That whole anti-American, friend-to-the-terrorists thing about President-elect Barack Obama? Never mind.

Just a few weeks ago, at the height of the campaign, Representative Michele Bachmann of Minnesota told Chris Matthews of MSNBC that, when it came to Mr. Obama, "I'm very concerned that he may have anti-American views."

They might as well have a sign taped to their foreheads declaring their lack of integrity. They were all asserting that Obama was "palling around with terrorists" but now they're ingratiating themselves. Just shows how fake these "real" americans are, lol

Obama will always be my hero for kicking (in a gentlemanly fashion) these types to the political curb.

I want to barf, but that's politics. Obama doesn't care and I don't think he'll seek retribution because that's a waste of time & it will stand in his way of getting things done. You've got to hand it to him - same message the whole way through. "Let's work together". I think his critics are surprised that he's willing to work with them. Maybe they'll understand that acting like an adult is the best course of action. What a novel idea.

P-e Obama is correct: move on. It is time for competence. The politics of lies and hate have already been judged - and they lost in a landslide. Still, it is very hard to look at Palin and not recall her terrorist comments. Now, we all have to support and help him fix the freaking mess these culturalists delivered.

Yeah, the whole thing kinda sticks in my craw as well. But let's consider the alternative...

Throughout this long campaign and inspiring election it has continually been a challenge for the rest of us to live up to Barack Obama's personal integrity and hope for a better America.

We know he has an outstanding memory and plenty of intelligence. Why don't we follow his lead and focus on the future.

That President-elect Obama is a better man than I am goes without saying, and yes, united we stand and divided we fall, but after hearing for nearly 2 years that I was supporting someone who was a ter.ror.ist, a com.muni.st, an appea.ser like Hit.ler, an el.itest and someone who hated America -- and that I was an id.iot and non-thinking anti-American ro.bot for doing so, right now, there's only one thing to say to all these folks now clambering for a seat on the bandwagon: Go! F#$@! Yourselves!

Look, people. Unless we all change, Dems and Repubs like, into more civil human beings, we're never going to get anywhere. I mean, it's like all of us here on these blogs are guilty of the very things we're accusing our politicians of doing! If we all can work together, find common ground, emphasis on common, then we can accomplish something. For some reason, we seem to have been conditioned to just keep on going back and forth with each other. If We stop doing it, maybe They'll have to.

Based on President Elect Obama's demeanor, I'm guessing that he can forgive a lot faster and more sincerely than the rest of us.

In addition, as a tool of legislation, Rohm Emanuel knows where all of the bodies are buried and President Obama will use this to the advantage of the American people.

As for those jumping on the bus, their sincerity will be in evidence by their actions. Just give it a few months. I have a feeling that this Administration knows what they're doing.

I would not trust them for one minute. They know they are out of a job. Obama should tell them, "You didn't own up to me back then, now I'm in the White House and yall think we are some kin".

I think that it is time for all of us to just "let it go" I am sure that President elect Obama..(how cool is that to say?) has. He is about the business of governance...

The legendary "Roseanne Roseannadanna" maneuver...

Gilda must be laughing hysterically.

The ship left the dock on the 5th, but don't let that discourage you from running up the boarding ramp.

We'll watch.

I'm not sure it has anything to do with them being on the wrong side of history or simply wanting to get on the bus that's moving. We do all have to work together to get the country moving in the right direction. However, Joe Lieberman is another case altogether. The Democrats need to throw him directly under the bus where he decided to throw Obama. For months, Joe has campaigned at McCain's side, spoken unfavorably about the Democratic nominee---and was even featured to speak against Obama at the Republican convention. All could have been forgiven if it was just a matter of endorsement of McCain---but making a constant public spectacle of himself against Obama sealed his fate to the bed he has made for himself. He probably thought he was going to be on the ticket with McCain; but the Republicans didn't think he was good enough for that--and were only too happy to use him in their tacky smear campaign of Obama. It's not a matter of forgiveness. That's the easy part. But, he's just not to be trusted.

The brilliant analyst Frank Rich, continues his spot on political commentary with an assessment of the "morning after" significance of Obama's election in the Sunday NYT

"For eight years, we"ve been told by those in power that we are small, bigoted and stupid " easily divided and easily frightened. This was the toxic catechism of Bush-Rove politics. It was the soiled banner picked up by the sad McCain campaign, and it was often abetted by an amen corner in the dominant news media. We heard this slander of America so often that we all started to believe it, liberals most certainly included."
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/09/opinion/09rich.html?th&emc=th

What Rich and others fail to note is that it is not simply the end of Bush-Rove politcs, but Bush-Rove-Clinton politcs, 20 years of a deeply divisive, dishonest, mean-spirited strategy in politics. More careful in their rhetoric, Bill and Hillary made the same attacks in the pirmary against Obama as McCain-Palin did in the general election, seekinng to exploit divisions of class, race, gender, geography, painting Obama as naive, unqualified, too different/exotic/extreme/not American, elitist, another Jesse Jackson, just another "evil man" seeking to dismiss women.

We will not have the Change that Obama has promised and can unite us to accomplish until we recognize this fact. Obama's challenge and opportunity is not to forge a bipartisan coalition, but to promote NONPARTISAN, AMERICAN solutions.

This is petty; but I have noticed that Gov. Palin always refers to President-Elect Obama as either "Barack" or "Barack Obama".

She has done so throughout her tenure as VP candidate and even now after her ticket has lost.

Neither the Democratic ticket nor their pundits ever referred to Gov. Palin and "Sarah or Sarah Palin". Sens. Biden and Obama as well as Clinton have always recognized her position.

To me, Gov. Palin's behavior shows continued contempt for President-Elect Obama or a lack of knowlegde of the basic rules of decorum/protocol.

It is not fair to make fun of someone so lacking. Man, even my young kids could not stop laughing at her (Africa is a country!)

I noticed that too, but didn't want to make it a big issue. I hope that she finds the respect to give to him, that he has shown to her.
