Palin

Chicago Tribune:

A couple of months ago, there was a media kerfuffle when Oprah Winfrey said she would not have Gov. Sarah Palin on the show during the election.

Now that the election is over, the door is open to the former vice presidential candidate. A representative for Oprah's talk show said that "we have extended an invitation" to the Alaska governor.

I would imagine that sarah's LESS than stellar performance with Katie Couric would give her some type of a clue as to whether she wanted to go up against the "Titan of Talk!"

The Palin family should be on Jerry Springer not Oprah.

Palin is a hog of the limelight. You betcha she will.

There will be all sorts of preconditions and Oprah will probably have to buy new outfits for her whole family, but she won't miss a chance to have a platform.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:39 PM on 11/08/2008

Sure ole sarah will probably try and stick Oprah with a lot pf pre conditions, but since Oprah happens to have ownership of her show...sarah has few, if any, bargaining chips. And should she decide not come on the show due to her pre conditions not being met...I'm certain that will be of little consequence to Oprah!!!!

Everyone responding to this blog is smarter than Palin. A question to Palin supporters: Have you not observed that she is not the sharpest tool in the tool-shed - Do you honestly think she can be the leader of the free world; the most powerful nation? Please get another Republican in 2012 to represent your party. don't shame yourselves.

OMG. Why in the world would P alin do this? Or, I guess the bigger question is, why would ANYONE other than a celebrity hawking a movie or a book do this? Seriously, what kind of people watch Oprah?

Who honestly cares pup? Oprah is a self made millionaire and successful, so plenty of people watch her show.

The kind of people who elected Obama. Two economists proved that the Oprah endorsement was worth a million extra votes in the razor close primary.

You should see some of the backlash from McCain/Palin supporters at oprah.com. They're unhappy about the timing of the Palin invitation, Obama the socialist, Oprah's off-air endorsement of Obama, Oprah's "gloating", Oprah reaching out to the defeated, Oprah having a go out and vote special??!!. It seems that nothing will pacify them. Hopefully time will ease them off the ledge, but if not, I could care less if they keep their promise and stop watching Oprah -- try finding a better champion of women's causes. We in Chicago don't take too kindly to those who speak ill of her.

O prah ain't stupid. She's just going after ratings that result in more money in her pocket. The woman is, and always has been, about money. I don't have a problem with it...it's just why she does what she does. It's not like she is a journalist or someone we expect credibility or leadership from. She is an entertainer. Let her entertain.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:52 PM on 11/08/2008

actually Ogiv is right.... she may be entertaining but she made her following by having a show where she deftly displayed loads of common sense about women's issues, family issues, human issues that people want to have a conversation about, and that millions of women and many men found to be honest, appealing and sensible. the kind of thing many canNot get from their neighbors, friends, sometimes their spouses or at work.

the money started pouring in once the Media empires realized the market share she was getting and the loyalty of her viewership. She became a media empire through her own ingenuity, and hard work.

Her money is pry outrageous to most people, but shes doing and earning a he||uva lot more good, important and helpful work than those Financial CEOs with Golden parachutes marking themselves down for raiding the coffers as they float off the sinking ships.

Henry paulson our current Bush appointed Treas Secretary "earned" $600 million dollars in 7 yrs at GoldmanSachs, and oddly.... they tapped him for bailing out that bottom feeder AIG .....because GS owned a $20 Billion stake in them. And the guy they picked to head all the money laundering is another former GS guy.
its evil. just evil.

Go for it, Oprah. As long as she doesn't jump on the couch, try to find out what Sarah Palin really thinks and believes and knows. Ummmm, but what will you do for the other 40 minutes?

You Betcha.

The woman will definitely be there.

Now if she had an auction via Oprah, she might seriously redeem her image earlier.

You betcha.

If I were to bet....I would bet she would and will eventually. Great ratings (although I wouldn't watch), publicity, keeps her name in the spot light......Sorry America, anything that Sarah Palin does for the next few years is gonna make "news". Love it or hate, right or wrong, we're just that type of society.

Palin does not miss a chance to open her trap.

The woman has no pride and no shame. As Bill Maher said, she doesn't know when she should be embarrassed. Some people mistake that kind of sociopathy for grit. It's not. It's a mental illness.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:38 PM on 11/08/2008

Bill Maher is a fine one to talk about embarrassment. Every time he opens his mouth he spews something unfit for anyone with an IQ over 85.

Please can we just leave her in Alaska. Never have I had such a bad impression of anyone in 2 months. This woman has no redeeming qualities. All we are going to hear from her after is Oprah bashing. If we ignore her will she go away? Please.

Exactly, she is going to bash Oprah afterwards.
