As his presidency nears its end, a reflective President Bush suggested Tuesday he regrets some of his more blunt statements on the war on terror over the last eight years.

"I regret saying some things I shouldn't have said," Bush told CNN's Heidi Collins Twhen asked to reflect on his regrets over his two terms as president. "Like 'Dead or Alive' and 'Bring 'em on.' My wife reminded me that, hey, as president of the United States be careful what you say."

Word is that Bush left the banner in the bottom right drawer of his desk, so Obama can find it when he needs it....... Assuming he accomplishes anything. But four years is a long time, anything can happen.

Then that means ending the shoulda, woulda, coulda talk and mindless rehashing of days gone by...if it's a new day, that means, like when Bush took office, the end of Clinton bashing started immediately...all that was to transpire henceforth was his responsibility...when Obama takes office on January 20, 2009, any action from then on will be something he will be blamed or credited with. NO ONE ELSE.

After Obama won his race decisively, Bush started appearing much more often in public.

At one event, a couple of days ago, he was weeping.

Yesterday, greeting the Obamas at the White House, he was, according to one veteran reporter, more gracious than any other outgoing President to the one who was incoming.

Today, he's humble about his mistakes.

Tomorrow, no doubt, he'll be flying to Calcutta to wipe the poopy bottoms of orphaned babies with HIV.

Does anyone else think that George W Bush is putting on a last ditch charm offensive to persuade the public that his wide array of criminal acts, including international war crimes, should be forgiven?

General Public: "He's so teary, nice, humble, and Mother Theresa-like. Why bother looking backwards? We are a nation that looks ahead."

Once again, the press will completely buy into this charade, and Bush/Cheney and corporate cronies will quietly recede out of the public eye to enjoy the accumulated wealth they have stolen from taxpayers while the media was asleep on the job.

G.W. Bush will go down in history as a great American president. Mark my words.

Bush is trying to do penance...a little late, but I think he realizes, again belatedly, that his legacy is shot to he--, and he has cost his party years of damage control and some time before they can get their act together...but then again, look what happened to Clinton, Kennedy, LBJ and Truman...all went in with high hopes, only to become either shamed or tremendously unpopular. The Dems track record ain't too good.

Given the bloodshed Bush has caused there is no redemption for him. He is a war criminal.

I'm waiting for the apology that he owes us that says, "I'm sorry for being an incompetant president".

Rachel Maddow's very funny contributor, Kent Jones, just put up a shot of the cover of a mock Bush memoir featuring Junior in a What-Me-Worry pose and this nonpareil title:

"My Bad - An Apology To The Planet"

Who cares?

How often do you find him annoying? Five nights a week?

Stop watching.

... and practice focusing on the substance of a comment.

In my opinion, there are many mistakes of utmost gravity that President Bush may want to regret such as Guantanamo, Abu Graib, losing the focus on Afghanistan, invading the wrong country, Patriot Act, misdirected tax cuts -the list is too long.

Remember that the expertly produced "Mission Accomplished" banner was made below deck by a few untrained sailors and a can of spray paint.

Not so, guy. That "the sailors made the sign all on their own" story was put out by the White House, attempting to rewrite history (again).

I just watched this interview and as usual, my mouth dropped when the CNN "reporter" didn't say, "excuse me Mr. President, it wasn't just a sign that said Mission Accomplished, those were the words you uttered on that day."

Instead, she just sat their, typically clueless about the facts and more concerned about her hair and makeup. As Keith Olbermann reminds us every night, it was on that day George W. Bush declared "Mission Accomplished." Bush is so delusional he's convinced himself 1) he never uttered the words "Mission Accomplished" or 2) he truly believes the sign said it out loud and not him.

In either case, it's a clear case of Rovies. The symptoms include serious memory lapses and just making stuff up.

Bush is right about one phrase that actually rang true on November 4th:
"Mission Accomplished."

Does Bush not regret the war that he led us into - with falsified data and lies?
He just doesn't get it.
