Sarah Palin Spent $40,000 On Luxury Goods For Todd

Washington Post's Reliable Sources column reports on more Palin clothing expenditures, this time for Todd:

On top of the $150,000 first outlined in Federal Election Commission filings, Palin spent "tens of thousands of dollars" on additional clothing, makeup and jewelry for herself and her family, including $40,000 in luxury goods for her husband, Todd, our colleague Michael Shear reports. The campaign was charged for silk boxer shorts, spray tanners and 13 suitcases to carry all the designer clothes, according to two GOP insiders.

He is the Chairman of Cerberus, an International Investment Company and also sits on the Board Of Directors of the Aozora Bank in Japan. Not to shabby for someone who couldn't spell Potato. He is still active in Conservative Politics, sitting behind GH Bush when he endorsed McCain.

The most interesting thing about this is the continuing disarray (and disloyalty) at the highest levels of the McCain campaign.

It also appears there is enormous hypocrisy from McCain himself--talking nicely to Palin's face while unleashing all this "anonymous" criticism from his closest aides--and remaining publicly silent.

There are so many contradictions in the story of the clothing purchases that--entertaining as it is-- one can only be RELIEVED these people are not handling the complex problems of our country.

And when it was first reported how (the $150,000 worth of clothes....when she had been authorized to spend only $25,000) much she'd spent, she said that those clothes didn't belong to her, that she was only using them and they would be donated to charity after the campaign? Let's see, would that be the Alaska State Charity for Indigent Governor's? The woman had plans even then to steal the clothes, else why the 13 suitcases? Is she so ignorant she doesn't realize that every dime she spent has to be reported by the McCain campaign? What? She's been taking lessons from Ted Stevens?

Very, very unlikely. Bristol is too far into her own pregnancy to have given birth to Trig. Additionally, Palin is in her middle 40s, and the incidence of birth defects (Downs Syndrome) elevates dramatically in children born to women her age.
