WASHINGTON -- In the next few weeks, the Bush administration is expected to relax environmental-protection rules on power plants near national parks, uranium mining near the Grand Canyon and more mountaintop-removal coal mining in Appalachia.

The administration is widely expected to try to get some of the rules into final form by the week before Thanksgiving because, in some cases, there's a 60-day delay before new regulations take effect. And once the rules are in place, undoing them generally would be a more time-consuming job for the next Congress and administration.

The regulations already have had periods of public comment, and no further comments are being taken. The administration has proposed the rules and final approval is considered likely.

This man is running some private crusade against the human race. Either that or there's something seriously wrong inside his noggin.

How can this man still have the power to destroy? Hasn't he done enough damage to our planet? Can't he be stopped before he destroys it all?

With Obama, I finally have hope that our Commander and Chief will truly care about our environment and use his powers to protect and preserve -rather than to squander and destroy!

I live on 65 acres of pristine wilderness in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. I see myself as a humble steward of this paradise...and I am inspired every day to make our world a better place. I was inspired by Barack Obama to write this song/video, about our need to 'awaken' and change our ways for our children -our future generations. It is my gift of love to the planet and I hope it inspires all who see it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gi3VNLhHq4

The dumbest politician in the history of the world. The dumbest president in the history of America and still does not have a clue about the world he lives in.

If the Unitary King President (this one) can, by fiat, declare just about anything he wants to declare, then why oh why can't the Next President (That One) turn around and just "undeclare" the same things???

Why do people seem to think that it will be hard to fix this crap? Obama can just say that it's all null and void. Problem solved.

Is there something I don't know? Does the Emperor have clothes on after all? If a President can do it, a President can undo it. There won't BE any "controversy" over this.

The regulation changes have to be published, or they can't be enacted. JUST TAKE THE PAPER, ADD "NOT!" AT THE BOTTOM, AND SIGN IT!

After he has managed to dump the economy in the tank . . . he seems poised to take down the environment as well.

Does BUSH still have the "Nuclear Launch Codes" for our ICBM Arsenals??...I hope if he tells the military to start launching...they'll escort him to the "Executive Rubber Room". What you're seeing now folks...is the text book sociopath/psychopath getting his last licks in..before "power" is removed.

W has only a few more days to finish waging his war against America. One last chance to line his crony's pockets and destroy the environment. He wants to insure his legacy as the worst president in American history.

Bush and Chaney are going to ram through anything they can to burden women, children, the poor and the oppressed and give money by the fistfuls to their oil and business buddies - keep reading the news - call your congressional representatives and stop as many of these closed door regulatory changes (90 of them!!) before they leave office.
Be afraid - be very afraid.

So exactly how difficult is it for Obama to have a press conference and state unequivocally he will reverse EVERY mandate that Bush starts in the next 10 weeks?

As his last act in office, President Bush will have Paulson transfer the remaining Bailout Money to his UBS fund and turn out the light to Washington D.C. permanently!

One question that conservatives tend to ask liberals, is "why do you hate America?" After seeing the way Bush has such utter distain for the environment, working people, and the constitution, shouldn't he, without sarcasm, be asked that question?

Good news: Obama will be president in about 10 weeks. Bad news: George Bush is president for about 10 more weeks!!! SIGH!

This seems baffling... if I were Bush I would be on my BEST BEHAVIOR these last days in the hope that Obama doesn't throw the book at me and my administration when he's in power.

Yeah...well...that's not all dubya and his goons are gonna do...expect some more bombing in the middle east as well.

But it's all just the last spastic seizures of a dying administration....these things may be in effect briefly, but surely (as has already been reported) the Obama administration is going to move very quickly to reverse this stuff...whether through executive order, administrative directives, agency policies, or just simply cleaning house of all of the right-wing, anti-environmentalist idealogues and reinstating science as the yardstick by which environmental policy is drawn.

It just truly shows the mean-spiritedness which republicans have always displayed...but it'll be over in about 70 days....

Boy...those last minute "good ol' boy" favors just keep piling up on his desk, not to mention the last minute pardons. Such a sad ending getting worse by the minute...but I ain't sorry to see ya go!
