Palin

Via The New Republic, another anecdote from Newsweek on Sarah Palin:

The day of the third debate, Palin refused to go onstage with New Hampshire GOP Sen. John Sununu and Jeb Bradley, a New Hampshire congressman running for the Senate, because they were pro-choice and because Bradley opposed drilling in Alaska. The McCain campaign ordered her onstage at the next campaign stop, but she refused to acknowledge the two Republican candidates standing behind her.

While Bradley is reported to be pro-choice, Sununu is not, at least publicly. It's not clear from the Newsweek article whether the misconception was Palin's or that of her aides.

This just keeps getting weirder and weirder.
Who EXACTLY is this woman?

Ask Sean Hannity. He seems to know exactly who she is, yet he fails to know who Obama really is. Pathetic that he still asks the question, "Who exactly is Barack Obama?" He's the president-elect! That's who he is! lol

When Sean Hannity says that I think the correct response is "Your new president."

That the GOP is still seeking to promote this woman - who didn't even know what countries make up North America - as a leader of their party REALLY says it all about how lost they are.

Although the good guy won this time, I'm more afraid than ever by the desperation on the other side. Their determination to bludgeon Americans with christian 'values' is beyond startling - it's disturbing. It may not be violent (yet), but it feels like the roots of the type of theocratic dictatorships that the U.S. used to condemn for oppressing the beliefs and freedom of its citizens.

It should be a no-brainer that someone as intellectually narrow-minded as Sarah Palin would get anywhere near the presidency. But the fact that so many people did - and no doubt still would - vote for her should raise concern. After all, who foresaw a George W Bush getting elected.............twice!

I want them to keep promoting this insane choice. If there is every a reason for higer education, she personifies that and how shallow and ignorant the republican party is.

The fact that she wouldn't go onstage or acknowledge pro-choicers only shows she would stand up for what she believes in, unfortunately for her, she skirted the question when posed to her by Katie Curick.

Way to go Sarah

Governing is all about compromise and meeting with others you don't agree with to find the best workable solutions to the nation's problems.

This doesn't show that Palin "would stand up for what she believes in", as you so naively put it. It only shows she's a petulant religious fanatic with no idea of the bigger picture.

It also shows she neither deserves or is prepared to lead this country. If she has so little respect for members of her OWN party, do you really believe she'd set a place at the table for the rest of us??
Get real.

Wonderful response. But I think that I will no longer read any articles relating to Palin. She's just too stupied.

There's a big problem with your logic. Refusing to even be seen with someone who disagrees with you??!!?? Just proves what everyone has been saying all along. She is not cut out to be a world leader, and Alaska can keep her.

So, refusing to be seen with, or even ackknowledging, someone who disagrees with you on a single issue is an admirable quality?

Welcome to the new minority view.

It's too bad that we don't have a chance to enjoy Palin's election promise of "bipartisanship"--one in which she won't even be seen with members of her own party who have some independent "maverick" inclinations--let alone members of a different party! :-)

Does she really think that refusing to go on stage w/ a pro-lifer is an issue. How would she have handled having to go on stage w/ other world leaders of which her views disagree...like say a Muslim leader??? Would she dismiss a meeting w/ the Dahli Lama because he's a buddist? Oh pleeze, Sarah, get over yourself....you're not that special. And, as I tell my twelve year old "it's not all about you....think globally kid!" This just shows what a political lightweight she really is.

How are we to expect this candidate to cross the isle and work with multiple groups if she can't even extend hand to work with people in her own party.

If the Republicans run with Palin, they will be going for the ultra right extreme position they are in currently, and look what that has done for us. America is not an extremist country, left or right.

You're so right. Maybe we should look to the Democrats as an example of how to treat dissenters within their own party. Take Joe Lieberman and his stance on one issue (the war) that differs from "mainstream" liberal thought. On account of his believes on this one issue, he has been publicly ostracized and threatened with the loss of his Senate Committee leadership positions.

I'm not saying what she did was Diplomatic or even right, but the Dems aren't exactly setting the bar very high.

Agreed. Even the negative attention she's getting is still attention, and thus more than she deserves. If we ignore her, her momentum for 2012 will be dampened significantly.

ABSOLUTELY!
What the LDS church did this election should absolutely be grounds for losing tax exempt status. What do you think the property tax on that 'temple' would be?

Ms. Palin's actions in dismissing other Republicans because they were not "kosher" in her own distorted personal view clearly manifests what type of party she represents. She may have the approval of 80% of her party, but she will be the candidate of anger, resentment, separation, regionalism, anti intellectualism and personal animis.

Is she not the perfect foil to Barack Obama?

She is demonstrating that her religion has little to do with Jesus and God. God loves all his children, and Jesus never turned his back on anyone. We are all one created by the one God. When your mind is closed, your heart is, too. I'm so grateful this woman never made it to Washington.

Palin will NOT change by 2012.....Like most Right-Wing Republicans and total BUSH supporters, she has her OWN personal agenda tainted by her narrow religious views of the world and she does not listen. She has learned absolutely nothing from her LOSS on Tuesday. She will not work with the other side, poltiicans from her OWN party becasue she disagreed with them about abortion. She is closed minded and is left over from the Middle AGES. I now believe in Witches and she is the biggest one!!!

Palin, Hucabee two of the names being tossed around as the Second coming of the Republican Party?
What have they not yet learned? The Even. voting base is diminishing. Young Evens. are no longer single issue voters. Their World view is expanded past hate, separation and No Choice advocacy.

Palin is a self serving ideologue, her ignorance far surpasses the lack of common Geographical and Historical knowledge. Simply put, she does not know what she does not know.

If the Republican Party stands a chance at reviving themselves for future elections, they need to look past the far right and back to a centrist position of inclusion, a Chuck Hagel comes to mind. Mr. Hagel however has done a terrific job of distancing himself from the current GOP and I would not be suprised to see him in the Obama Cabinet.

As a Dem, I am quite happy to consider a Palin/Huckabee ticket, it will certainly guarantee a second term for Obama/Biden.
