Undoing The Damage

Washington Post :

Transition advisers to President-elect Barack Obama have compiled a list of about 200 Bush administration actions and executive orders that could be swiftly undone to reverse White House policies on climate change, stem cell research, reproductive rights and other issues, according to congressional Democrats, campaign aides and experts working with the transition team.

A team of four dozen advisers, working for months in virtual solitude, set out to identify regulatory and policy changes Obama could implement soon after his inauguration. The team is now consulting with liberal advocacy groups, Capitol Hill staffers and potential agency chiefs to prioritize those they regard as the most onerous or ideologically offensive, said a top transition official who was not permitted to speak on the record about the inner workings of the transition.

Obama said he would review all of Bush's decisions and check their constitutionality. I fully expect him to do just that.

this is exactly what makes me sick when people say "i'm voting independent because there's no difference between the two."

if only people read some before they make idiotic, self righteous, political commentary...

I agree. How about folks becoming Independents because they can't completely reconcile their views with either side of the Democrat - Republican ideologies? How about just choosing the right person for the job, regardless of their party affiliation.

This was advertised on a web page. It is a new org to fight against Obama, claiming that his is a socialist. These righties will continue to slime Obama. When they were in power they called any dissent or questions of their polices treason. What the deuce is this?

Will they continue to poison the public debate with their lies? Yes, lying is all that they have. We must continue to fight against this crap. This is not the way to function in a democracy.

What is needed is honest debate on the issues. Not specious attacks. The policies of the right have failed and their ideas have been exposed for what they truly are, crony capitalism design to benefit the special interests only. Their only purpose is to spread the wealth from the public to the republican elites.

They will not give the electorate's voice for a change in policies to have a chance. They have won the class war and will continue to fight for all that they have won. The future of the country depends on the rest of us to fight against their lies.

Yep. the fight has only just begun. We won an election. And they're pis sed. We must not rest, because they will not rest. We must not give up, because they will not. I, personally, am willing to fight with the last breath that remains in my body for this Pres.

Well I know Obama will make most every decision based on political reasons. Of course he will, that's the job, politics. And to carp about Bush's decisions made for political reasons doesn't cut it anymore. Obama has to make and defend his decisions. It doesn't matter what Bush did.

Wrong on all counts. O was elected by the people. Bu sh was not. Yes, politics is involved but O was elected on the premise that he would work by and for the people, something Bu sh never did. As far as defending decisions, why don't we just use the Constitution--something else B-boy never did.

Yes it does still matter what Bush did. He completely shredded the Constitution and that needs to be restored. The promises made by Obama will be carried out. Obama guaranteed in a speech @ the American Airlines overhaul base in Kansas City that he would reverse Bush's most egregious abuses of the power of Executive Order. That speech alluded to this cadre of attorneys without specifying that he had this group already working. I, for one, am glad to see that he is working on getting this done. He may not be able to reverse every single abuse in a pen stroke or two, but this is not "carping" it is righting egregious wrongs foisted upon the American public by an unscrupulous president.

Psst. Your buddies here are still carping about JFK.

WTF do you mean "it doesn't matter what Bush did?" It's a prime concern.

No, the Dems can no longer make a living carping about the other guys, the other guys don't matter. The quicker the Dems and their supporters realize this the better for the country. Your entire focus needs to be forward, not backward.

Someone told me the other night that Obama supporters wouldn't be as happy a year from now as they were election night. As a woman of color and an American concerned about the future of our country I told her...I'll probably never be as happy, proud and in awe again in my life! Another tidbit I ran across recently is an interview Bill Ayers gave on election day. I've been waiting for him to speak. I'm thrilled he waited and even more thrilled to have read it.

I think a panel should be put together to investigate Pentagon fraud. The day before 9/11 Rumsfeld announced that the Pentagon lost 2.3 trillion. TRILLION. They swept it under the rug because everyone either forget about his 9/10/01 press conference or it didn't seem important to anymore after 9/11.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/01/29/eveningnews/main325985.shtml

We need a thorough investigation on military fraud. A gajillion dollar industry that was nowhere to be found for a full 1 1/2 hours on 9/11.

Bam Bam..........that is what your calling yourself right? Why is it so enjoyable to continue trashing the sight with your comments even after the people have spoken? Obama's a terrorist........didn't work!
Obama's a socialist...didn't work! Obama is a marxist...didn't work! Why continue the stupidity?

I have a question? What do you call George Bush and his republican cronies? Why would more of those policies which have brought America to near collapse in so many ways make any sense?

The first thing Obama ought to do as president is ending our illegal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, this is the only real honorable exit. This ought to be part of an overall strategy of ending American imperialism around the world, by closing all of our foreign bases. In addition I would recommend he and the congress cut 90% of the military or more, which would be in line with what most modern democratic countries have. Domestically the creation of an employee rights act which would be a constitutionally protected right for all workers to unionize. In addition we ought to make health care absolutely free for all Americans. But can all of these things seriously happen if the structure of our government and it's design, from it's inception, has been to protect the opulent few at the majority's expense? I am doubtful Obama or the legislative branch can do any of these things!

Agreed, we must give him breathing room, realize we will not all agree with him all of the time and believe he'll use his best judgment.

Far Right Nuts said/asked the same for mr pretzelnut. Remember? So does that mean it's/he's right?

Heck no, hold O's feet to the fire - we have allllllllllll kinds of PROOF that O leans far right - lets make darn sure he nips that miserable addiction in the bud. Sooner the better. The only way to nip it in the bud is if the masses say we love you O, but knock it off. Be PROUD to be liberal and quit acting like a pansy

I'm so with you!!! There's a lot of grumbling going on here and I just don't get it.
I was really excited to read about what Obama plans to tackle. He can't do EVERYTHING at once. Give him a chance. This site is turning into the Fellowship of the Miserable.

I'm one of those people who sincerely hopes that the first thing President Obama does after his inauguration is to feed the Patriot Act into the nearest shredder. That would make me very, very happy.
