After Carlson mentioned that "Today" show co-host (and one-time divorcee) Matt Lauer will be interviewing Palin Tuesday, Matthews saw the opportunity to mention...NBC budgeting?

"Yeah, well, you know that phrase — where is Matt Lauer? Where in the world is Matt Lauer? He's with Governor Palin up in Alaska! And they've got a limited budget at the 'Today' show these days, and they're spending on her. That tells you something."
