Lindsay Lohan is happy Barack Obama got elected after campaigning for him this year. But, she referred to the President-Elect with a mumbled adjective at the beginning of an interview with Access Hollywood's Maria Menounos that some say is offensive. Does she say "good" or "colored?"

"It's an amazing feeling. It's our first [mumble] president."

Perez
and Defamer think she said "colored."

oh she definitely said colored! It was very mumbled. I had to listen a few times, and I don't think she meant anything derogatory. Let's not nit pick!

I can't tell what she said at all. Sounds almost like "cloden".

I'm not LiLo defender, but regardless, Lindsay is in her 20s, not her 80s, so probably lacks the knowledge of the historical context of that word. So I doubt she would be using the word "colored" in that context.

If you find that hard to believe, I met a 21 year old man the other day that worked in an automotive store who, after I had joked that I burned out my Flux Capacitor, looked at me puzzled. I then found out that he had never seen or heard of Back to the Future or a Flux Capacitor.

You'd be surprised what stuff kids these days are ignorant of.

And even if she did say it, she was probably thinking "person of color", another ungainly phrase that still contains the word "color" to describe someone of non white ethnicity, so I dont; think we should all get in a tizzy about this one.

Lindsey is defiantly not he brightest light in the parking lot.

Terms like “coloureds”, “blacks”, “whites” are all political and social constructs trying to group together a diverse group of people. It has racial origin as it is based on differentiating people in terms of the colour of their skin.

Do you know the story of a man that decided: from now on, there are no blacks neither whites.

We’ll all be blues.

Soon after the decision, a blue bigot appeared and say: "ok, whiter blues to this side, and darker blues to that side."

Who cares there will always be one ignorant person or another. Then again we know Lindsey did not grow up in South Africa where some people of mixed- ethnicity are called "coloureds"

She seems peculiar in her mannerisms. Not relaxed. A little shifty. I don't think she is on drugs or anything but she just seems fishy. Out of her element when truly she should relax and be in her element by now. After all these years in the business that is. Maybe she knew that the word "colored" is offensive in some way and she did it for shock value. That is what I believe. Though I don't know why some words evolve from acceptable to unacceptable. How is it that now it is a negative and in the 70s it was perfectly fine. I guess that is the nature of language. But in closing it could be just that she is very young and her sensibility isn't there. She might be a little spun also from Hollywood to boot.

She's experiencing a lot of publicity over her relationship with Ronson; her father's public comments (criticizing Ronson as well as Lohan's choice); her stance against Prop 8, and the state of her career, so she's a bit defensive and clumsy with her comments lately.

She looks so OLD to be so young. It is really sad that she has abused her body so badly. If the eyes are the window to the soul, Lindsey's eyes reveals a great deal of pain and abuse.

this is absolutely an example of media fishing for a story. Smack the bees nest of racial issues, make the saps angry, and watch the ratings pour in. this is a non story. and if your offended, look up the moniker for NAACP.

I had to play, replay, and play again because I can't imagine someone so young using that terminology because she isn't part of a generation that would use that word. Wow! Well, I'm just gonna say, she didn't mean it in a negative way. I have to take the high road on this. She worked in his behalf, and with her being bi-sexual having racial prejudice is a conflict of interest. Please let it go!

It does not matter what she said. It matters what she meant.
And she meant black or African -American, or person of color, or whatever. Really, these slight semantic distinctions are irrelevant and pointless.

It amazes me that people are still so stuck in their own world and unaware of the offensive superior comments that fall out of their mouths. Unfortunately, it goes on all day long in Southeast Texas.

The more I learn about her, the better I like her. If she had said, "President who's a person of Color" that would have been politically correct? What she said is not that different. If this was a politically in correct error, it's a negligible one, I think.

Not sure what the big deal is. Does the NAACP stand for the national association of the advancement of colored people? And that is an african american association. If society now says colored is the equivalent to the n word maybe this word should be removed from the largest african american club?

It's not a big deal it just seems odd coming from someone so young from her generation. I've heard older white and black people use colored when I worked in a nursing home, this is the first time I've heard someone so young use it.

Did Aunt Jemima or Uncle Ben change their product name when people were offended? No. Why should the NAACP change it's name when it began a 100 years ago when the term colored was used to refer to Black people? That is not the point.

This is not South Africa. We, the USA, do not use the term "Coloured" to refer to our black, AA, or biracial population. This is a fact, not an opinion.

If most of you heard Lohan say "colored,: then you heard more than I heard. It is impossible, from the video above, to discern exactly what Lohan said.

For the others who say, she meant to say "person of color," "black," or "African American," don't spin this. By doing so, you are making it worse than it really is. You are attempting to clear Lohan of any guilt that you or others perceive.

When I was growing up, it was polite to describe a person like Obama as a "colored person" and his wife would have been referred to in polite society as a pretty Negress.

Which raises the question, why is it okay to say "people of color" rather than "colored people"?

The term "people of color" is NOT exclusive only to Blacks, otherwise the collective term "Blacks" is simply used. Not all Blacks are African Americans, which bears that distinction between the two groups. Some ethnic groups of Asians and Hispanics, East Indians, Native Americans and other racial or ethnic groups can also be considered as "people of color".

Because referring to a person as colored means that they were once "white" and then colored to be something else. It implies that we were all white once and stood in line to be colored..??? I prefer to be of color meaning the is a deeper tone to my skin than others...
