Alfred Eisenstaed WWII picture to be reunited with US navy veterans

Edith Shain, 90, from Los Angeles, is believed to be the woman who was snapped by a Life magazine photographer being kissed by a sailor in Times Square as Americans celebrated VJ Day in August 1945.

She will serve as grand marshal of New York's Veterans Day parade, riding at the head of a contingent of Second World War servicemen.

Miss Shain, who earlier recreated her famous clinch with members of the Broadway cast of the musical South Pacific, has always said she was the woman in the photograph.
