I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Matt Lauer's marital history sent the "Today" show host and his co-host Meredith Vieira into a fit of laughter Monday morning.

Intro-ing a segment on the "right age to get married," Vieira said, "I got married in my 30s, when did you get married?"

Lauer — who married TV producer Nancy Alspaugh when in his mid-20s, only to get divorced seven years later — stuttered, fumbled, and then laughed, as an embarrassed Vieira burst into laughter and producers shouted, "Nice!"

Lauer's marriage to Annette Roque, the Dutch model, has also been peppered with problems. The pair separated in 2006 and subsequently reconciled.

Wow! If you ever needed proof that the Today Show has become increasingly more irrelevant, here it is. Her slip up was fine and human but at the end of the day who cares about this show anymore?

Celebrity status has its drawbacks and ego is always a problem-High expectations often clash with reality or more poetically-Love is blind but marriage is the eye opener. Here is a field where it literally is every man and woman for themselves!

Don't get it.

In fact I don't get the whole Meredith and Matt thing. Could be a lot better.

Guys are late bloomers-- should never marry in their mid-twenties..... try 30 and up- for better results-- I know- I raised three grown sons-- only the one that married at 23 got divorced-- the others were in their 30's and they are in thriving marriages.........

Men shouldn't even think about marrying and kids until at least 35, but 40 is better. It should be the law, and the wife they get shouldn't be less than 10 to 12 yrs younger never older.

It should be the law.

sounds like fascism to the fullest.
We are int he process of getting RID of a fascist government.
Please - don't bring it back so quickly.

By the way, why can't the woman be older? I'm 7 years older than my husband and it works just find for us.

Funny. I got married at 23 and I'm still married to the same woman 16 years later.

Then again, my former brother-in-law also got married at 23 and dumped my sister for another woman.

Oh well.

I married at just under 22 and am still married to that same woman 38 years later. I agree, however, that EVERYONE should wait AT LEAST until mid to late twenties to marry and 28-30 for the first child.

What's the big deal? The answer was the age of the first marriage. Simple.

I don't get it. When did you get married is supposed to be off bounds to someone who has been divorced? With a divorce rate of 50%? So much for the sanctity of marriage. More like the sanctity of divorce!

Was she laughing that he got divorced or that he couldn't remember when he got married to the woman he divorced or divorced him?
