NBC Political Director and on-air analyst Chuck Todd and his colleague, the polling expert Sheldon Gawiser, are rushing to put together How Obama Won, a state-by-state guide to President-elect Barack Obama's victory that will be published as a paperback original through Knopf's Vintage imprint sometime before the inauguration in January.

According to editor Errol McDonald, who approached Mr. Todd with the idea about a month before the election, the book will be divided into four sections: Battleground states, emerging battleground states, receding battleground states, and all the rest. Mr. McDonald said the book will come with an introduction by Mr. McDonald and Mr. Gawiser (who is NBC's Elections Director) and an appendix that will "give very surprising facts based on the data."

I will not be buying this book. I know how Obama won. All of us who are sick and tired of Bush and the Republicans decided that it is time for an intelligent and reasonable man to become President. All the behind the scenes strategizing, web intelligence, marketing, donations etc are all details that will bore me to tears. Yes, we were way overdue for a decent leader and fortunately we picked one. I don't need any pundit to explain to me how that happened.

Read the excerpts by Timothy Stelly on www.useless-knowledge.com and you will get a great version of the same for free. He is doing it in four excepts and is a great read. Parts one and two are currently online.

Chuck Todd just said: Cha-Ching!!!

(Translation: it's time to get paid)

Chuck was one of the best commentators this whole campaign season, he always had the math right - even when Hillary and McCain didn't wanna accept it. I'll be buying this book whenever it comes out!

For a nut and bolts take on the election... Chuck's book will be hard to beat. I look forward to it.

I agree with the many others here, would rather read a Richard Wolffe book on the Obama campaign.

I think he looks like the character David Brent that Ricky Gervais played in the original The Office.

YES!!!

I thought Russ asked some bonehead questions at the debates, and made the debaters do party stunts. I was glad to see others take up the task, although few did the job without making an ass out of somebody, themselves first of all. I can only imagine it's some balancing act, one of the hardest jobs in television.

count me in too....Tim would have loved this year's election...I miss his brilliance.

It struck me on election night, how much Tim Russert would have been enjoying it, especially the scenes from Grant Park.

He would have also been a great debate host, especially the VP debate when Sarah Palin said she wasn't going to answer their questions.

I missed Tim Russert so much on Election Night. I could just hear him saying after Obama took Ohio, "This is big!" and, upon watching the scene in Grant Park, "What a country!"

LOl... Chuck Todd that is one clueless man...but I guess he sees a dollar to be made.

Chuck Todd is an awful reporter!

It is clear that Todd is a good reporter. Even people posting on this site can't tell whether he is Pub or Dem. I don't know either, but I do know that he is smart. This book will be on statistics, not a social comment.

republicans better buy this book and try to learn from a winner or they will be in the wilderness until 2024.

I can see Richard Wolfe writing an Obama book, since he was covering him for 2 years, but Todd? How often did he even leave the studio? It must be a very poindexter numbers book, I guess. But Nate Silver could write that, too. I don't know what special insight Todd has, except his growing name recognition in the political world.

Well ........ I think I'll write a book, too!!! Really, Chuck - you're a closet repugnican (his wife worked for the McCain campaign!!!) who is trying to capitalize off Barack's winning ... We don't need you to write a book explaining how he did it!

actually his wife worked on the OBAMA campaign during the primary and before that she worked on Jim Webb's senatorial campaign

/sigh.

Do you people even bother to verify your "facts"? Or do you just believe what someone posted on a blog?

His wife, Kristian Denny-Todd is a Democrat, who runs a media firm that caters to Democrats, and she donated to the Virginia Democratic Party in 2007.

That explains it. He most definitely seemed like an Obama supporter, like everyone on MSNBC. He certainly liked putting Hillary down like every other white male on that horrendous network.
