WASILLA, Alaska — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she wouldn't hesitate to run for the presidency in four years if it's God's will, even though she never thought Campaign 2008 would be "as brutal a ride as it turned out to be."

In a series of interviews in the wake of last Tuesday's elections, Palin said she had no problem with Republican presidential nominee John McCain, but that she resents rumors she said were spread about her and her family by the Arizona Republican's aides. She emphatically denied that she was a drag on the GOP ticket.

"I think the economic collapse had a heckuva lot more to do with the campaign's collapse than me personally," the governor said in an interview broadcast Tuesday on NBC's "Today" show.

Palin also said "There were a lot of times I wanted to shout out, 'Hey, wait a minute, it's not true.' It's pretty brutal."

Nevertheless, the relatively obscure governor of Alaska, whose selection for the ticket by McCain last August brought excitement _ and controversy _ to the 2008 campaign, said she would be eager to do it all again under the right circumstances.

"I'm like, OK, God, if there is an open door for me somewhere, this is what I always pray, I'm like, don't let me miss the open door," Palin said in an interview with Fox News on Monday. "And if there is an open door in '12 or four years later, and if it is something that is going to be good for my family, for my state, for my nation, an opportunity for me, then I'll plow through that door."

In the wide-ranging interview, Palin said she neither wanted nor asked for the $150,000-plus wardrobe the Republican Party bankrolled, and thought the issue was an odd one at the end of the campaign, considering "what is going on in the world today."

"I did not order the clothes. Did not ask for the clothes," Palin said. "I would have been happy to have worn my own clothes from Day One. But that is kind of an odd issue, an odd campaign issue as things were wrapping up there as to who ordered what and who demanded what."

"It's amazing that we did as well as we did," the governor said of the election in a separate interview with the Anchorage Daily News.

"I think the Republican ticket represented too much of the status quo, too much of what had gone on in these last eight years, that Americans were kind of shaking their heads like going, wait a minute, how did we run up a $10 trillion debt in a Republican administration? How have there been blunders with war strategy under a Republican administration? If we're talking change, we want to get far away from what it was that the present administration represented and that is to a great degree what the Republican Party at the time had been representing," Palin said in a story published Sunday.

Palin has scheduled a series of national interviews this week with Fox, NBC's "Today" show and CNN. She also plans to attend the Republican Governors Association conference in Florida this week.

Palin has been mentioned as a possible presidential candidate in 2012. She also could seek re-election in 2010 or challenge Sen. Lisa Murkowski. Still uncertain is the fate of Sen. Ted Stevens, who is leading in his bid for another term but could be ousted by the Senate for his conviction on seven felony counts of failing to report more than $250,000 in gifts, mostly renovations on his home. If Stevens loses his seat, Palin could run for it in a special election.

Palin and McCain's campaign faced a storm of criticism over the tens of thousands of dollars spent at such high-end stores as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus to dress the nominee. Republican National Committee lawyers are still trying to determine exactly what clothing was bought for Palin, what was returned and what has become of the rest.

". . . [S]he never thought Campaign 2008 would be "as brutal a ride as it turned out to be."

Gee. Whose idea was that?

Know the difference between a Sarah Palin and a pit bull? Everything.

Since she's opening up her house to the press, could someone tell me if they've seen any books at the home. If so, what they are.

She copied the library of the George Herbert Walker Bush library, Reader's Digest Condensed Books. Does anyone remember Molly Ivans reporting about the books he had in his "home?"

Palin won't accept responsibility for her comments and for her actions, after everything she has said and done. And this woman was supposed to be a maverick and a potential world leader? Preposterous! How this woman was considered at all for VP of this nation is the question. Half the world was laughing at us for her being on the VP ticket, it was that bad. Thank goodness common sense prevailed and she goes back to Alaska to govern in her own unique and strange way.

Sen. McCain, what you did in Palin's selection for Republican VP was careless and outrageous. "Country first" it was not.

She's desperately trying to stay in the limelight. I believe she totally thinks this is all about her. She loved the cheering crowds, etc., and now that is all gone (thankfully!). Even down to wanting to speak when John McCain gave his concession speech - I sure she wanted to hear the cheering crowds just one more time. Please make her go away!!!

LOL - the concession speech that she wasn't allowed to do... she got the whole thing in there anyway in about 15 seconds. LOL LOL LOL

As for the clothes and the other allegations about her, I think most were started by bloggers. If I remember the clothing thing correctly, some fashion minded blogger merely mentioned the expense of the clothes she was wearing. A couple days later came the $150k wardrobe story. And all of that did snowball into her running rampant thru Neiman's, etc. So anyway, I give her the benefit of the doubt on that one. And add that, aw, she got smeared by the internet. That's still nothing compared to what she did to Obama.

If the media stops asking the questions she will stop answering the questions.

Please MSM shut this woman up by not asking her anymore questions. The more she speaks, the dumber women throughout America appear.

She will fade to darkness and hopefully not rear her evil little head again in 2012.

You can't accuse Palin of being ferociously ambitious. She's simply answering the call from her Creator. You can't accuse Palin of being unqualified for high national office because of her lack of knowledge or interest in issues impacting the U.S. and the world because her Creator would not show her an open door if he didn't think she could do a great job for her family, her state and her country.

I've heard pundit after pundit say that Palin can learn what she needs to learn to make a convincing run for president in 2012. I agree with editorial writer Jonathan Capehart that Palin "doesn't know what she doesn't know." There is a huge distinction between memorizing geography and parroting written responses to anticipated media questions on important issues, and having the intelligence to think through and problem solve those issues. This is the lesson we should have learned from eight disasterous years of George W. Bush. His handlers helped him persuade enough Americans that he was competent enough to lead our country and the world. Clearly, he wasn't.

When she was running as McCain's vp candidate, we couldn't get her to speak. Now we can't get her to shut up. Enough already.

Has anyone asked Palin why she's so hot to be interviewed now, when she wouldn't give any while running for VP? Seems like it'd be the first question I'd ask.

Van Sustern and Lauer were no Katie Courics! I'm sure she demanded that. When she was running, journalists probably felt like they had to ask a few real questions for the voters.

Groundballs galore during these soft ball interviews!! That was more painful than watchign Sarah. Admittedly I can't stand when Matt interviews anyone.

GVS said "what a nice porch to sit and read upon" and Sarah agreed..GVS can't change the topic fast enough fails to segway into what do you like to read. It was actually nice to see the Palin home and the interviews went well enough for Sarah. It still bugs the be-jeezus out of me that Piper runs all over the place during these interviews. Why isn't she in school? Are these interviews an afterschool event ? If so, notable absences: Willow and Bristol (understandable). Has Palin already planned to hold Piper back a year?

Now I lay ne down to sleep, I pray the Palins cease to creep,
into the minds of all who seek, the joy of positive feelings to keep.

If I can live to see the day, the wind blows power, the sun shines rays,
and Independence frees our minds, from Wars and greed, and lights our way,

I pray thee Lord, this choice we made, will bring the Hope and fight the hate,
and all the world will soon forget, the time a Palin caused regret.

Sarah you had your 15 minutes of fame.
Sarah, it is now time to go home and take care of kiddies and do the cooking and washing. With 5 kids it shows that the only thing she is good at is to make babies.

Someone needs to tell Palin " THE ELECTION IS OVER!"

Why all the interviews now Sarah? Doesn't she know the "kids is PJ's" got dressed, went to the polls and voted McCain/Palin and their lies right out of the white house?

It's time we sent a petition around to all the networks to ban pitbulls in the media.

Enough is enough, Sarah. Give it a rest already. You're digging yourself in deeper and deeper with every new interview!!
