Pioneer Press:

For Northbrook's Wayne Berzon, Obama's win boosted both the historical and monetary value of a small piece of artwork. The Glenbrook High School District 225 Board member is an avid collector of baseball memorabilia and celebrity autographs. In his collection is a handmade and signed doodle Obama made on the floor of the U.S. Senate last year.

"I knew the guy had a great political career ahead of him, but who could know a year and a half ago that he would be President of the United States?" Berzon said.
How he got it

Berzon, an executive at a financial firm, bought the doodle during an online auction in May to benefit Neurofibramatosis Inc., a charity that researches the genetic disease that causes tumors to form on nerves.

Berzon recalled he figured he would buy it for about $700.

Some intense bidding drove the final price up to $2,075, and Berzon later learned he had been bidding against television actress Gillian Anderson of "The X Files," whose family is deeply involved with the charity.

Obama says he wanted to be an Architect if he didn't enter politics, not to mention a write, constitutional lawyer, or BB player and now a cartoonist? Heck! Its almost unfair he grabbed more than his share of talents..... just kidding

BHO is a man of many talents!

Love his signature. It really shows that he is intelligent and confident. As if I didn't already think that of him..

Larry and Teddy, clearly.

Going for the essence, as usual. Obama's drawings don't waste time in details.

Except... some kind of obsession for decorum : the seal and those columns.. Already sketching the podium for his DNC acceptance speech ?

You can even see a bit of their personalities in the drawing. Look at the difference in Kennedy's tie vs. Reid's, it's an interesting drawing to look at.

I noticed the difference too. I just wasn't sure what to make of it.

Funny thing is, I suspect Michelle is better than he is at everything...she came in first in Litigation @ Harvard, he came in 3rd (I came in 6th @ G-Town, Barack doesn't make me feel TOO bad! LOL)

I actually could identify the three guys in the pic. Does that mean he's good or I am good? Hmmn...

I am beginning to wonder if this guy isn't a little too well rounded for his own good (or at least for my liking) - I mean, c'mon, gimme some rough edges, an achilles heel, a thorn in your side, a loose end, something, anything.... I am feeling really inadequate here...Lol.

I do this sort of thing a lot, just to get through meetings, which seem to be almost universally worthless except as a test of patience.

There never seems to be any shortage of people who love to hear themselves talk about nothing, and then are answered by people who love to argue about nothing.

But as doodles go, not bad Barack (but please don't quite your day job for at least 8 more years).

I draw my way through every meeting and always have. But I'm not nearly as nice. My renditions of many of the more annoying co-workers would certainly get me fired.

I don't know why the author of the article did not point it out, but in the upper left hand of the sketch there is clearly what looks like the presidential seal. Or is there a seal like that in the Senate Chamber? Barack may have been indulging in a little day dreaming here while listening to a boring senate speech.
