Washington Post's Reliable Sources column reports on more Palin clothing expenditures, this time for Todd:

On top of the $150,000 first outlined in Federal Election Commission filings, Palin spent "tens of thousands of dollars" on additional clothing, makeup and jewelry for herself and her family, including $40,000 in luxury goods for her husband, Todd, our colleague Michael Shear reports. The campaign was charged for silk boxer shorts, spray tanners and 13 suitcases to carry all the designer clothes, according to two GOP insiders.

They can hardly be blamed for thinking they could do what they wanted. I mean their role model for the job was the most corrupt President in the nation's history. Why would they think anyone would care about a couple of hundred thousand for clothes and spray tans?

I've fought the big spenders in both parties, who waste your money on things you neither need nor want, and the first big-spending Neiman Marcus bill that comes across my desk, I will veto it with this Sharpie.

I will make her famous, and you will know her name. I can't wait to introduce her to Warshington!

How 'bout that Sarah Palin, HEHHHH HEHHHH?
How 'bout her, HEHHHH HEHHH???

I do agree that we are getting Palin fatigue, yet, nevertheless, she is an example of Republican looting, as they did with the overall economy. She showed no restraint, nor self-regulation! She IS NOT just like us! Who does she think she is to take dollars donated to the campaign and take advantage of it all. She really is an Alaskan Hillbilly. It demonstrates that she is only one thing--an opportunist of the worst type.

I can believe this clothes scandal, but do you guys really think Palin thought Africa was a country? I'm perfectly ready to think badly of her, but that one is giving me pause. What do you think -- true or s*mear as punishment for contributing to R*epub loss?

100% of this is coming from republicans. This is NOT gloating from the Democrats. Those who knew her & worked with her are supplying these bits of info.

Yes, but are the R*epubs trying to punish her for torpedoing Mc*cain?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:18 PM on 11/07/2008

I bet thats made up, and all this trash is coming from Romney supporters trying to tarnish her with her own party to make way for the Romneybot in 2012

Quite frankly, nothing would surprise me. As a former HR Manager, I've conducted testing for potential employees that involved geographic knowledge and have had many tests returned with the answer that Florida was on the West Coast. I've had tests returned that put China in Europe and India in South America. Why should Palin be any different that a large percentage of our population that has had a poor (or none) education in geography, world culture and current affairs. Not to mention Civics.

“We spent a lot of time talking about Africa, as we should. Africa is a nation that suffers from incredible disease.” —President George W. Bush, at a news conference in Europe, June 14, 2001

When we said she was like Bush (even moreso than McCain), we weren't kidding.

Neocons and social conservatives, and even fiscal conservatives to a great degree, celebrate their ignorance. They don't want to be bogged down with details. More information leads to nuance, and then confusion sets in.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:25 PM on 11/07/2008

Yes, I believe that she is just that ignorant. Her two oldest children are educationally limited. The
young man her daughter is planning on marrying is a high school drop-out. I'm not even sure if Bristol has finished high-school. This is also the same woman who could not name anything she had read recently, not even a newspaper. So to America I say thank you for not having her a
heart beat away from the Presidency.

Yes, I believe it. Even during the Reagan years, Americans were notorious for being poor students of world geography. Many of us have little interest in life beyond our national borders.

They still are poor students of world geography. A National Geographic poll found that most young people can't find Iraq on a map--IRAQ!!!

Pale-in's entire claim was to end corruption in government. But she is the one with an ethics violation and, in my eyes, a serious problem with entitlement that is just an extension of her narcissism. The problem with the rethugs is the glass houses problem: focus on the family until it is their family; focus on corruption until it is their corruption; focus on ethics until they are the ones with the ethics violations; focus on extravagances (Edwards' haircuts or Hillary's pantsuits) until it is their own over-indulgences.

This is not a gender issue. It is a fundamental out-ing of Pale-in who declared that she was all about "transparency in government" ~ until, of course, it was she who was being asked to be transparent with respect to the press, to her spending, to her witch-doctor-preacher, to her parenting. THEN it became off-limits. She is just the epitome of hypocricy and I keep protesting b/c I fear the short attention span of the American electorate and the idea that she will "re-fashion" (ee gads!) herself for a national run is more than I can stomach. So my contribution is going to be to keep the accountability alive and well as long as she keeps looking for the spotlight.
