White House Dog Barney Bites Reuters Reporter

The Washington Post's Al Kamen reports:

Reuters television White House correspondent Jon Decker reports that President Bush's dog Barney, going on a walk this morning on the North Lawn, let his reaction to the news show.

He "bit my right index finger this morning -- as I reached down to pet him," Decker said. The bite broke skin and the wound was bleeding enough to prompt White House physician Dr. Richard Tubb to treat Decker with antibiotics. He will also be getting a tetanus shot.

Barney is soon to become a dinosaur. Barney understands that soon their will be a new White House dog in town, and he's going to have to live on a ranch in Crawford, Texas. Barney is understandably irritable and grouchy, and wants to be left alone.

Barney is mad as hell and he is not gonna take it anymore: the crushing of the GOP, his master's (Bush) demise, the ushering in of a new canine in the White House. He just had to take it out on someone and being a Republican, he chose a reporter.

I am all for protecting animals even when they bite people and sometimes are harshly euthanized. I have wish sometimes that irresponsible dog owners be put down.
This wish applies in this case.

Ehh- sometimes a dog doesn't feel good and prefers not to be bothered. You could see that from the beginning of the video- he looks a bit sullen and isn't responding to the reporter, kind of like Dana Perino.

Bet that reporter wasn't brought up on a farm. Lifelong assumptions : The dog always bites, the horse always kicks, the gun is always loaded. A caveat: Shetland ponies, being dog sized horses, both bite AND kick. Mean little bastards would probably shoot you if they could.

This is a metaphor for the last 8 years of the Bush Experience. Now, if Barney was impounded and his owner reprimanded and fined, it would be an even better metaphor for the future I'd like to see.
