CNN:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Sunday he's still trying to keep Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman within the Democratic caucus despite anger over Lieberman's support of Republican presidential nominee John McCain.

While he has opposed Democratic efforts to end the war in Iraq, "Joe Lieberman votes with me a lot more than a lot of my senators," Reid told CNN's "Late Edition."

"Joe Lieberman is not some right-wing nutcase," he said. "Joe Lieberman is one of the most progressive people ever to come from the state of Connecticut."

Homeland Security needs to be completely redone!

Lieberman is not the ONE to TRUST WITH THAT!

Simply tell Lieberman "You are going to have to EARN your way back into a chairmanship."

Lieberman can earn his way back by voting for Obama's programs - one by one by one!

Lieberman, Reid, and Pelosi ALL have to go! All three are traitors to their country!

Well, Harry Reid, the best I can say about you is that you are consistent and predictable.

We knew you might pretend to bluff and bluster in your quiet timid way about Lieberman being a traitor, but as usual, in the final analysis, you (and Pelosi) would yet again wimp out and let us down.

Have you seen the Rasmussen Report survey. Fifty-five percent of American voters say Congress is doing a poor job. Thirty percent of Democrats do not know who Harry Reid is. Nineteen percent of Democrats say Congress is doing a good job. Congress has consistently scored lower this year in voter approval than even President Bush. Yet, they got reelected and expanded their numbers in both the House and the Senate.

We like the Democratic ideals, just not the actual Democrats in congress. Almost exactly half of all Dems in office behave like Repbulicans, or Republican-Lite, if you will.

Where the battles are NOW are in THE PRIMARIES. We have to keep putting highly qualified PROGRESSIVES up to run against the DINOs (Democrats In Name Only).

Well Reid, he may not be a "right-wing nutcase" but he is still a nutcase nonetheless. He should be stripped of his chairmanship and if you fail to strip him of that position, you need to have YOUR position stripped from you. There are MANY Democratic Senators who actually DO have spines, Senators Feingold, Schumer, Clinton to name just a few.

From the Dail Kos: Keep ones enemies closer????
This seems to be routinely overlooked, but take a moment to consider what the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs actually does: it's the committee principally responsible for oversight of the executive branch. It's an accountability committee, charged with investigating the conduct of the White House and the president's administration.

As chairman of this committee for the last two years, Lieberman decided not to pursue any accusations of wrongdoing against the Bush administration. Lieberman's House counterpart -- Rep. Henry Waxman's Oversight Committee -- was a vigilant watchdog, holding hearings, issuing subpoenas, and launching multiple investigations. Lieberman preferred to let his committee do no real work at all. It was arguably the most pathetic display of this Congress.

And yet, now Lieberman acts as if keeping this chairmanship is the single most important part of his public life. Why would he be so desperate to keep the gavel of a committee he hasn't used? I'll let you in on a secret: he wants to start using the power of this committee against Obama.

Lieberman didn't want to hold Bush accountable, but he seems exceedingly anxious to keep the committee that would go after Obama with a vengeance, effectively becoming a Waxman-like figure -- holding hearings, issuing subpoenas, and launching investigations against the Democratic president.

Lieberman doesn't care about "reconciliation," he cares about going after a Democratic administration. Why else would he fight diligently to be chairman of one committee instead of

Well people, Joe stabbed Obama in the back, betrayed his party, but he's still a good ol' boy!

Not so much a climb down by Reid more of a jump!

Lieberman's fate will go to a vote in the Democratic caucus.

CALL OR WRITE YOUR SENATORS.

Reid should be ousted as Senate leader. Unable to discipline someone who appears as a speaker at the Republican Convention, serves as permanent attendant to McCain and aggressively campaigns against Obama ?? What is wrong with Reid ? I just thought, like Pelosi, that he was spineless. This is beyond spineless.

Reid and Lieberman are personal friends. Reid credits L's vote with gaining him the Leader position. Pressure must be brought to bear.

Oh? He's not? you could have fooled me. Even if he stays in the Democratic caucus, that's no guarantee he'll vote democratic. He's an opportunistic turncoat.
