Obama Transition Team Courts Clinton Aide Doyle

NEW YORK — Democratic officials say President-elect Obama's transition aides have approached Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's former campaign manager about taking a senior White House post.

These officials say Patti Solis Doyle is considering taking the job, although she worries about the effect it would have on her two young children. She was contacted about possibly becoming Cabinet secretary, a job that involves coordinating the efforts of the White House and cabinet-level agencies.

The officials who described the developments did so on condition of anonymity, saying they were not authorized to disclose them.

Doyle has worked for Clinton in a number of capacities, first in the White House and most recently when she made her bid for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Have you heard much about her since she took her job with Obama campaign? Nope. And that is a good thing. She came in, kept her head down, and evidently did her job so well that Obama wants to keep her on.

I'm thinking that the stuff we heard about her during her stint with Hillary was more about that campaign than about her talents.

I think the article should have made it very clear that Patti was fired by the Clinton campaign and was picked up by the Obama camp before he got the nomination. After that she managed Biden's VP campaigning.
Someone reading the article as it stands could easily get the impression that she was partially responsible for the train wreck Hillary's campaign became as it went along. In fact, the slide began with her being fired.

Some of us have great memories. And Solis-Doyle was actually dismissed as part of a Hillary campaign shake up after Super Tuesday. Hillary's campaign was going bad before Solis-Doyle was fired. Some of the blame was put on her.

And some thought she was a scape goat for a bad campaign strategy developed by Mark Penn.... who didn't think caucuses were important.

Actually the slide was there from the start. It was not the fault of Patti Solis Doyle, she just couldn't stop it. It continued after she left.It stemmed from the cronyism of the Clinton's, basically and the way Hillary makes decisions.

If I'm running an administration, do I really want someone who discloses secrets they are "not authorized to disclose"? I mean, even if it's anonymous, you're still violating a trust -- not authorized, to me, means not authorized under any circumstances.

I understand the value of a strategic leak, but this seems to be someone who's running their mouth when they're not supposed to.

That could be the case, or this could be testing the waters to see how she would be taken.

It could also be her people angling for the job, in which case it's not really a leak at all.

She's been vetted, has earned a position after being picked up by the Obama camp during the primaries, appears to be smart and well organized (read some articles about her) I believe she would be a great choice. The one thing I admire about her is that after she was ousted, fired, whatever you want to call it from Hillary's campaign, she was very professional and didn't get into the blame and smear game. That's hard to find in Washington, DC!

Intresting pick but it doesn't suprise me since she was already on Obama's staff during the election as Chief of staff for the Joe Biden. She useto work for Hillary, but they had a falling out per this article:

So if she was able to manage Biden..well maybe she isn't so bad...just keep her away from the money aspect of things.

This article fails to mention that Solis Doyle was a part of Obama's campaign. She's going to get a position with the administration if she wants one.
