Undoing The Damage

Washington Post :

Transition advisers to President-elect Barack Obama have compiled a list of about 200 Bush administration actions and executive orders that could be swiftly undone to reverse White House policies on climate change, stem cell research, reproductive rights and other issues, according to congressional Democrats, campaign aides and experts working with the transition team.

A team of four dozen advisers, working for months in virtual solitude, set out to identify regulatory and policy changes Obama could implement soon after his inauguration. The team is now consulting with liberal advocacy groups, Capitol Hill staffers and potential agency chiefs to prioritize those they regard as the most onerous or ideologically offensive, said a top transition official who was not permitted to speak on the record about the inner workings of the transition.

Better your dog than the Deputy Chief of Staff in any Presid.ential administration! However, I wouldn't do it though if your do.g is one of the many who knows how so talk. It might hurt her/his feelings!

You know I have this weird fantasy that our very own Sybil, you know that scary, mean old tro// with Multiple Personality Disorder whom we engage in battle on a daily basis, is actually none other than the Tu.rd Blossom himself, Karl Rove! You see WE are what he does when he grows weary with amusing himself by pulling the wings off of flies...

Lastly, I started listening to the GD quite a bit during this last 21 months of campaign, just to attempt to keep my sanity. If you know anything about The De.ad, as I will assume you do due to your moniker, then you will know what just simply listening to their music can do for a person. Anyway, now that O has won, I plan to purchase one of these stickers to place permanently on my vehicle. Thanks for reminding me to do that blessed little online shopping spree in celebration of our victory. They are all the rage in the People's Republic of Portland....

It seems not only America was waiting for leadership from America but the entire planet was waiting as well. The outpouring of celebration and "whew" that we didn't hire an old man and a brainless Governor is even assisting our image across the world and just the fact that Obama is president is going to create good will in work toward resolving national/international problems.

It is unimaginable that one of the first duties our new President has is to reverse so many policies of this right wing neo-con conspiracy of an administration to include the breaking, i would say secret breaking, of constitutional values such what is really taking place with warrantless wiretapping and how many so called prisoners of war have really died at Gitmo. Last count it was 107.

Americans were blinded by Bush/Cheney/Rove tactics over these past years because when the transition takes place I'm sure we will find extraordinary items other than just outing CIA agents, torture, 1100 signing statements, and just plain old breaking of laws. Obama and his crew must also watch Bush in the last weeks because Bush is taking action in many areas such as allowing drilling for resources in the Grand Canyon that will threaten the water supply of many states who depend on the Colorado for water.

And last..the pardon list...Does Libby 'get it all'? And what unannounced pardon for Bush's staff will be in place when he leaves. They broke the law too.

Now that Democrats have an overwhelming majority, Republicans keeps calling for us to take a 'centrist position'.

I'm ok with that.

Central to our position should be the complete eradication of the GOP.

What? And spoil all the fun? Stand back, let them eradicate themselves I say.

That's just their way of saying "Don't do to us what we did to you." They expect the Democrats to act in the same petty, vindictive way they did when they took control control of Congress. The Democrats are bigger than that. And, they don't need to work to eradicate the GOP. The GOP is self-destructing on its own.

With Obama in office and the Democrats in nearly complete control of both houses, they won't have anyone to blame when things go from bad to worse.

The current administration has left our democracy and our nation in such a mess, it will likely take years to undo. Therefore, your statement is blatantly incorrect I'm afraid.

Sure they will have someone to blame. You think that it will instantly get better? The republicans have put our nation in great peril on many fronts. It might get worse before it gets better. But at least we have elected a true leader. Not someone who was born to wealth & power like Boosh & McCain.

But I understand where your coming from.

You must be very proud of the "Great" job the Republicans have done in recent years.
It will be good to have the government back in responsible hands again.
Bloomberg report did an analysis of the numbers this week comparing 8 years of Clinton to 8 years of Bush. Man, this should be required reading for people who claim to care about politics.

Am i the only one looking for the restoration of Habeus corpus in this list?
this aside, i am praying Obama's administration goes after the evil ones and hold them legally accountable for the lies perpetrated in the inception of the Iraq atrocity and the perpetration of private contracts, and the nature of these. and a second, comprehencive 9/11 comission.

As the economic situation is a dire emergency, is there any precedent, constitutional loophole or anything or the sort for the President-elect to take over immediately from the dysfunctional, incumbant President without wasting more precious weeks? America and world cannot wait. The economic situation needs immediate action. Anyone?

Poor guy.. he's gonna spend his first 4 years reversing bush's work probably!!!!! well.. if you take the whole picture of the wars, the limitations of freedom, it's actually gonna take a lot longer than 4 years.. probably 10-20 years... But obama's the best man to begin the work :-)

I think one of the biggest frustrations I've felt for the past eight years was that common sense had all but disappeared. Not only Bush, but most Congressional Republicans, seemed to have lost their minds on issues that are completely and utterly non-partisan. Issues such as gay rights, stem cell research, health care, pollution. If Obama is as successful as I expect he will be in overturning many of the off-the-wall Bush decisions, it will indeed be a happy day. Common sense will have returned to the White House!

Absolutely. I have always been pro-choice while I would not likely have an abortion myself. I do, however, have friends who should not get pregnant. One is even in danger of losing her life if she carries a baby to term due to a congenital venus malformation for which she's already had seven surgeries.

When women wanted not to have any more children before Roe v Wade, abortions were either carried out by "butchers" who had little knowledge of medicine or the women did it themselves. I recently found out that my husband's great, great grandmother performed an abortion on herself and that's how she died, leaving her children to be raised by relatives. No one seems to know where the Dad was.

I believe states should retain the right to perform abortions in clean, medically sanitary clinics. No one is forced to have an abortion, but they should be available in case one is needed.

i can not understand this odd feeling that i have had these past several days... and then it dawned on me what it was...HOPE. and gratitude that we finally have some intelligence in the oval office. such a strange sensation and one that i am enjoying. go team obama, you have enormous work in front of you and the world will be grateful for your sacrifices! i suspect your families may not get a tremendous amount of time with you these coming months but please know the american people are hopeful and grateful for your oncoming changes.

Yes! No more turning off the radio or switching channels when the president makes a statement of importance.

I even have confidence that Obama can pronounce "nuclear" and other equally simple words. Apparently that was just too difficult for what's his name.

Good news. Sounds like the Change We Can Believe In is taking shape.

On the humor front, there is a video on The Onion's Website that pokes good fun at We The Faithful Obama Supporters. It's very funny, partly because it captures the kernel of truth that I think most of us who have sweated this election can identify with.

It's really simple. Some sites require you register, some don't. If you don't want to read the rest of the article don't register. It's nothing to do with Huffpo.

Yep, know what you mean. This probably won't get posted either, since the last ten or so that I've submitted were not posted, and I've NEVER violated the posting rules in the couple of years I've been here. I won't be posting anymore, since it isn't worth the frustration. Other blogs don't do this to their readers -- they're much more poster-friendly.
