Obamas

Barack and Michelle Obama had their first dinner out since the election. The pool report:

Barack and Michelle Obama left dinner at Spiaggia at 11pm Saturday night after a roughly three hour dinner.

Dressed in a dark suit and white shirt, Obama waved to an ecstatic crowd gathered across the street as he and Michelle rushed through the cold wind.

Michelle, wearing an elegant black knee-length jacket and tall black boots, held her coat closed as she walked to the waiting SUV.

The crowd continued to rejoice, hugging one another and cheering as the motorcade pulled off.
It was the couple's first dinner out together since his election victory, and they selected the same restaurant where they spent their anniversary and Michelle's birthday this year.

Spiaggia is located at 980 N. Michigan Ave.
The motorcade headed through light traffic on Lakeshore Drive to the Obama's home, where it arrived at 11:18pm.

My President and his First Lady! I hope they feel loved, because they are beloved throughout this country (and the world). On Sunday, we prayed for them and for ourselves and there were many tears. The motif of hope, diligent hard work and courage to never quit runs through the black religious experience in America, and now informs the world. We begin together a new day of confidence and positive ambitions for our much battered but still hopeful nation.

What a lovely comment! I haven't heard such a great expression of affection explaining how most of American's feel regarding our new President's win. Thanks for the uplifting in the wake of the new Republican attacks...I wish they would get a grip and start working on themselves instead of deflecting their own problems onto Obama. They will never learn anything if they keep that up, just like children the lot of them!

Wow - Bill Clinton was right: It is like a fairy tale. Compare that to citizens throwing eggs at the bu$h motorcade and I think we have a good picture of the underlying realities, metaphoric or not. It's like waking up from a bad dream.

Because of the Hateful comments made by the McCain/Palin campaign, Secret Service will have to start shutting down the restaurants for this couple to eat out!!

I've been making that same connection since Tuesday at 11:00 EST. This is the best gift. Nothing compares to this in my lifetime, except Kennedy's election when I was four years old. Unfortunately, Kennedy had to tow the cold war line and helped get us into the quagmire of Viet Nam. So even though Kennedy was an inspiration to the country at the time, I'm not sure that he deserves the accolades. This is a different time and Obama is inheriting the worst possible set of circumstances imaginable. Obama is a nimble guy who has demonstrated twice now that he can handle challenges, and on a personal note, might really thrive on them, which works out well for us. If he will continue to tackle issues in the multidimensional way that he has already demonstrated, we just might be adding a head to Mount Rushmore!

I'm so happy, I loved your comment and that's just the way I feel. President-elect Obama will be wonderful for us in the US, but also for the world at large. His support by you, and most of the rest of the world is overwhelming. Thank you!

So it begins.....no privacy for our Presidential Elect couple. It is wonderful that the two were able to get out and have 3 whole hours together! Kudo's to you both. These moments will be far and few between in the next 4 years and I'm sure this thought has crossed their minds. However, with both being so grounded and dedicated to one another and their family....it will be taken in stride and with support. God bless America to watch over them, keeping them safe.

It must be so nice to go out to dinner and not have to worry about parking :)

I sincerely hope they can go out a few more times before he takes office. It seems being President means you can't go out to dinner anymore.

I also worry that his movements are so widely and timely reported. They even gave the address of the restaurant. Hmmm

EricK you can do it. It's the little things that keep us smiling. Also just because gifts are the greatest. It's not about the amount that you spent on the gift, it's the fact that you thought of her enough throughout your day to get her something.

Slip little notes in her pocketbook, or someplace for her to find them.

I promise if you do those things you too shall be rewarded.

My husband has been dead for more than 25 years, but one year I took him home (to the UK) to visit my family. When we were shopping I admired a carved opal in a jewelry shop and, about 3 weeks later, after returning home I found the opal pendant in the bottom of a drinking glass (he had sent my sister to buy it).

Gentlemen/Ladies, be romantic and don't wait for a special day (birthday, anniversary, etc) do something unexpected so show your affection. You won't be sorry - guaranteed.

Try to make yourself a success and your wife might be happy. They got what they craved, power, prestige and fame. Of course shes happy, she will be living in the White House surrounded by that awesome power, thats quite an aphrodiasic for women. Women crave powerful men.

Michelle did not want Barack to run for any office, however, when she thought about the world her girls were growing up in, she was frightened and gave into his call for service. That is the long and short of it! Like someone called to do any great thing, Obama felt that he was the best man for the job when all others were faint at the time our country needed them most! It cannot be that someone of his caliber merely wanted power, prestige or fame, he could have continued to teach, students and universities look up to their faculty a great deal and for some that is just as good, because you influence young minds for the rest of their lives. Being President means that you have a 50/50 chance of being revered and in Bush's case that is a lot more iffy than it used to be. If you have read his book, you would know that Michelle will have to do a lot to feng shai that drafty old place! And women do not crave powerful men, they crave sensitive, intelligent men, who know how to treat them like the queens that we are! To do otherwise means that you do not understand their value on bit...
