Palin

Chicago Tribune:

A couple of months ago, there was a media kerfuffle when Oprah Winfrey said she would not have Gov. Sarah Palin on the show during the election.

Now that the election is over, the door is open to the former vice presidential candidate. A representative for Oprah's talk show said that "we have extended an invitation" to the Alaska governor.

Has anyone been watching the show since the election? Oprah doesn't seem like a fan of Sarah Palin in any form. When Gloria Steinem was on the post election show, she openly criticized Palin. Say that she supported Sarah's right to be wrong on everything. Oprah then mentioned an e-mail that she had received from Gloria about Palin during the election. She enjoyed it so much that she had passed it on to everyone she new. If Sarah has the stones to come on the show(which I heavily doubt),I don't think Oprah will do a fluff piece.

Yeah I saw that too; I think Oprah was really attracted to the strength of Steinem's arguments in the email.

I think she will do a fluff piece. Obama has won....she can afford to be gracious now. Other than James Frye, can anyone think of another guest that she has gone after? It's just not her style. Also, don't forget whom her viewers are...her ratings are already on the decline. If she upsets Palin's base....that would NOT be good.

Everyone in syndication has seen a ratings decline. Her show is still #1 after nearly a quarter century on the air.

Have her take the train from O'hare through Chicago on the way to Oprah so she can see the real America.

Sarah...if you have learned nothing else from this experience...learn not to listen to the right-wing lunatic fringe. Going on Oprah will guaranteed be the BEST thing that you can do to restore yoru image. No way in heck will Oprah come even close to asking you a tough question...she just does not do that. It will be all about Sarah breaking through a barrier as a woman, being a mother with a special needs kid, how she has been wrongly blamed for the McCain campaign fiasco, etc. When she is finished with Oprah, we will all need a hanky.

I'm betting that Oprah hopes that she doesn't come on her show!!! On the other hand Sarah...quick...get your tus**h over to the Oprah show. Do you think Huckabee, Romney or Jindal would turn down the invite? I think NOT!!! LOL

Actually Oprah always asked the hard questions she just does it with respect and she's not out to embarrass anyone!

Let me tell you...there are McCain/Palin viewers out there that are pissed as you know what at Oprah. No way will she alienate them even more. Not a chance. Given her support of Obama and her track record of her treatment of guests...it will be a fluff piece.

If Sarah Palin doesn't take advantage of this opportunity, then she really is as dumb as the McCain camp is sayining.

2012 has started already, and Palin is not wasting any time to rehabilitate herself . She knows that in order to 'get women to like her' she needs to go on these shows, be charming and adorable, and talk about girlie things ...

Oprah will give her that opportunity, because Oprah wants ratings ..

Palin = big ratings

Big ratings = ad revenue ($$$)

That's why it's called SHOW business.

I don't think Oprah will be too bothered when Palin does not show up.

Oh please: Oprah will ask her 'women's' questions ... How Do you manage that big family and still hold down a big job???? And Palin will laugh and say it's all about 'supportive family' and 'priorities' and blah blah blah ............ softball questions.

Oprah won't ask her any real questions.. it's gonna be about clothes and POOR SARAH got attacked and it wasn't her fault and blah blah blah ...

You don't really think Oprah is going to take her to task about the Palin lies OR ask follow ups when Palin lies/misleads/misrepresents anything, do you?????

I'm a fan of Oprah, but not her show. But she did say that she would not have any candidate on her show AFTER the primaries and the conventions and she didn't, not even Pres-Elect Barack Obama. Palin would be showing her ignorance if she accepted and would deserve whatever she got. Personally, I think it might be interesting.... Palin could not hold her own against O.

Oprah will be in it for ratings, not to grill Palin. It would be a softball 'women's' interview and Palin will have her chance to be charming, not answer questions she doesn't like, and Oprah will be the polite host who will not press her guest on anything...

So .. it'll be a plaform for Palin .... and I've had enough of Palin getting a free ride.

i agree about the softball, "featurey," aspect of a palin appearance. i only catch oprah in about five minute intervals just to see what's she's talking about it on the days i am home at that hour. if palin were to appear, i don't think i'd have the stomach to watch it. i think it would be like trying to watch seinfeld's wife.

I would hope the OPRAH show does one thing if she does ever agree to get that spot light, make her sign a condition to appear without that baby!!!! And leave first dude home to babysit.

Leave that baby at home. No more using those kids, especially the baby as a darn PROP!

That way all the focus could remain clear, to show the total amount of stupidity this woman carries with her at all times!

The election is over so get over it. Unless you truly think she is already campaigning for 2012 she would be on the show in the same way as most other famous guests... or infamous depending on your point of view. In any case, the show could be promoted as an interview with the Palin family. For example, we already know Sarah's political views. I am curious to hear from her pregnant daughter and what she thinks now that there is no need to worry about making an election bruhaha.

She has to trot out the whole family, otherwise she cannot justify all the silk undies and LV purses and $98 pacifiers purchased with - what did she call it - "OPM, other people's money."

I love it when she learns a phrase. She just loved it when she learned to say Adminajab, working it into the conversation a couple of times.

If she was ever interviewed by Olberman or Rachael Maddow, or Chris Matthews, we would know for sure that she doesn't know the difference between a Continent and a Country, basic geography, basic foreign policy, basic domestic policy. ............................................................................

Heck, they may get hit with a medical law suit, because I am sure her brain would lock up and stop functioning all together. We would see a woman with a permanent brain freeze on national TV. LOLOLO!

If Oprah has her on the show she'd better ask real questions and follow ups not just give Palin a platform for 2012.

I am sick of high profile and high influence people suck up to celebreties just for ratings.

In terms of making money and keeping the ratings, and keeping those viewers she might have lost because of her "coming out" with her support of OBAMA, this was a shrewd and savvy business move.

Her appearance on the show will not change two facts:

1) Oprah will still be a staunch OBAMA supporter, and proud of that fact.

2) Sarah Palin will still be as stained as stated by her handlers, a ignoramous, and a Wasilla Hillbilly who is a whack-job, who doesn't know Africa is a continent. In other words, still stupid.
