Rush Limbaugh

An article in Sunday's Los Angeles Times takes a look at how the right-wing media is responding to Obama's victory last week. Already, it seems, the likes of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity have started to rile up their listeners/viewers by going after Obama. The relationship of Fox News and the Obama administration will be particularly interesting to watch, given that Fox News was cut out of the questioning at the first Obama press conference. As for Obama's harshest critics among fellow politicians, the New York TImes reported yesterday on how many of them have, for various reasons, rushed to praise him.

From the LA Times:

Opening his first post-election rant against the president-elect, Limbaugh launched in with a certain relish. "The game," he told his radio listeners, "has begun."

Sean Hannity, on the other hand, insisted on feigning a post-election detente, telling his Fox News television audience last week, "I want Barack Obama to succeed."

Didn't he think anyone would notice that, just a moment later, he was back parroting the failed campaign argument that Obama is a "mystery"?

"I fear [this] is the guy that has these radical associations 20 years ago," Hannity added, an odd way of demonstrating support for the new commander in chief.

Well, if it is largely confined to Rush and Hannity, who cares? These guys are cheerleaders for the uber freaks on the ultra-right and few others listen to them.

The election at least taught us that.

The GOP wonders why they need to regroup. These idiots are the face of the GOP. Hate and Fear.
It's really sickening. Yet, these guys (and Coulter) are part of the group trying to determine the new direction of the GOP. Wow. If that's not twisted, I don't know what is. They sure aren't going to fire themselves as the mouth of the GOP.

The GOP needs to distance themselves from this kind of hatred.

If, in fact, it's Hate they're feeding rather than simply healthy dissent, we know where to start looking if ANYTHING untoward happens to Barack Obama don't we?

I find it hard to believe that someone would pay the "GREAT DEVIDER" (Limbaugh) 400mil to do what he does. I see no difference when Iranian influence works to keep Iraq in termoil while persuing their own ambitions. Domestic terrorism come in differance shapes and sizes, I been listening to Limbaugh for about twenty yrs. and I don't recall many occasions of Rush speaking on uniting our country even through out the war on terror He's been able to find uncommon ground and exploit it. How ever I can not support any efforts to infrenge on Mr. Limbaughs RIGHT to freedom of speech, but I think we can be hones about WHO he is or WHAT he does.

Not to be trusted ever again:

Palin
McCain
Hannity
Limbaugh
O'Reilly

If it smells like a Republican, acts like a Republican, and spews lies like a Republican, then they are Republicans. No forgiveness. No quarter.

Off the list of viable humans, too. Sorry. They proved they're not worthy.

My ONLY local Talk Station is Hard-Right Republican and carries all the "usual suspects", Rush, Sean, Laura, etc. Hannity was on night before last and had two 'pundits', both actually reasonable, and they were all talking about how bipartisan the Congress must learn to become if anything was to get done.

Well, wouldn't you know it? Hannity was the biggest proponent for blatant Partisanship, refusing to admit that working together was an absolute necessity! Of course, without partisanship Hannity and Rush are DEAD, as well as the rest of the RightWing HotHeads, IMHO. Thank God and good riddance! Especially if someone at the RNC suggests that HateRadio was partly responsible for the RedTeam's defeat!

I truly believe that most Americans have grown tired of Hate Radio and we might get to see some major improvement in the near future.

I find Limburger so repulsive that the act of reading about him nearly sends me to into violent spastic heaves, yet I know there are those who dial into his airwaves to get their daily fix of defibrillation. His audience feeds like a flock of starving starlings; never getting enough to satisfy and then, in a frenzied state, hurl themselves at one another. They can not understand the rant on which they feed, is toxic to themselves and those they profess to love.

Peggyleg....."We liberals' as you refer to us are not intimidated by Rush...We simply can't understand why he is the least bit attractive to anyone.

He doesn't give a whit whether he is accurate or not. He lives by the premise" Throw enough poop against the wall and something will stick".

There may be something positive about these clowns having such a loud voice. It keeps the Republicans grounded exactly where they belong, in the past. .

These right wing talk show people are anachronisms. I think they will no longer be part of the so called base of the Repub Party, but the extreme fringe, along with the skinheads and that ilk.

If right wing propagandists can come up with one positive policy proposal I am listening. The reason Republicans lost the election is the hard right evangelical movement has lead this country to disaster. And now all they can do is spew more hate. Get real guys, our country is in real trouble and I want positive change, not more of the same.

All of Fox News should take a long overdue vacation.

The real problem for Rush and Hannity is that it is obvious that they have not re-grouped yet after last Tuesday's election. They're rehashing the same tired lines, and my particular favorite is that we "don't really know" Obama. My father in law gave me the same argument. Truthfully, it is tired and lame. We can only hope that the Obama administration will use pragmatic, cautious strategy and find success in their efforts, as this would really give the blowhards a struggle for their own job security. Maybe then they can know the struggle that the rest of us, the ones hanging on to what is left of the middle class, encounter on a daily basis. Let us wait and see, and let these airbags continue with their somewhat silly diatribes that consist of nothing more than the remnants of an ideology gone awry. Let us do the work that will set the foundation for future success, and let them continue spewing nothing but sour grapes.
