NEW YORK — Democratic officials say President-elect Obama's transition aides have approached Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's former campaign manager about taking a senior White House post.

These officials say Patti Solis Doyle is considering taking the job, although she worries about the effect it would have on her two young children. She was contacted about possibly becoming Cabinet secretary, a job that involves coordinating the efforts of the White House and cabinet-level agencies.

The officials who described the developments did so on condition of anonymity, saying they were not authorized to disclose them.

Doyle has worked for Clinton in a number of capacities, first in the White House and most recently when she made her bid for the Democratic presidential nomination.

If this is a 'trial balloon" do I get to vote no on this woman? I recognized the name immediately for being someone who was fired for watching Soap Opera's and then picked up by the Obama's. I think she is going to have to do a great deal of image work for me to get past what I heard of her after the Hill failure. NO please. Is there no one in DC that hasn't worked for the Clinton's that is available. Might as well have voted for Clinton herself then we would have had the real thing. Or not

Obama will soon lose the banner of Change and the capacity to implement it , if he keeps warming over the Clinton years. Clinton brought in new people. Why can't Obama do it?

Can we get some new people up in this administration please? I am tired of seeing all the usual suspects.

I feel what you are saying but since Obama's judgment has been spot on so far, I think he has earned our trust. We should let him and his people pick whom ever he thinks he needs! A mixture of the old and the new will probably work not to mention be politically prudent!

Way to go. Let's hire the person at least partially responsible for one of the worst run campaigns in modern political history.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:35 PM on 11/10/2008

Right, that horrible campaign that garnered 18 million votes and ended in a near tie. Hillary finished closer to the nomination than any second place finisher in history. Losing an election doesn't automatically mean you had the worst run campaign in history.

Hillary started out with more advantages than any presidential candidate in history. A huge national poltical machine, a hand-picked "dream team" staff, a huge amount of money, and a former president campaigning full time for her in a Democratic primary, and the mantel of change as the first viable female candidate for president.. But she adopted Rove-style dishonest, mean, divisive tactics, showed horrible judgment and leadership and LOST.

Obama, a comparative political novice on the national stage, on the strength of his character, ideas, vision, intelligence, good judgment and charisma, took the high road in politics and defeated both the Clintons and the GOP.

Al Gore won the popular vote for president in 2000., unfortunately, and history testifies to that. Hillary won 18 million votes in a primary campaign and finished second in 2008, and OBAMA went on to be the greatest president in American history. Than goodness Hillary lost.

Yeah, I sure hope they have a TV in her office. You know Patti Solis Doyle cannot miss her soaps. I hope she has voice mail as well, considering she never answered phone calls from top donors when running Hillary's campaign.

What the hell is Obama thinking? This woman is a total incompetent. Check out the Josh Green article in the Atlantic about her. Do they think we are stupid?

Patti Solis Doyle carried out policy in the Clinton campaign, she didn't make it. Just because one worked for a campaign that lost doesn't mean one is incompetent!

Doyle was Hillary's campaign manager. She agreed to and implemented a lot of dirty work, and she managed badly. She spent 15 years or more with HIllary and shares that paranoi, us and them, politics as war mindset.

Obama has the right to appoint anyone he chooses, and a great stock of goodwill to draw on. But giving the nation people like Doyle as evidence of his commitment to CHANGE is a good way to begin eroding that good will and confidence. Of all the people in the world, Doyle is someone Obama would choose as a first appointment? very discouraging, if true.

Nonsense... It is shrewd. Patty Solis Doyle is a loyal Clintonite because varsity talent is drawn to championship organizations. The Clintons have been relegated. Team Obama is now the varsity squad. She has the chops to contribute, and her addition represents a subtraction in the overall scheme of things. Obama is a cherry-picker, and this is a smart get.

or a lapse in good judgment because it erodes confidence in his change agenda. He has alot of capital, but this appointment would diminish it. You don't get too many questionable appointments before public doubt creeps in. I hope her appointment will prove worth what it costs.

Whether this is the correct choice is still in question. I do think Obama needs much stronger representation by females in his White House. It appears very male dominated thus far. Say it isn't so!

WRONG... Team Hillary had everything it needed to win except a charismatic candidate. Her staff dissolved for want of a viable personality, not for want of top-flight talent. This is a good get.

Doyle worked for Hillary for 15 years She is of the politics as war mindset, and embraced and orchestrated, badly, a Rove-style campaign. Rahm Emanuel is also a Clinton trained, partisan, us and them, warrior. How much of that perspective and experience does Obama need to tap? We need some eviidence that he is moving forward, not backward.

Go to this website
http://change.gov/

and write to Barack Obama to make Hillary Clinton the Secretary of State and Health.
She would do well in those positions. Health Insurance of everyone was dear to her and she has travelled the world and knows the leaders. On the website above you can write your comments to the
those in charge of transition.

She needs to stay in the senate.
I'm sure she will again in 8 years.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:55 PM on 11/10/2008

In 8 years, the younger generation will be saying "Hillary who?". Also, she'll probably be a foot wider which will make her look 6" shorter. Hey girls, I know it's probably not fair, but Hillary at 69 just isn't going to cut it.

Her only "slight" chance will be if events put Obama somewhere in Bush's job rating and Obama pulled the plug like LBJ did in '64.

In eight years she'll be the age McCain is now (or close to it). She might make a good SCOTUS nominee though. Then again, conservatives would hate it big time! But then that's a sound reason why she should be considered.

Dump her. If she was so great and smart and ORGANIZED why couldn't she manage Hillary's campaign better? (name recognition, millions of dollars, tons of support) Why did she underestimate Obama from the beginning? Why did she pull a Benedect Arnold on Hillary and announce that Biden and not Hillary was the VP running mate?

She does not represent the Hispanic arm of the Democratic Party, she's just a younger sister to a Chicago Alderman, Daniel Solis.

Well, Here we are at political payback time. Even Claire McCaskill is being considered even after this statement on TV.
"Senator Claire McCaskill (D) Missouri, elected for the first time to the United States Senate in November 2006, explained why she was supporting Senator Barack Obama to be President of the United States. These are her words. “It was a little nudging from my 18 year old Daughter.” “It was Maddie in my face.” “She, (Maddie), said, ‘How can you look yourself in the mirror, you’re a slug, you’re playing it politically safe, I believe in this guy, I’ll never speak to you again if you don’t stand up and have some courage.’ “ “It was pretty intense, she was right, it was like a cold bucket of water on my head, she was absolutely right.”
Claire McCaskill admits it was her 18 yr old daughter who pushed her to support Senator Barack Obama.
Maybe Obama should put Maddie in his Cabinet instead of Claire. According to Claire, she's the smart one in the family and I agree based on the above statement.

Caroline Kennedy said her children drew her attention to Obama as well. A lot of politicians took their lead from the younger, even youngest generation. McCaskill worked with Obama on the Walter Reed fiasco, which is where she saw his true talent and began wholeheartedly supporting his presidential run. Obama is unlikely to ignore her loyalty.

With all these Clinton cronies popping up as potential members of the Obama Administration I guess we are beginning to see Clinton's price tag for her support.

Huh.... have you been out of the loop? Let's at least get our facts straight.

Hillary Clinton fired Patti Solis Doyle from her campaign. If anything, her hiring by Obama was a slap to Hillary. Obama picked Doyle because of her skills, not as a payback to the Clintons.

In fact the hiring of Patti Solis Doyle was a slap in the face because it indicated that Hillary would not be considered for VP. Hillary had fired her.
