Dean, Thorpe As Health Care Contenders

While some are coy about their prospects in the new Obama administration, health care expert Ken Thorpe is straightforward. "I'm happy to help inside or outside," he says.

A veteran of the Clinton administration's health care fight, Thorpe is often mentioned as a contender to head Medicare and Medicaid or the Food and Drug Administration. One of the most well-respected voices in Washington, Thorpe has worked with insurers, unions and Democratic and Republican senators on health care reform. And, perhaps most importantly, he's been assisting Obama's transition team on health care.

I think we need someone who isn't "experienced" with "helping health insurance companies", so he'd be great, so far as I'm aware, at anything related to healthcare, ESPECIALLY helping implement "Universal Health Care."

Note that the ONLY Universal Health Care is SINGLE PAYER. Anything else is probably "Universal Health Insurance" where the insurance part still doesn't equate to CARE.

Howard Dean would an excellent choice for this position in President-elect Obama's cabinet. First and foremost he's a physician. Secondly, he's a resourceful and innovative person. Thirdly, he's an outsider to the health insurance industry.

I don't believe Dean's 50 state strategy included AZ D-2 except to ask for volunteers.
