAN should be her running mate in 2012. At the rate he's losing friends, he'll be completely out of work soon. That man will do or say ANYTHING to be VP!!!
