WASILLA, Alaska — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she wouldn't hesitate to run for the presidency in four years if it's God's will, even though she never thought Campaign 2008 would be "as brutal a ride as it turned out to be."

In a series of interviews in the wake of last Tuesday's elections, Palin said she had no problem with Republican presidential nominee John McCain, but that she resents rumors she said were spread about her and her family by the Arizona Republican's aides. She emphatically denied that she was a drag on the GOP ticket.

"I think the economic collapse had a heckuva lot more to do with the campaign's collapse than me personally," the governor said in an interview broadcast Tuesday on NBC's "Today" show.

Palin also said "There were a lot of times I wanted to shout out, 'Hey, wait a minute, it's not true.' It's pretty brutal."

Nevertheless, the relatively obscure governor of Alaska, whose selection for the ticket by McCain last August brought excitement _ and controversy _ to the 2008 campaign, said she would be eager to do it all again under the right circumstances.

"I'm like, OK, God, if there is an open door for me somewhere, this is what I always pray, I'm like, don't let me miss the open door," Palin said in an interview with Fox News on Monday. "And if there is an open door in '12 or four years later, and if it is something that is going to be good for my family, for my state, for my nation, an opportunity for me, then I'll plow through that door."

In the wide-ranging interview, Palin said she neither wanted nor asked for the $150,000-plus wardrobe the Republican Party bankrolled, and thought the issue was an odd one at the end of the campaign, considering "what is going on in the world today."

"I did not order the clothes. Did not ask for the clothes," Palin said. "I would have been happy to have worn my own clothes from Day One. But that is kind of an odd issue, an odd campaign issue as things were wrapping up there as to who ordered what and who demanded what."

"It's amazing that we did as well as we did," the governor said of the election in a separate interview with the Anchorage Daily News.

"I think the Republican ticket represented too much of the status quo, too much of what had gone on in these last eight years, that Americans were kind of shaking their heads like going, wait a minute, how did we run up a $10 trillion debt in a Republican administration? How have there been blunders with war strategy under a Republican administration? If we're talking change, we want to get far away from what it was that the present administration represented and that is to a great degree what the Republican Party at the time had been representing," Palin said in a story published Sunday.

Palin has scheduled a series of national interviews this week with Fox, NBC's "Today" show and CNN. She also plans to attend the Republican Governors Association conference in Florida this week.

Palin has been mentioned as a possible presidential candidate in 2012. She also could seek re-election in 2010 or challenge Sen. Lisa Murkowski. Still uncertain is the fate of Sen. Ted Stevens, who is leading in his bid for another term but could be ousted by the Senate for his conviction on seven felony counts of failing to report more than $250,000 in gifts, mostly renovations on his home. If Stevens loses his seat, Palin could run for it in a special election.

Palin and McCain's campaign faced a storm of criticism over the tens of thousands of dollars spent at such high-end stores as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus to dress the nominee. Republican National Committee lawyers are still trying to determine exactly what clothing was bought for Palin, what was returned and what has become of the rest.

Can't we just let her go? Palin, should be ignored and hopefully we'll never have to see her face or hear her voice again. Please, let's not indulge her craving for self-promotion. Just ignore her and let her go back to her Disneyesque dictatorship in Alaska.

Nothing said about her was true. Nothing she did was wrong or a drag on the ticket. She knew nothing, and no one has a name.

She really needs a PR rep if she is going to start a rehab exercise with the public... everyone and everything but you cannot be wrong and lies, Sarah. No one will buy it. It won't wash.

I wish the media would move along.
We need to stop encouraging her.
Again, she is but a footnote* in Presidential history.
It is kinda funny, with no one doing her hair, she looks more and more like Peggy Hill. In fact, she is Peggy Hill, just enough intellect to make her dangerous, and craving the attention for everyone to notice her when she enters a room.
Scary.

*Sarah Palin, loser.

she is no leader and claiming that God is involved in her political decisions is too hard to take after Bush's BS that got us into war supposedly because Gpd told him to. she not only can't get the wardrobe malfunction stuff straight, the harry potter lies about when they were published already makes more lies fly out of that mouth. perhaps she cannot be a leader for many reason but surely the hate she spewed, her end of days plans for all people including those who don't believe her version of a religion make her unfit to say nothing of her ignorance. the model family idea has more holes than swiss cheese. the campaign rhetoric was republican divisive and wigged out right wing..we are moving on from that and it is not how the majority of americans feel. despite the GOP spin, we are actually a little left of center on social issues...just ask the moderate republicans who would never follow her.

You know how most people are born with that gene that tells them " you are embarrassing yourself, shut up", that is the gene that Palin didn't get.

I can't resist the urge to be petty for a moment and say...

Boy, her hair looks like crap when it's not done by the highest paid staffer on the campaign. We were doing that pouf-with-bangs thing back in my high school in New Jersey. Looked stupid then too.

I believe Sarah Palin has been a revelation to the campaign, especially to many democrats who are tired of liberal policies. She certainly fired up republicans but also many democrats.
I believe Obama's lack of leadership will soon be exposed as America enters its season of confusion which is very likely through wavering policies.
It is then that Sarah Palin will be needed to bring about decisiveness to a nation that sorely lacks it. Democrats will be ready for such an eventuality in 2012.

Expose

It's ludicrous to see the words "Palin" and "decisiveness" in the same sentence. She reinvents herself every day, depending on who she is talking to and what they want to hear. She cannot even keep her lies straight.

I don't doubt Palin has a small modicrum of intellect. I don't want to attack Palin on her mothering abilities. I do think Palin is an effective cheerleader. Not the quarterback, but the cheerleader. She can excite people, yes. But, can she lead? No. She doesn't have the background. I am sorry. I think the GOP could have done a lot better, There are some brilliant, female, republican minds. Sarah is not the one. She can fight for you, but she can't lead you. That position calls for much higher intellect. Sarah is a talking head. The majority, both in the electoral college and the poplular vote, has no faith in her. Listen to your fellows. Bring a real contender to the table.

If they had won, we probably wouldn't see anything being done. She talks a good game re: change, but I doubt that it would have started on Nov. 5th like it did with President-Elect Obama.

Palin's church believes Alaska has a special role in the End of Days - that the Christians will take refuge there in the northernmost least populated part of the U.S. She appears to think God has chosen her for a special part in all that.

We already had a president who thought he was chosen by God, and who thought every notion that entered his head was the word of God. 100,000 people are dead because of his egotistical delusions.

Never again.

I believe Sarah Palin was a revelation to the campaign. Indeed, she did not fire up the Republicans but many democrats in the process. She may sound radical in her beliefs but many democrats feel she has impressed them with her sincerity and compassion for everyday people. This is very uncanny for a politician even for Obama who depended very heavily on media glorification and campaigning.
Dont know how long this will last as his resume being thin will soon be exposed.
I believe America is entering a season of confusion as Barack's policies in wanting to please every quarter will undermine the economic future.

A revelation? Why wouldn't they have gotten a revelation that would make them win?

I don't know a single Democrat who thinks she is anything but a fraud. Or an independent (I'm an independent) either.

Sarah Palin has a handful of sisters up there in Alaska, it seems to me that one of them would pull her aside and explain to her that America is laughing at her not with her. The more that she is in the media the more uneducated and ridiculous she looks. She needs to just stay in Alaska and hide in her office for awhile - and get her kids back into school where they belong.
