Washington Post:

Lt. Col. Kadhem Jabar Kadhem, a veteran of Saddam Hussein's army, has the swagger of the top cop in the sprawling Dora market, one of Baghdad's most dangerous areas until U.S. soldiers ousted insurgents last year.

"Ever since we came here, we've controlled the security by ourselves," boasted the corpulent, mustachioed national police commander, surrounded by a dozen Iraqi officers in new gray-blue uniforms.

After billions of dollars and years of training, why aren't the Iraqi soldiers ready to take over?

If we spend only six weeks training our soldiers before sending there there to fight , can't the Iraqi's learn after more than 5 years?

What is their problem.

They needed us then, and everyone wanted us to withdraw. They need us now, we should still withdraw.

What will happen if Obama leaves the troops in Iraq to help the Iraqi gov't?

Also, why does everyone say they want to "End the war in Iraq", but as soon as someone says "Win the war in Iraq", they say "It's not a war, it's an occupation"?

well we can spend our money in Iraq or in a couple of months of what that costs we can save the Auto industry and 2 million jobs and the actual 3 trillion it would ultimately cost us if they go under.

In life there are choices. So which one?

Regards

How long does it take to train the Iraqi's to be good soldiers??? In the Viet Nam era, with our country at war, I was trained in 8 weeks of basic training!!! While I did NOT get sent to that war, most in my company did(after 10 weeks more of specialized training!) So, in 18 weeks-4 1/2 months...we sent a trained US soldier to fight in Viet Nam!! GEEZ...this is over 4 friggin years of training...and they still refuse to stand up and fight for themselves!! Time to get out...NOW!!!

Well said - I don't need to repeat what you said - thanks. I am a vet as well - 8 weeks then a few months for specialized training. Even the longest school I went to in the military was only 6 months long! This can only mean we are never leaving and we are there to guard the oil fields we stole. Already Exxon Mobile and Valero are recieving millions of bbls of oil from Iraq. We will continue to pay double for this oil for the next 20 years. We must remind Obama to be sure and not pardon bush and his gang of killers for their crimes and attempt to reverse the damage that has been done.

Get used to this talking point, as it will be used to prolong this theft of their oil.
Democrats will have a much more difficult time fooling people about Iraq than Bush did.

Bush supporters wanted war, blood, death and victory. They got 3 of 4.
Bush wanted oil and profits for our war industry. He got it all.

Obama supporters want war to end in Iraq and Afghanistan, and no new wars in Iran and Pakistan. Sadly, they will go 0 for 4.
Democrats want oil and profits for our war industry. They will have it.

Democrats will have a much more difficult time with the spin and the damage control because their base doesn't want war.
Look for dire warnings of a bloodbath if we leave Iraq, look for spin that tells you it is more compassionate to stay and help than it is to leave. Watch the heated language and insults to Iran to increase.
Be skeptical about and reported Iranian attacks on us as so many have proven to be trumped up or outright deceptions.
Do no be scared, cajoled or lied into any more wars.

If you don't expect very much from someone, they usually deliver that. I happen to believe that the Iraqis will prove to be very competent, especially the security forces, when given more of a leadership role. It may not chime with the Bush/Cheney world view but it will suffice.
