Recently, CSPAN rebroadcast a roast from 2005 where Barack Obama takes on his future White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel. Discussed are Rahm's past with ballet and the accident in which Rahm lost his middle finger, a loss that Obama said essentially rendered Rahm mute.

It's wonderful to have the weight lifted off us from the past 8 years.

With all the turmoil of the economy, too, I've noticed people being more polite and friendly...can't be an accident.

Even Jon Stewart commented how he noticed New Yorkers smiling, nodding and making eye contact with each other so much on the street post-election. I see the increased friendliness (including across racial lines) here, too, in my diverse part of L.A.

I love that he's our president and I love how he gets tickled at his own jokes. He's so appealing and intelligent and genuine. I'm so happy that I can finally have respect and admiration for our president again. It's about time. What a gem he is.

Me too and I love Rham and Barak. I think we need someone like Rham. It does appear that they have a good relationship and we will work well together. I am so proud of our new president and can't wait to support this administration

This man has greatness in him. What a pleasure it is to listen to him speak after 8 years of listening to a man who always left me with the impression that he was reading someone else's words and had absolutely no idea what they meant.

"The man has greatness in him" Yes he does. He is special and I'm elated that America finally figured it out. :)

He does and he is young and he has this swagger about him that just screams confidencce and it makes you feel so comfortable with him. I also beleive that he will be one of he great presidents, and he will also win the rest of the nation... I know there will always be people that are not happy with his presidency and that will be because iof their own issues. I do beleive that he will win many more people over in the same way that Mandela did

What's particularly interesting about this roast that HuffPo didn't mention is that is was for his efforts for a charity called CURE, which is for epilepsy.

The charity's founders are David Axelrod and his wife, whose daughter suffers from extreme seizures.

It's nice to know that after so many years of having a clown in the White House, our President-elect is a consummate straight man.

The introduction by Susan Axelrod will make you cry, but the rest will make you laugh (maybe).

Delivery is a bit weak but the man is a politician by day, so not bad.

OMG. Another speech critic. Just what we need. He ran for President not national comedian. After January 20, 2009, he will be President by day and night. Smoke on that.

I am sure this person supports Obama geez...it's their opinion anyway. I think most of it was hilarious and clever but some of the jokes fell flat too.
